He didn't have to, spurs always start their seasons like this. Last season Spurs were tipped to contend for the title when they were under Conte. Even under mourinho, spurs started this good and it didnt end well to with him.
As a spurs fan, this is the first year since Poch left that I can't wait for matchday. The importance of that alone can't be understated. Ange is right, even if results don't always go our way, the way we play right now is really promising and a joy to watch. That's kind of what football is all about
@@johnmc128 - Yeh, i love the guy but i've always felt he wasn't a top level manager. He's just not quite at the same level as Klopp / Pep / Ancelotti etc. I think Ange is already showing more in his people skills, tactical variability and use of subs.
@@QuotidianStupidity Chelsea have spent millions and he's struggling, I always thought his teams play backwards and side ways too much , Spurs have since he was there, until now.
@@johnmc128 Yeh, I don't think "passive possession" is talked about enough. England have been guilty of it a lot, just having the ball is meaningless, you need to have the mentality and plan to really get at the other team and go for the jugular. That is what made Klopps prem winning team so exciting.
Hi from Redcliffe Australia. I knew almost nothing about Spurs until the talk of Ange leaving Celtic and now I can hardly wait for your next game..!!! COYS I've memories of what Ange achieved with Brisbane Roar and so far so good for Spurs, I'm amazed but not at all surprised. It's fascinating to watch all the pundits and experts analysing Ange's tactics and comparing them to the great football minds. It seems to me that Ange's real genius is setting up the strategy via training, squad and team selection and then allowing and trusting the players to work out the tactics on the pitch. It's a bit like a game of chess except that much more difficult as each piece is making the move themselves and Ange recognises the intelegece of his players and backs them 100%. It's always a great ride following Ange. Best Cheers
people are seriously underestimating how good this team is. The problem with the team is that there is almost no squad depth, especially at the back. The good thing is they are playing some attacking football that has some end products, some new tactics that teams haven't been able to figure out how to go against, and no european football / carabao cup.
It’s just good that there is a clear gap waiting to be filled. Once Phillips shines and we sign a new first team CB and maybe a new 10 we aill look absolutely terrifying
@@thetruth4654If that happens bro I am already feeling bad for Thomas Muller and Thomas Tuchel😢and the worst part is Manuel Neuer is past is prime and his backup is goalie who gets destroyed by Portugal minus Ronaldo that too in World Cup.I mean with Harry Kane in squad good luck to Bayern Munich.
@@magruster If you listen carefully there is a split second as he shoots when the noise goes right down. Sure it's not silence, but it's a fraction of a second of baited breath in hope and anticipation before an almighty roar - the like of which I've never heard in all my 65 years.
No matter what happens this season, I'm happy to have my Tottenham back 💙🤍 I don't care if we don't win anything as long as we show passion, stay united and fight 'till the very end - a performance and a team to be proud of. Ange is the best thing to happen to our club since Poch and I am so excited for this new era 🙌🏻
@@TheJamin25 There is a difference between "not caring" and not being desperate for it and wanting something immediately. Silverware is the result of playing good football, not the goal in and of itself. If Spurs keep this up, I'm sure Spurs will win something in the medium to long run.
And no Australian was surprised. Maybe now people can stop assuming that only European accomplishments count. He's beyond experienced and is a serial winner. Ange also has guts, when things do go on a slump you know he won't panic and blow things up like loads of managers at bigger clubs. Can't be prouder
I have just remembered that the Australian team which won the Asian Cup had Postercoglu as a coach.Yeah thanks bro for reminding I mean I never thought like that.
Oh god here come the Australian Celtic fans with Greek heritage and spurs as their premier league team to tell us about their lord and saviour Ange postecoglou
@@user-bp1be1yg2h As a Spurs fan from England with English heritage, with Spurs as my Premier League Team... allow me to tell you about our lord and saviour, Ange Postecoglou!
@@DuckyVanyahahaha. Took the words out of my mouth. I knew nothing about big Ange before he joined our club. It seems absolutely fitting that a humble, wise man like him has provided a learning moment for thousands of people like me to be less judgmental, and more curious. What a guy.
Watching the match day footage on the official Tottenham RU-vid, the squad all look so happy. Like, you can just tell training is a joy for them right now and the positive energy is seeping out. I still don't know if we'll win anything, but it's great to see us provide positive enjoyable football with a happy squad
Brennan Johnson is going to surprise everyone. He's such a good winger but can use his speed to beat offside traps as a striker. He'll end up as one of the best players in the league.
