Has Alan read the regulations wrong? What do you think?

The "torsion" bar is not part of the "chassis" though. It's probably more important that they define what the chassis part is. Otherwise you could include dampers or pivots as "supplementary" parts not part of the main chassis :)

if its not part of the chassis (I would argue it is on the account of chassis like the Extreme) then it's 'chassis frame control', and thus still technically prohibited in my view

@@AlanDoveKarting its no longer part of the main chassis once its cut out though :) They need a better definition of what consitutues a chassis (if they dont already). the steering is part of the "control" and that pivots, are they suggesting the steering shouldnt pivot :D . Very shitty wording of the rules!

@@100ccKartingVideos "No longer part of the main chassis" would infer there's secondary chassis components. On the tony extreme we would agree that the central tube is part of the chassis would we not? If we slice it out we have split the chassis into two and thus do not adhere to the chassis being one-piece. If its the case it's not part of the chassis I could cut and clamp most of the chassis back together. If it's argued successfully it isn't 'part of the chassis' (which I hope I've explained why that'd be tremendously difficult) then you have to prove the torsion bar's purpose is NOT chassis frame control... which is absolutely is.

@@AlanDoveKarting but the extra bar isn't control by pivot or damper.
@AlanDoveKarting
@AlanDoveKarting 3 года назад
@@100ccKartingVideos it says 'which includes pivots, damper or similar devices'. It doesn't state those are the only chassis control not prohibited, they are examples OF chassis control thats prohibited. The 'similar devises' pretty much nails it down too. The rules state no chassis control first and foremost. It's black and white - no chassis frame control. Otherwise it would stated "no chassis frame control, except stiffness bars that can be clmaped in". If the rules don't say you CAN do it... then you CAN'T do it. It says that too it's still needs to be welded in either way.

Torsion bar is an option to improve performance and all chasis have the extension to get them fitted. If chasis are FÍA approved then torsion bar is legal. If it was ilegal you would not be allowed to race with torsion bars during competitions .

FIA regulations are irrelevant. Motorsport UK regulations are a separate entity.
@vigiror1
@vigiror1 3 года назад
@@AlanDoveKarting the question is, are you allowed to race in the UK with torsion bar? If they don’t ban you means is legal, otherwise they will never allow you to race .

@@vigiror1 Scrutineers generally concern the themselves with safety aspects of the kart not with the minutiae of various technical regulations like this. So yes, a whole grid could be running karts that would be deemed illegal under protest. This hasn't been bought up before so no one has noticed. Protest is how laws are often enforced.

arnt front and rear crash bars torsion bars,what does the cik homoligation state,?
@AlanDoveKarting
@AlanDoveKarting 3 года назад
no, their primary purpose is mandated for. With regard to CIK they have this reg "2.3.1 c) chassis auxiliary parts: in order to make the kart more solid, special tubes and profiles (auxiliary parts) may be mounted (I'd add by clamp). However, they must not present a risk for the safety of the Driver and of the other Competitors."

Seat is allowed because the regs mandate for it. You fit a seat TO a chassis. They do not mandate for torsion bars.
