Sparg0 and Tweek were a lot better than the others to be honest. Luigi isn't very hype to watch but he was playing well. Sparg0 was better though, clearly.

Strangely enough, I've found that playing Ultimate throws my Melee off alot more than Melee throws my Ultimate off. Idk how good it'd be for the competitors to play through a whole bracket.

Kola used to be pr'd in his region, Sparg0 just has very good fundies and picked a synergistic character

I feel Fox fits Kola better because Melee Roy is an entirely different beast from Ult Roy. He's much less of an explosive rushdown, more of an awkward mid-range swordie who has a very limited and linear gameplan. In Melee, Roy's animations are slower than Marth with less effective range, and he has a very bad air game, which severely limits his success vs floaties with survivability like Peach and Samus. Fox fits Kola better imo because he is a fast paced rushdown, which I feel is closer to Ult Roy in terms of playstyle. Another decent fit I feel would work for Kola is Falcon.

Tbf, Marth Luigi is pretty bad for Luigi if both players are competent. The matchups in Melee are actually pretty bad if it's disadvantage, not Brawl bad but still bad.

But yea input buffer would make melee feel clunky af and what kind of buffer would wavedashes be input buffered? what about JC grabs cant have those with input buffer. Melee has a ton mechanics and moves that require to buttom presses on two diffrent frames having a 1 frame buffer would make doing JC grabs impossible it wold just buffer a jump or grab leads to all kinds of issues melee doesnt need buffer you wouldnt have even noticed it existed if you didnt google it

No, buffers lower the skill ceiling. If you feel the need to have buffers, then you're not precise enough with your inputs and so you require assistance. As the saying goes, just git gud.

@@ergosiris101 It doesnt matter if buffers lower the skill ceiling, it makes the game bearable for new players, otherwise it feels awful to do basic actions. Just because youve had 20 years yo get used to these mechanics doesnt mean theyre a good design decision.

I would say its the other way around other smash games are way more lenient for newer players. The fact that melee has no buffer also makes it really hard for an ultimate player to just casually pick the game up. On the other hand we've seen Melee pros like IBDW, Mang0 and Hbox be alright at ultimate since day 1 without needing a lot of help. Meanwhile put an ultimate pro to play melee and they need someone to kinda teach them how to play.

You got it switched. Be able to get out of pools in melee at a local and you can get and keep elite smash/get top 8s in ult locals in your sleep.