That's a pretty bold claim, we will see. I have a feeling that, as usual, it'll go wrong for spurs😂especially when you get a few injuries and play a few better teams.
He definitely looks promising. One thing I noticed about him against Sheffield is that he looks really calm and collected in the box and seems to always make the right decision despite the very small sample size. I have no doubt in my mind that Ange will be able to mold him into a terrifying player in the final third.
That last minute winner thing is no accident. I'm a Celtic fan. We won more games in the last 10 minutes than can reasonably be explained by luck. Ange's motto up her was "We never stop!" if you're not willing to run from whistle to whistle, you're not getting a game. This will happen multiple times this season for Tottenham, because their style of play will exhaust all but the very best oppositions. Told you he was special.
Its also a good tactic cos the opposition are getting tired in the 80th minute then you stick on 3 fresh attacking players youv now got 25 mins of the game left mistakes are gona be made
It’s not just Spurs and Celtic, his Brisbane Roar team never knew when the were beaten. 2011 grand final equalised in 120th minute and won on penalties, 2012 grand final scored in 94th minute won 2-1.
If we finish Top 6 I’d be thrilled but as long as we keep playing like this I’m satisfied. The players seem happier under Ange and for once we got our transfers right. Team has been crying out for Maddison for years Our main weakness is depth. Remove any of our starting backline, Maddison and things look a lot shakier. Look what happened in the EFL Cup. Still have a ways to go but happy with this start.
I think people need to remember that despite making nine changes, Spurs only lost in penalties against Fulham so it really wasn't as bad as people were making it out to be (don't forget Arsenal drew against Fulham too). Sure there's a significant drop in quality but if this was a PL game then it would have at worst ended as a draw anyways.
I'm an Arsenal Fan, but Ange is a top bloke and totally right. Spurs fans have been miserable for years because thier football has been shit. They have always played good football. The weren't winning a whole lot in the late 90s, 00s but they always played great football so they didn't really mind so much. The obsession with not winning anything came about because they started playing fucking awful football that isn't fun to watch. Some clubs don't mind that so much as long as it keeps them stable, but Spurs aint one of them. Obviously they are winning right now so they are double happy, but I do think that even if they were winning, they won't be miserable about it because they are always going to have entertaining games. Next weekends game is going to be a fucking riot. Spurs are going to come right at us, and we are going to go back at them, and I could see it being a high scoring game. Obviously I think we will win, but I wouldn't be suprised if its a 4-3 result. Despite being an Arsenal fan... I don't actually ever want Spurs to do BAD. I just want them to do worse then us! (which to be fair, would have required them being bad for a few years in the last decade!) I think having your rivals be strong is good.
Very well said..!! Joining the comments from Brisbane Australia and thankful for being able to do so. Can't wait for the game and hope it's a blinder. Best Cheers
Personally I love the new injury time laws. The old way seemed to be "first half one minute second half three minutes" NO MATTER WHAT HAD HAPPENED. You'd get some games where it seemed players had been faking injuries or wasting time for about 15 minutes of the 45 and the ref would still be like "Max 4 minutes stoppage time". I think this is much better.
Look, if Spurs loose a couple of games, it's still early in Ange's tenure. The fans, or at lease a vocal minority might uproar for a bit, but Ange is a great manager for instilling belief and a sense of purpose in his squads. If they lose a few, the players will keep the faith, and they will bounce back. Losses are inevitable. It's ridiculous to think after the fundamental changes Ange has made to the squad that they would immediately become world beaters, but he's building a VERY solid tactical and motivational foundation within the club which is the key point, and that would take a lot to break down. You've all seen how Ange speaks in pressers and interviews, he's convinced half the world to get behind him based on just that. Just imagine he's doing that direct to you for hours a day directly like he is to the players and staff. You'd run through a brick wall for him.
I think a lot of people have underestimated how tough Tottenhams first few fixtures are. Sheffield are one of the few teams in the league who will shamelessly sit in the box with 11 men, and Brentford are another. Tottenham drew away to Brentford as their first ever match with Postecoglou and their record against the top 6 was the best in the league last season, and they hadn't lost a home game in 13 games. Smashing a high line freshly promoted Burnley was a given but still great to see. They are going places this season for sure.
@@horsebox5138against attacking team, spurs would be fine I guess but against counter attacking team. Spurs seems to be in trouble since fullbacks are always high up.
