It's really very best explanation by you regarding ULIP plans with proof many people only said it's may be good but didn't given any proof as u showed figures with chart regarding plans which is good and decent package for moderate risk bearer and moderate investors, and tax savers along with life protection product. Very many people tells about mutual funds Sip and lots of investment options for different purposes but in assumed rates and in unprofessional way. There is no income tax benefit in ULIPs now.ULIPs and MFs are treated equally.ULIPs give an option to invest only in SELECT MFs of their sister AMCs that may not be that good.Ex.ICICI Bluechips rolling returns regularly fails to even beat Benchmark index.On the debt side the rolling returns of the available mutual funds are not that good either.Note that the MF options to choose are limited to AMCs Average funds, mostly.Why pay Fund Management charges for a ULIP in addition to their underlying mf expenses.I would rather take a term insurance and invest in Index MFs/ETFs (N50,NN50,N100 ,S&P500 etc), Debt MFs , Soverign Gold Bonds ,Real estate instruments (i.e diversify as per my needs and optimise my returns).Just an another view...

Agreed to everything but the tax part of it. ULIPs have tax benefit on both the premium paid as per section 80(c) and the return generated at the end of the term as per section 10(10C) of the IT act.

Sir If we invest in ulip not for insurance but just for investment then arent they better than MF? Eg: in MFs if after 10 yrs my capital gains is 50 lac then i will have to pay 5 lakhs as tax, but in case of ulip my capital gains will be tax free! So if lock-in period of 5 yrs is not a issue for an investor then is ULIP better than MF just for investment purpose?

Thanks for sharing information. I feel the biggest problem for ulip the your money will stuck with somebody till ur long term period completed . As it is a long term holding any disaster(apart from death )can happen in any bodys life that moment people feel the pain of Ulip plan. ( do ur own mutual fund with expert consultants + term insurance)
@NRIMoneyClinic
@NRIMoneyClinic 4 года назад
Mr Prakash .. you have a point . But your arguments are flawed 1. ULIPs do not lock your money for long term. They are liquid beyond 5 years . 2. You dont buy ULIP for insurance . Rathet make best use of insurance to create tax arbitrage . 3. If a person has properly maintained emergency funds , there is no need to maintain 100% liquidity in every investment 4. Liquidity in many cases is harmful for many persons 5. Going by your arguments no one should invest in PPF , NSC , PMVVY, NPS , land , house , real estate scheme because they all lock your capital for long periods . The problem is not the product ULIP , problem is lack of planning.

With all due respect, Why were u considering mutual fund will give return of 8%percent only???.... can u tell us how much is the benefit from mutual fund with a return of 10 or 11%.
@NRIMoneyClinic
@NRIMoneyClinic 3 года назад
Illustration is not a measure of return. It is just for calculation of impact of charges . You need a fixed rate of return to compute this . Both mutual funds and ulips have given far higher returns than 8 %. The return of 8% is just an anchor and has nothing to do with actusl returns . Both mutual funds and ulips will give same returns in long term as they operate in same market.

Ya, go ahead put ten lakh per month for 1cr insurance get ready to lock the money for 20 yrs to get all the benefits i.e. 1.07% expense ratio. And yes, get either death benifit or fund value, not both. Whereas, I will only give 9000 per month for a 1cr term ins. And will put 991000 into mutual funds for better return (low expense ratio) and freedom of liquidity. The 🍒 on top is that, I will enjoy both death (in case of death) benefit and fund value. I won't seek financial suggestions from this guy, thats for sure. Peace.
@lravikumar

Signature is good plan for HNI who can wait for 20 years. Most of the ULIP in the market are fraud. They mint money using different charges like Policy administration charges, Policy allocation charges, Fund management charges, Mortality charges etc. Expense ratio shown is around 1.07 only if we invest for 20 years. If we simulate for 5 years then expense ratio will come more than 4%

Isn't it better to spent those money in MF and for first 10 year take a term insurance for 1 Cr which might cost hardly on maximum side around 15000 INR per year instead of 10 Lakh per year of premium

If you plan to invest in unit-linked insurance policies (ULIPs), merely for their tax-free maturity proceeds, you need to think again. Budget 2021 has decided to roll back this exemption to ULIPs if their annual premiums exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. This will be applicable to ULIPs bought on or after February 1, 2021. “Such ULIPs will now be treated as capital assets and profits and gains from such ULIPs will now be taxable as capital gains,”

Hi Sir. Namaste. I have started my investment journey last yr with ULIP. I have been investing in 4 different ULIP plans (HDFC, SBI, TATA, BAJAJ), 25k per month overall since March 2021 i.e. for the last 16 months. I have invested about 4.5lacs. Its giving about 10% returns per yr so far. Recently I realized that returns in direct mutual funds are better than ULIP. Since minimum pay duration in ULIP is 5yrs to avail market returns, otherwise if I don't pay further premiums the funds will be in discontinued state and total amount of aprox. 5+ lacs can be withdrawn only after completing 5yrs duration. What do you recommend sir? Ulips dont earn 8% . They earn same rate of return as that if mutual funds . 8% is rate considered for preparing illustration. It is not a measure of rate of return

