Thanks for the kind words my man. There’s so much talent on tiktok that you have stumbled onto a well on content to pull from should you decide you wanna keep going with this as a series!
fullmetaljessie's high screams in that Nemesis video reminded me a lot of Dickie Allen's "goblin" voice, and her lows are killer! I definitely want to hear more from her! Thanks for featuring her, Mark!
EVERYBODY LIKE THIS COMMENT. Iv always wanted to see a video where viewers submit 30 second or less videos that mark reacts/gives advice to. It’s the ultimate homage to all of the patrons that follow this channel.
Just found this channel and I'm not even finished watching this yet but I gotta say, I LOVE how positive you are. So many people make reaction content just to rag on other people (and that can be fun too lmao) but this energy right here? Wholesome.
As someone who aims to start a band, this video is a huge ass ray of light hahaha. So many extremely talented and creative musicians out there, lesgooo
I believe one of Angelmaker's guitarists gets official backing credits on songs but for "gang vocals" I believe it is everyone. I could be wrong though.
@@DrDipsh1t i forget his name but one of the guitarists was the vocalist of galactic pegasus and carcosa and i like his vocals better than either of the actual lead vocalists in angelmaker haha
Karisen's performance impressed me the most, Stitch was a song that helped me get into the metal I'm into now and it sounded like she knew how to just not breathe, it was insane
In the video, she's lipsyncing over a prerecorded track :) She probably recorded it in smaller chunks! Amazing technique, but take courage as far as the breathing goes! It's possible!
It’s like goody goods are learning throat singing vocals to impress their crush. When I hear you, I’m gonna feel that past turmoil and emotion, but if I don’t hear it, I automatically think your skill is not something you wanted, it’s rather something that just happened. I’m gonna know if you know true sorrow.
Abolutely loved this video mixed in with your normal content, highlighting talent most otherwise wouldn't have come across, and great insights throughout, best in the bizz Mark and Kardikrew 🤘🤘
You're amazing brother. I love that I finally found someone that feels about metal and Black metal the way I do. You see the layers and you get it. \../
For more shrieking, crazy, haunting, uncomfortable, horrory vocals check out Julie Christmas. She did an EP with Cult of Luna a few years back called Mariner, def recommend!
Would you ever consider doing an analysis of Kyo from Sukekiyo/Dir En Grey? Bonkers falsetto but also very eccentric with tons of variety, I'd call him Japan's Mike Patton. Example of vocals: watch?v=qCVMY-WzKeo
Karyn Crisis is a fun old-school metal screamer. I first heard her in Crisis back in the late 90s. Different and fun. She also did Gospel of the Witches.
Oh was I the first comment? Need to make a more impactful comment. Um, thanks. Wait that was not impactful. Um HAMMAR. wait, that could be impactful if used correctly. Oh well, I've gone too far to delete and too far to continue. Um, later.
@@KardavoxAcademy Try these... Mr Bungle - Carry stress in the jaw, Dillinger Escape Plan - When Good Dogs do Bad Things Dead Cross - church of the MFs Faith No More - Caffeine Tomahawk - God Hates a coward Mike Patton - Adult themselves for voice Mr. Bungle - The night they came home live
I recently just discovered 'fullmetal jessie' and her vocals are just amazing. With that said PLEASE react to her cover of Linkin Park's Lying from You. So killer!!!!
I am not the most frequent viewer of videos on YT, but have noticed you have a lot of "codenamed" tricks and explanations, that I always admire and find really cool. I think you could write a good book with what you have there. Not neccessarily a serious metal vocal education book, but maybe something funny. Respect.
Loved this video, and I actually hadn't seen many of these. There are a lot of great vocalists on TikTok, and it's really inspiring as a vocalist myself. Also, unrelated, but how do you feel about Lingua Ignota's/Kristin Hayter's vocals? I know she doesn't make metal, but her screams are insane. She has openly said that they are not proper or safe, but I have to wonder how a vocal coach would feel about them, because she tours pretty intensely and sounds consistently amazing. I just saw her live last week. She performed for almost 2 hours and sounded like she could have for 2 more, it was honestly kind of mind-blowing considering how physically demanding her performances are.
Mark, I know you're an Alcest fan, so are you also a fan of Amesoeurs? The female vocalist's work on Faiblesse des Sens is the best and most emotional I've heard, and it would be so sick to hear you cover it. DSBM screams are just the best imo. Ooh and that reminds me! Silencer's frontman! Also would be so sick to hear your thoughts on lol
I think a great example of the type of scream your talking about at around the 21 minute mark would be a band called SABELLA preferably the sound DOORS
Loved this! Thank you for this, my little sisters show me vocalists on TikTok often, they're on it more than me. I'm especially familiar with kthescreamer. Loved the breakdown of so many vocalists in one video. Please consider doing a video on Immortal Disfigurement's "Dragged Through The Inferno". There's a "predator scream" at 2:35 that is brutal and I would love to hear your analysis.
I spent way too much time trying to find tha Over All x Born Again split. There's a page on Bandcamp for it but can't buy any music. Anyways I love seeing this Black Metal content, if we could have more black metal content pls that wuld be great !! :))
Mark your thoughts on using so many effects instead of raw vocals I feel like they're just not good enough to do the raw vocals (ex low frys )am i wrong bro? I feel like the effects just take away the wow factor. I don't know just my opinion peace and love. Not talking about this video specifically just alot of vocal covers in general .
I think vocalists get put into harsh boxes. When a guitarist uses delay, nobody minds that they aren't actually playing each note. Or when a drummer uses a reverse snare or cymbal, people don't generally say he's a fake drummer. There is a difference between having fun with technology and hiding behind effects. I've used delay, reverb, vocoders, and lots more just because it sounds neat, very much like a guitarist may enjoy playing with different effects pedals. As for the less obvious stuff such as EQ, added gain, and mild pitch correction, these are often very necessary so that the voice can actually sit nicely in the mix. Drum tracks are often at least mildly quantized, guitar riffs are hand picked for the best takes, and many clean vocalists have a small brush of pitch correction to avoid dissonance in the mix. I think a vocalist can be extremely talented while also using technology as necessary.
This is awesome stuff man! I am still new getting into metal/scream scene, but have you seen/what do you think of Lauren Babic and her band Red Handed Denial? I found her from covers and am starting to get into their latest album and have heard nothing but praise from it! Keep up the good stuff, you're kicking ass!
On the subject of going from blood-curdling horror scream to metal scream, I would love to see someone pull off 10:56 by Oathbreaker. Their lead singer is from another planet.
Hey Mark, if you haven’t heard it yet, could you see about doing a video on BlackBraid? He is a solo indigenous Black Metal project from the Adirondacks. Figured I should tell you about it seeing as how you like black Metal, you might enjoy it