@@horsebox5138I don’t think the Arsenal result will reveal much because it doesn’t matter what form we’re in, we don’t do well at the Emirates. But I’m hoping to see a good fight! Still more positive this year than any other year but this is my least favorite fixture every season
This is why I’m not swallowing the excuses people make for ten hag, your telling me because we didn’t get Frankie De Jong we can’t play his brand of football? This man is 5 games in an already playing attacking football while we are on season 2 wiht no signs of progress 😭😭😭
As an arsenal fan, I am happy to see spurs doing well. I know other gooners would say its sacriligeous to say that, but as a non Brit, it's united and Chelsea who piss me off more. Plus posteglou is probably the coolest manager in the league right now. Can't contain the hype for next week's nld.
Likewise Mate ,Arsenal fan 60 odd years either way makes no difference to me Arsenal should have won it last year ,didn't, 😢😢😢 I won't cry in my beer if Arsenal don't, win only following Spurs because of Ange ,will be happy for a draw, cheers mate from OZ.😅😅
Exactly I have never hated Spurs ever its Yanited and Chelsea that I despise with a passion also I'm Irish and with Celtic being my Second team its good to see Postecoglue doing well
@@leespn4396please explain why Spurs are the worst, I genuinely want to know. The past 2 to 3 years everybody seems to hate Spurs and I have no clue what they’ve done to touch you all like that
Thanks for the compliments mate, he’s to come by someone who actually gives us credit and not shit on us for who knows what reason. My old man was an Arsenal supporter so we used to go watch the derbies at our local sports bar was good bonding time with him. I feel a lot worse towards Chelsea than arsenal can’t stand those fans. Living with a silver spoon in their mouth for the last 20 years and act like they performed miracles that would rival Jesus Christ himself! Have no self respect for their club running in Abramovich oil money and now an American Football Manager owner who spends sickening amounts of money it’s disgusting. I can never comprehend supporting a club that is rotten inside and out.
I worry about Tottenham's performance against the stronger teams, however what can be seen is that Ange's plan is of long implementation, Spurs will not be "fixed" in a season, it will take some time, and as of yet, some positive results are there and hopefully more will come
Brentford an Manchester U strong team 2 all draw away 2 nil win at home, the test will come this week an next week Arsenal should have won the league last season didnt man city ran them down , dont worry about Tottenham performance ,December will tell you were Tottenham is at. Cheer mate from OZ
@@QuotidianStupidity Yeah, would have liked Ange to stay at Brisbane Roar a bit longer and he kept on a one year rolling contract with Celtic. Might be different if he's on 4 years with Spurs. Will be interesting at least. Best Cheers
Tottenham are much better. They probably deserve a bit more credit. If they can get 4/6 points in their next 2 games then I would say yes they are the real deal.
I really love to see how Spurs are playing Ball right now under ANge Postecoglu but as a Tottenham fan I need to stay realistq we just played 5 games and we still need a whole season to go. (I'm worried about the fact if we can keep this type of ball in hands and if we can crush it untill the end of the season) but I really hope Ange will improve us so much! Come on you Coys!
Never thought that when Kane left we would have 4-5 players competing for the role of our best player Vicario, Udogie, Romero, Bissouma, Maddison and Son have literally been 9/10 so far this season
Wow, first time I've seen your stuff and it's awesome! Objective, insightful, moderate, intelligent, and with a soft voice that feels like a massage after a tough day at work! 👍
They are just super exciting team to watch. They don’t have name values like ManCity, Liverpool, ManU but they are young and similar to Arsenal and very offensive minded. Can’t wait until next two matches against Arsenal and Liverpool.
The VAR room was doing what it always does helping Manu Liverpool and Arsenal 3 mins at arse, no penalty even though blatant and the challenge onn Son was a penalty the players clearly played Son rather than the ball.
I was there at the game and the atmosphere whole game was unreal, especially after we equalised and scored again. Everybody was behind Richy supporting him as soon as he came on as well. A real togetherness between the club and between fans I’ve not seen in a long time.
First time watching and this was very good commentary. Editing with cut shots was superb. I think Ange has the magic touch and the team feels close again like early Poch. Past teams would have lost that game. Good times, now we smash the Gooners! New subscriber!
Great video, dude. It’s true that Spurs have a big, tough next two games but, TBF this is a brand new Spurs. The team that collapsed last year was the same old team that collapses every year. They had no manager for the last 3 months of the season & were in 4th when Conte left. A lot of points were thrown away by Lloris & Dier & neither of them have been near the team this season. A brand new defence & midfield with only the front 3 similar & even that’s only 2 of them as Kane is gone. Spurs fans haven’t taken a manager in as fully & as frankly as they have with big Ange for as long as I can remember. (50 years). 🤔 Whatever happens is only the start but I’m sure they can get top 5 & Champions League, especially considering where Man Utd & Chelsea are at right now, squad wise.