Nice Video with all details. I have a question? I took ICICI Elite with 2L premium per year for 5 years and policy was for 10 years. Now 5 years is complete and corpus is around 12.7 L. The relationship manager is suggesting to take up ICICI Signature plan where in the 2 Lakh premium will be taken from Elite corpus every year for 5 years . When is your suggestion, should I agree? My age now is 46 years

@@DeepCastingWithAbhi Hi . I have been wanting to know that weather or not should I quit my HDFC pro growth ULIP . I have already paid 7 premiums? Please suggest. I am so confused. should I surrender policy and invest my annual premium of 50 K in mutual funds and alongside buy term insurance as I am already 48 years old female? My HDFC relationship manager approached me and advised me to start click to invest policy within my policy premium amount that I will be doing which will give me double maturity benefit from two policies , the second policy will be running within the first policy which means its would be generating its premium from the first policy. The click to wealth policy will give 8 percent annual return .

Other Wise if you can Happy with current Plan Return, you can Withdraw the Amount, because you have 5 years Passed Now you can also Surrender the Policy without any charges. Invest in Mutual funds . My Suggestion: you Can Withdraw Sort Of Money Per Years Like 10% and Invest in Mutual funds From This Plan So Withdraw., SWP(contact branch) And Listen you already 47-50 years with this age term plan is very Expensive i request you to not 🚫 do that... There is a very big problem with ULIP investment. Not very transparent, it is hard to find the performance chart unlike mutual funds where you can find past performance from years. You cannot control how much equity and debt should that ULP fund has. So saying that ULIP and Mutual funds perform similarly is not a right thing to say
@NRIMoneyClinic
@NRIMoneyClinic 3 года назад
Please watch the video before commenting . Do your research correctly before passing judgement . ULIPs are extremely transparent, infact over transparent. Fund performance of ULIP plans is in public domain. They are available on 24x7 basis on the websites of companies . ULIPs are very well regulated . If you do not understand something , please ask questions , not pass judgments. This is a serious forum

Many Thanks for this video. I wanted to enquire if ULIPs are suitable investment options as off late there have been many advisors and articles just plainly advising never to mix investment and insurance. Your video clearly lays down the facts and will help investors in taking an informed decision. I guess it has attracted a bit of negative publicity as many agents or investors do not see it as long term investment vehicle. If they buy it for short term horizon naturally the expense will be higher and returns will be lower. Thanks for the detailed information and illustration.

Dear Rajesh, Finance industry has stopped evaluating things in a objective way. Everyone is trying to project the good things in their business models. There is no need to paint any one black just because it does not suit them . ULIPS have huge tax arbitrage . You don't buy a ULIP for insurance , rather use insurance component in it to exploit tax arbitrage for a small price. Seasoned advisors know this fact very well , but just refuse to stick their neck out for fear of other mutual fund distributors making negative publicity about them . There was a time mutual fund distributors used to churn portfolios to create an income out of customers fund. Regulators have slapped a door on their face now

But here for Life coverage of 1Cr, policy holder paying 10 Lakhs which is very very costly insurance but if we choose any Term plan, 45 years old person can pay maximum of 30 to 35 K for same 1Cr of life coverage. On top of it Mortality charges unnecessarily deducted every month to serve such huge costlier insurance with lock-in of our funds for such huge period. Do you really think this kind of policy is worthy...? I don't think so.. In my perspective if we choose Term plan for Life coverage + Reasonable performing any Passive index or Sensex mutual fund will save lot of money and also create better wealth.
@NRIMoneyClinic
@NRIMoneyClinic 2 года назад
You do not buy a ulip for the sake of insurance.. if you do , it will be a horrible mistake . You invest via ulip to take advantage of tax arbitrage that comes with insurance as a combo.
@bhaskarmangala3689
@bhaskarmangala3689 2 года назад
But this combo is very costly for both insurance point of view and Equity investment perspective also.. Simple Term insurance + Simple Passive Index fund will save lot of money w.r.t expense Ratio and create better wealth.. There is no Guarantee that in Future ULIP can't be TAX free also.. But for the sake of Tax free investment, in my perspective ULIP's are not good choice because it's neither good investment for insurance nor good for wealth creation also. Infact it will burn our wealth by locking our Liquidity..

The fallacy is, 1Cr Sum Assured is very little for the family of a person who can invest 10L per year in this scheme. They can surely buy a Term Insurance at a fraction of the cost and invest the money in equity.
