Living beings can be classified into 5 kingdoms. Animal, Plant, Fungi, Protist and Monera. Out of these 5, brains and nervous system are found only in the animal kingdom, hence they feel, pain, suffering, joy and are conscious in this world like you and me. Hence they matter on a moral level. The rest are living but insentient, so the comparison is invalid.
Also if you care about plants it makes sense to eat them and not animals. Do you know why? Because it takes on average 16 kgs of plants to produce 1 kg of animal flesh. You are killing more plants and also killing animals by being a non vegan, a vegan however causes the least amount of harm.

I been for a vegan for 25 years and my personal question to you is if 10 years back I was having a dog and I was feeding Pedigree to it but it's having meat make sure you always felt very guilty to feed it to my dog the world slowly turning into vehicles if the world turn fully vegan how do can we feed dogs which are in straight or our home dogs cats and other animals that rely on meat and humans

The comprehension is exclusive to vegan intellects. Our physique is adapted for a non-vegetarian diet. Even drug testing involves animals. Embracing veganism seems pointless unless one has a surplus of free time in their life.

Ban music industry. Ban percussion instruments like tabla, miruthangam in concerts. There is hide glue used in many instruments like guitar, harmonium, horse hair used in violin bows, there is leather cladding in harmonium and sarangi made from goats skin. So talk about that too.

1. Plants are living being. No dispute! 2. Plants are sensitive. No dispute! But.... To feel pain, a specie must be SENTIENT. The specie must hv nervous system, and brain. Plants do not have brain so they can't feel pain. 3. Plants are NOT sentient. People erroneously confused sensitivity with feeling pain. Two are not necessarily the same.

Bro for humans to survive other species have to get hurt. It is just how less that pain and suffering needs to be. IMO even if we assume that plants feel pain, can we honestly say that it is equivalent to the pain felt by animals? And also the animals that are slaughtered or used for dairy are also fed plants. I love the fact that Arvind asks the questioner whether they would bring up the 'plant sentience' defense in response to an issue like child or dog abuse before relying on the fact that we have to kill more plants to feed animal agriculture. A better way to argue would be to explain the amount of plant resources needed to produce 100g of chicken. Even if we consider that plants may experience some form of distress, a significant number of plants must be used to generate an equivalent quantity of nutrients obtained from animals.

They give these kinda arguments when they actually feel guilty about being immoral and question their evolutionary growth. I was once a meat eater, when my friends asked me, why I eat meat and love dogs on the other hand, unfortunately I haven’t ever given this logic of plants have lives. Anybody, who is giving these logics after watching the horrible footages, unfortunately their pre frontal cortex hasn’t evolved much and you cannot explain them on the basis of compassion. Arvind certainly kicked off with a compelling argument, but its presentation could have been smoother and more logically structured. Indeed, plants do experience pain and affection - it's essentially the crux of life and how various species have thrived and survived. While it may seem hypocritical to draw a line, isn't it more about finding an optimal balance? We need to be compassionate while also ensuring our survival. Minimizing food waste, adopting veganism or ethical and sustainable meat consumption, curtailing large-scale unsustainable unethical farming and breeding - these are all steps towards respecting food, life and the planet. I would say it even aligns perfectly with the adage, "Every morsel you eat is divine." Just gather some good karma while you're here folks, wouldn't hurt 😄😉

Hey arvind, im from Bangladesh, my question is iodine is essential for our body right? i was vegan for 28 days, but i stopped being vegan and started eating eggs,, because im concerned about iodine,, in my country iodine is in salt, but they mentioned that there is 20-50ppm iodine on an 1kg salt packet,, is there enough iodine on the packet of 1 kg salt? Humans are made up by five elements as water, earth, fire, air and ether. The more elements we are made of, feel more pain.

Why talk about plants? This event or lecture is not about plants. Ok sure go create a plant activism and if you do then the first thing you would have to do is avoid animal products because that is the most inefficient way to product calories because they eat a whole lot of plants!