They’ve done this before tho and ended up with nth to show for it despite good football. Don’t comment or predict anything. Wait until the end of the season.
What’s interesting is that the bookmakers have a arsenal odds on to beat Tottenham. Does that make Tottenham a good value bet at 4-1 to draw or 4-1 to win Either way .is there that much a difference in quality ?
Yeah he's devastated seeing spurs get knocked out of a cup before it even began and then saw the team almost lose to Sheffield United before richarlison of all people bailed them out 😂😂
I'm a Spurs fan. We are all behind Ange. Every one of us. You talk about clips of Conte resurfacing so you clearly don't know what you're talking about. Conte is the most hated manager of the past decade for our club (though Poch the snake is up there). He destroyed us by playing utter dross throughout all of last season, blaming players for his shit tactics, and complaining about Levy despite being backed heavily in all three of his transfer windows. We don't care if we lose a few games, we can finish 10th for all we care. We're playing the best football in the league. We're loving Big Ange instead.
Why was poch a snake?? He had yers a top club for years without having money to spend Spurs fans lately like Everton fans years ago when Martinez had that great first season. Demonising Moyes tenure after Bobby had only got a few good results Guess which manager Everton fans called for to comeback?? Ain't Bobby brown shoes😂😂
I think the biggest thing going for the Spurs and keeping momentum is they aren't in Europe this year. The biggest weakness of the squad is depth in the midfield and backline. Less games helps with rest for the starting 11 Which I think it makes them dangerous in the league this year. Giving them the January and next summers transfer window to add quality depth can make them a very dangerous team in Europe next year if they get top-6. And I truly believe they can especially with a good January window.
It's June. Conte's sitting back in his villa hearing that Ange has been hired. Imagine his mood right now. Stay safe Antonio. Relax at home for a while and seriously take up a national team role, with players suited to your style. You would have the pick of the pack, and you won't be restricted by someone like Levy.
You say he is a terrorist, i always said Conte is a die had Chelsea fan and was at Spurs to fuck us up. Even after the start we had last season, i knew it was only a matter of time before the downward spiral started, we rode our luck far too often. Onwards and upwards, much more happy with this team, and there will be ups and downs, its football.
If u think ange will have pressure at spurs will be nothing in compromising to Celtic, you lose two in a row up here people will call for you to be sacked u could win one outa three trophies and it’s not good enough. He has been under pressure and performed am sure that any pressure he gets at spurs will be easily manageable for him
Tottenham haven't had a rough patch yet. That's when they seem to break down. When it's not going their way fans are criticising that when they fall. And blame the manager.
Our starting 11 is really good, it’s the bench I’m worried about. If we get past Liverpool and Arsenal, I think it proves our first team’s quality and perhaps we have a chance at winning the title with that momentum
Veliz and Phillips will have step up for spurs. Davies can be an ok sub, bentancur will come back and most likely rotate with sarr, we are fine with attackers but LB and RB and CBS are scarily out of depth
It was the bench that got the result, or am I mistaken? Could only get the timeline commentary in Australia so it was a bit frustratingly nail biting. Can't wait for the next game..
i think most people are wrong about waiting to play the best teams out there because SPURS in the past had lost to many bad teams but beat the good teams....so lets give SPURS at least some hope of winning.....better teams....
Yeah iirc spurs had the best record against the top 6 teams in the league last season, they just had many problems constantly dropping points against the weaker teams
Not had a proper test yet. Man Utd are the biggest team they've played but they're so off at the moment it doesn't mean too much. The defence is going to struggle against a team running at them like Arsenal will and goals are hard to come by without Kane. Great to watch tho'.
That Spurs vs Sheffield game was basically a 1999 Champions League Final. Two goals in just a last minutes of injury time, but in 100th minutes! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He's doing it again. Last time, he gave raving thoughts on Liverpool, and you know what happened last season. If Spurs capitulate this season. You know where to find him. He is the Juju-man. Hahahaha. Kidding mate. Nice take.
I think Tottenham will do wrong to press and play the way they have been playing at the Emirates. The NLD derby will decide how really good Tottenham actually are if they can win then just maybe they are a top 4 contender but Im not sure that will happen. The question also comes to how flexible their coach is. If they play the same type of football the entire season they eventually be countered
