I agree completely. I was totally blown away reading those lyrics yesterday. It made me really grow a whole new respect for STP. Not only are they ALL individually talented, according to those lyrics all they want is a peaceful world to live in with their fellow man. It's really amazing to see such a brutal sounding man belting out lyrics about wanting no more violence on earth. So good!
For real. The gimmicky Russian gangster lyrics made for a fun meme, but the lyrics for this song have way more substance. Really awesome to see them step up in this situation and use their voice for a good cause
I completely agree Alex did a rare interview for a magazine I read of why he and the decided to move to the states and he stated that if he was in Russia still he'd probably be arrested for being against the war
Such a great song that it broke the RU-vid Premier system! For real though, this track is awesome and I really like listening to the evolution of their music. They deserve tons of respect for protesting the War too, it takes a lot of courage to do so in their position and I love them even more because of it!
12:00 When you were replicating Alex's vocals for the line "Please stop the violence!!!" in the chorus and recited it as "Bring back the virus!!! I almost fell out of my chair lol Just a wee bit different from the intended message 😂
As an aspiring vocalist who also plays the guitar, I'd like to take a minute to also recognize the great use of the guitar on this song which is not that common in Deathcore. Usually the guitar takes a back seat in the mix and vocals, drums and bass are boosted. Here we have it in the intro, we have a solo and we have it on the outro which is awesome. Love it.
Wish this was a co-react: It would’ve been really cool to hear more of Alex’s POV on the war as well as how he’s approached vocals over the years. Of course Mark destroying anything with a sword is awesome too though 😂
Opposing the war as a Russian citizen can come with some pretty awful consequences for citizens. He made a statement on his youtube that was honestly very brave considering the circumstances.
@@AlexS-wv4ur IDK if it is a permanent visa or citizenship or not, but he’s been living in Florida for the past few months, so he should be able to open up more now.
He doesn’t do much interviews in English and he said why to his Russian fans (I’m Russian). He basically said that he is embarrassed of his spoken English and terrified to do a long session and thinks people will be annoyed of him coming up with proper words for too long. He is a very shy guy in reality.
Accurate. Though when I see it live, it's usually a 350 pound balding dude with huge gauge earrings and a backpack who stands in the middle of the pit like a black hole as people in the circle pit chaotically orbit around him while he charges himself up in anticipation. The other slam dancers stay clear of him. They dare not touch him. They know what's to come. Huffing and puffing, looking like an angry possessed bull, he slowly raises his head to the sky, before using all his energy to suddenly kick the nearest person in the face. It's like a mosh pit supernova. How did he get his legs that high? It's one of life's great mysteries...
In Russia, the video "1984" is not available. Only through VPN. It contains materials from the UMG partner. He blocked the video in your country due to copyright infringement. :(
Mark I love your videos man. You teach me so much and I've gotten better at not hurting my throat by doing vocals..so you taught me the proper way and I appreciate it!
I really enjoyed how near the end of the song Alex just elegantly switches from clean vocals to harsh vocals repeatedly. He emphasizes particular words with the screams, and that ends up making the lyrics that much more impactful. I wish I had known how to do harsh vocals back when I performed my classical repertoire vocal recital for my BA in Music. One of the songs I sang was Franz Schubert's "Erlkönig," and I would've _loved_ to switch vocal styles to screaming during the moment in the song when the Erlking/Erlkönig himself reveals his true evil intentions to the son. I think there is a place for harsh vocals even in classical music, and if used tastefully I think it can leave an even greater impact on the audience. I've heard it said that singing is "acting on pitch," and I think one could extend that to harsh vocals, adding to the drama. As the opera singer René Pape once said, "It's all about the drama."
wow you were quick to schedule this xD looking foward to the show! bet you're gonna mention his rare use of higher screams which sounded really great and different coming from Alex :D
mark asks why am i so dumb when trying to point at alexs mouth i feel that bro sometimes the most simple task i fuck up over and over lol keep on keepin on brother
Not only does he relax but what he's doing is tilting his head to bend his neck and force that air into one side of his folds more than the other to access that cavernous sound but also adds to that by golding his tongue all the way back..he pulls his nasal cavity but pulling his nose inward like a curl shape and tilting his chin back as well..he's got a group of things contributing to that hallow sound..im also suspicious of him using elm wood for moisture to get that gurgling sound
This single is way better than anything from Kostolom, and your reaction video actually makes me appreciate Alex Terrible, as I thought he was a pretty average vocalist with the previous two albums but he's grown a lot. Can you do a Summoning The Lich reaction? Love their stuff, something like Descend or Temple of Bone.
Too late about not being born with a congenital heart defect. Got that fixed with a mechanical valve nearly 10 years ago tho, so I'm good to go! 💪🏻 Back on topic, great video Mark! 1984 is a dope song and I'm glad your analysis of it came so soon! Always entertaining, especially with the sword and helmet lol
been trying to learn fry for a solid year now , it's so hard when you can't afford lessons. I always jump when you put a reaction beacuse maybe i can pick something up from your expertise
i realy love when you gone wild !!!!!! ... Alex make me the same thing when i listen his songs ... my favorits are "DOOM ETERNAL" and "DEMOLISHER"...and this one is the third one.... generaly i listen them to clean up my house... insteadv of destroying things.... but WHAT A F...ING POWER !!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHH🤘
@@BirdOfHermes83 Personally from their EP (which is drastically different from Dæmon) Facing Lies From Dæmon,, its a hard toss up but in order Skies of babel Astaroth,The Baptism Lilith Judas Iscariot [the bass line is sexy]
@@GudHunterYT96 thanks. I'll go look them up after I'm done listening to the Carrion Vael songs on their page. Just found these guys yesterday and I'm loving their new CD abhorrent obsessions. Just came out.
Hey Mark! You should check out some of the new Arch Enemy stuff. Alissa does some pretty interesting vocals (including cleans!) and the songs are the best they’ve done in a long time.
Ya know idk if this would count as interviewing yourself but I'd love to hear you do a review of thirty blood moons by the raven autarchy such a good song
How do you mean? I used to be a huge fan of sop, but i havent been into the recent stuff. His voice isnt doing much for me anymore. But id like to know what fell off to you
