You know what's crazy, Maddie? It's taking a trip with Sarah and Tori (I forgot where) and having a one in a million chance meeting a new friend and nurturing that friendship. And now you're living in Germany with Elli, Eliza, renovating a cute little house and taking dips in a quiet pond with a pet duck. Life is crazy and beautiful and all of those things. This gently reminds me to embrace life and let it guide me to live it to its fullest and that anything is possible. With much love to you.

Maddie, put broken egg shells around your plants to keep the slugs from eating them. This is a great tip from my garden in the Pacific Northwest area! Love your ducks!

Oh man, ants will always find places to live and breed…always. I put ant baits all around my back patio, sides of my driveway near the garage door, etc. It helps keep the numbers down better than anything else I’ve tried. Watching how Audi (sp?) follows you like a puppy, especially at the pond with him swimming along side you both is the cutest thing ever. 🥰 I believe he thinks you both are just really big, funny looking ducks! And he loves you.

Hey, I live in Switzerland and have a vegetable garden that was regularly decimated by slugs. I finally found the solution: a 70cm tall (like hip level) stone raised bed, 1.5 meters by 20 meters. The stone bricks have a rough surface and it's high enough that most slugs never make it up! I grow all kinds of salad and herbs, and I also don't need to bend over to maintain it! I totally recommend it!

Hi Maddie, just wanted to say i love your channel. More so now that you bought a house and all the renovations that you both are doing. I was born and raised in Germany now living in the USA “Florida”. You mentioned in your video about the slugs 🐌. I came across this article in “gardening tips” and it says: Beer for Slug Traps Recipe: Bury a container up to its rim near affected plants and fill it with beer. Why it works: Slugs are attracted to the Yeast in beer and will crawl in, but they wont be able to crawl out, affectively trapping them. Hope this helps. I mean it sounds better to me rather then gathering them up one by one each night. Have a blessed week. ❤

I tended to be very addicted to our reno process, never took any day off or vacations: it needed to be done the quickest as possible. Oh boy was I wrong! We finally took a 10days vacation to a cabin nearby and that was the best vacations ever. I learnt to enjoy the process by taking time off!

Love this video so much- the co-swimming made me squeal with cuteness and is exactly something me and my person would do. You guys are so sweet and seem so fun. I’m hoping to be back in south Germany this fall. I lived there last summer for a few months and fell in love. Except for the slugs… we collected at least 100 over a few days and took them to the forest for fear they’d return 😂 we called it their relocation lol

My duck pond that I had in the backyard of my house. I just use a kitty pool so I could dump it out and then refill the brand new water when I needed to……. but I also made a pond in the front yard for decoration and what I used was a toilet float hooked to a garden hose to keep the water level at the right height in combination with an overflow pipe…… if it was too little water, the float would drop down and it would automatically add water and then shut off just like in the back of a toilet…… and if it rained too much and it got too full, the water would go out the overflow and into a French drain I made with gravel and filter fabric Once I put both of those two into my pond. I never had to worry about the water level at all. It automatically adds water. It automatically releases water.
