Do you have a video in toe? I wonder if you could do a special miniseries dedicated to just caster, camber, and toe and really dive into them. And perhaps oversteer and understeer. Because those are some of the biggest topics for beginners

Hi Derek, great video and explanation! I was always wondering about the functionality of it in a kart. Interesting that it is the opposite to a normal car. There you soften the front to gain more front grip. Keep it up:)
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 3 года назад
yeah DJ the karts are unique. not having coil spring suspension, you have to control the spring rate of your frame loosening and tightening the bars. do you have a Tony Kart too? or something else? the fundamentals are essentially the same for all modern karts
@DJNoseT
@DJNoseT 3 года назад
@@PowerRepublic You are right. Karts are very special! I had an old CRG from 08 with an Iame Leopard the last years. I wanted to try something with a more modern geometry. There was no money to buy completly new. I found a good deal on a used Sodi RS3 from the German nationals 2019 and decided on a new X30 engine:)
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 3 года назад
the sodi karts are a solid performer. Good work, a used kart with a brand new engine is probably the best combo for cost saving, As it is the engine that gives you the most heart ache and most people can't fix them themselves.

Thanks for the video, Power Republic! Why do you put in the stiffest bar when the track is sticky, but also when the track is wet and grip is very low?
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 3 года назад
Hello Sajan, great question and thanks for tuning in. My guess is to cure understeer. At our local track when it is hot and sticky the karts seem to understeer. so we add the front bar as the meeting goes on and the tyres start to degrade. also too, when it is wet, the chassis I don't want to flex in the front, so I add the front torsion bar to stop that so we get some good mechanical jack as we go though the corners. hope that helps, try it out at your local track and let me know how it goes for you?

Thanks for this video, just learned a lot.I'm a begginner in karting, but experience in race car. What about rear torsion bar? I do have a used tony kart chassis, with the front torsion bar. I see the clamp for the rear one, but no bar. In the video, you're only talking about front, is the rear bar can help rigidity as well? Same as sway bar in a car will help pivoting in corner / correcting over/under steer?
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 2 года назад
hey, welcome to the club. karting is mad fun and glad you are liking the channel. no one really uses them anymore so OTK have deleted them for now

Thank you for all the tips! So one more question. For the afternoon when the track gets lots of grip on those hot race days should I be running a stiff torsion bar? Same with the cooler day for example the morning practice I’m guessing it won’t be as stiff. I think this might be the reason why my kart seems to hop lots on the hot days. Thanks Dezzy!!
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic Год назад
Hey Roy. Non problems. Yeah that’s generally what I wouldn’t do too at our track. And maybe add bigger front hubs and shorter rear rubs too if needed.

I have a old CRG I got it second hand with a KT100j I pulled that off and got a PRD fireball 125 TAG on it now it doesn't have a torsion bar or the part of the chassis it is fitted to is running a torsion bar only on tory karts or do you use them on most karts? Im only new to go karts and still building and setting mine up its a bits'a im not going to race as I don't have the money but just go and do laps during the week because I like going fast. and thank you for your videos that are very informative I have learnt heaps.

Hey one more questions about. What is stiffer for the chassis, the flat bar in flat position or the round chrome bar? THX
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 2 года назад
Very similar but the round bars should be the stiffest setting
@Ganyersel
@Ganyersel 3 года назад
Great video, but I'm wondering where the flat bar fits in the range of stiffness compared to the round bars when it's fitted in either the flat or vertical positions?
@PowerRepublic

round gold is stiffest. then silver then chrome. then vert flat bar, then flat bar horizontal .
@jaspereerdekens3102
@jaspereerdekens3102 Год назад
For racecars putting a softer setting on the front anti roll bar increases grip on the front axle. As I understood it that isn't really the case for a kart. It seems to be more tricky?

I use aluminium bar with lots of holes as a front bar. It's installed to the frame with shrinkable rubber tubing. The idea is avoid my 401R to lose it shape from left side. It tends to rise because so many tracks have long stressing corners to the right.

We are the local Tony Kart dealer. And we love the history of the company, arguably the best in the business. stoked to be an outlet for them. Haase karts (and most kart brands for that matter) are all fine and almost the same as a tony kart so the videos should be a good reference to get you started

It is not problem with fatness, hi is just big. We are driving with 401 s a and I have no ideas what to do to reduce the weight. Thank you. Alen Mahnich. Ps your videos are phenomenal 👍 Sorry I don’t now where can I write you a question so i wrote here.

@PowerRepublic 3 года назад
Hey Alen, thanks for the positive vibes. Great question. You could remove - seat stay and front bar - third bearing and cassette - Datalogger - use a tillett t11 VG seat - make customs alloy crash protection - use a lightweight battery But really at 10kg’s over , he’s just grown early and needs to get into senior Category soon with extra weight allowing. Cause you can only really get about 5kg’s off with everything on that list.

I had no idea the standard ones are adjustable like that. Id bet most people buy the round ones not realising the standard can be rotated to make it stiffer. The fact its so easy to adjust makes that seem like the better option, so why do people swap if they know??
@PowerRepublic
@PowerRepublic 3 года назад
my guess is that some one won a race with it once, so we all bought the gold one too and then that is why it always wins now. but for the finer tuning of the kart the different bars will flex differently, similar to the different axle grades. 'tune - ability' is key to success with the devil in the details
@nalinshah1465
@nalinshah1465 3 года назад
also the flat bar doesn’t have the same range as the round bars. so the flat bar in the stiffest position is still not as stiff as the gray or gold bars. changing the position of the flat bar is not a substitute for the round bars.
@PowerRepublic
