Referring to the magsafe on other phones topic around 22:00, I actually found out just today that Spigen has what they call "Spigen OneTap Ring Adapter". It's essentially just Mag Safe shaped magnet strip that you can adhere to any phone. I know it's not as neat as having the magnets built into the case itself but it is another good option to add MagSafe to any phone... as long as you align it correctly.

I bet Apple wants to give people MagSafe because none of their phones are working consistently with traditional Qi wireless charging pads anymore, especially in cars - not sure if that’s due to the magnetic ring or the comically large camera bump

We had it. When I had the nexus 5, I bought the accompanying wireless charger. That thing had crazy magnets that would stick the back of the phone. If you didn't use the sticky pad to secure it to a surface then it would function the same as MagSafe. At the time, people thought it was annoying.

Apple is probably getting ready for mandatory standards from the EU and other countries when they implement them like they implemented the USB C standard so that they do not need to align with standards from others but that others apply Apple standard for wireless charging.

Great that you’re covering XR/VR. I own Oculus Quest 2 and NReal Air AR glasses. I’ve found I use the NReal Air AR glasses every day with my iPad Pro or iPhone to watch RU-vid, Netflix, Disney+ etc.. on 130 to 200 inch virtual screens. Whereas I have used OC2 once in a while ever since I had them. I feel claustrophobic wearing generic OC2 form factor HMDs. I love my NReal Air AR glasses as they’re very light weight and let me be aware of my surroundings and they look thick framed Ray-Bans. Less awkward wearing in public places. Hope other companies take notes from the NReal Air AR glasses.

It allows the kid to call the parents by pressing the SOS button for more than 3 seconds. It sends notif and location of the watch to the parent everytime it is removed. It has a 0.5MP camera for facetime lol. There are many other features as well. They are also planning to develop one for elderly people who have difficulty in looking after themselves

is it just me, or the camera facing Marques have a really good lens attached to it. like quality of his skin and the skin tone is soooo good, I may have never seen something like this before. like the aperture on the camera looks like 1.6-1.8 as the background blur, but then the focus point is so long, from his nose to the back of his shoulder, is bizarly on focus, or maybe it's just a 35mm 1.8... I don't know.. just wanna know more about the lens. I watch all of the WVFRM episodes in 1440p but in this specific episode something looks different about the camera on the Marques face. Maybe I'm wrong maybe not..

34:04 ok, so I think I understand what Apple’s plan with Qi2. Something that was only barely brought up was AirPods Pro 2 magnets, but I think that’s the answer. There are two different arrays in the case to support both the MagSafe puck, and the Apple Watch charger puck. I think apple will keep their separate array, with the alignment and processor as MagSafe features, as well as add the Qi2 array.

I think The Qi2 standard will say it uses magnets to align like you said, but "true" magsafe is the microprocessor communication between the "puck" and the iphone to talk to each other for features exclusive to Apple devices. But I am sure Android manufactures like Samsung can put Qi2 magnets in new phones and sell their own pucks that can have their own microprocessor to use features on Galaxy Devices also

5:36 How quickly did they forget that the Studio Display has a 12MP webcam, which also outputs at 4K? People talked 24/7 about how "bad" it was but didn't really understand the product in the first place. The reason it rendered relatively low-quality image is that the whole feature of the Studio Display's webcam was it would follow you around as you moved, which requires the lens to have a 122 degree viewing angle. And that meant those 12 million pixels would spread across that big of a view, so by the time it cropped into your picture, the pixel count for your body was even less than 720p.

This was an issue on Pixel 6 Pro. One day I opened up my camera app and saw a hairline crack on the internal glass, not the glass back, not the glass bar on the back, the lens itself. I did some research and a handful of other ppl on Reddit had the same thing happen.

I think, that the Qi2 is not a problem with earbuds, because Airpods also have Magsafe, the "as they see fit" could mean, that they dont need a full circle but also just a small part (like on the Airpods case)

Looking at the Vive XR reminds me so much of HTC in it's heyday. Pushing the envelope of what's accepted as possible, whilst always maintaining the highest standards and giving the consumer the best quality product. It was rare where their phones were not significantly better and more premium than what Samsung or Apple offered at basically the same price, and often the big players would be copying their innovations and ideas on a regular basis and trying to play catch up. But their marketing was always so so bad. Them effectively leaving the smartphone market has left it considerably worse off. Really hope they're able to build back up again to become a significant player in tech in general some day as the world would be better off for it.

Any kind of wireless charging is converting electrical energy to magnetic energy and back to EE. So adding magnets complicates things for anything that produces magnetic energy hence Qi 2.0 for now is restricted to 15W. But higher power is solvable problem
@Toprani
@Toprani Год назад
In the current scenario, when you put a case on an iPhone the magnetic capabilities anyway get diminished, so I don't see the point of qi 2, considering everyone uses phone cases. You could get magsafe cases, but those would be expensive as Andrew mentioned, but rn you can literally make any phone a magsafe phone, there are these adhesive metal rings made by a company called ESR, they cost like 10 to 15 bucks for a pack of 2, pretty worth it imo.

Often when I want to charge another device it is difficult to find a suitable point for it. Xiaomi wireless charging charges the phone in 40 minutes while the iPhone charges in three hours.

secondly, Apple's MagSafe magnet arrays were in a circle format. Qi 2 was going for a square and rectangle arrangement. RUMOR: Samsung has already planned to extend its Qi2 wireless module with its in-house chip. This chip was rumored to allow file transfer when plugged into a PC and perform other USB capabilities (flashing, access recovery mode, debugging mode, appear on android studio for developers) basically what wired USB does at the moment for future portless devices.

@@Manganellia1 I guess the best way to answer is that I never used cases on any of my iPhones. I tried them and hated them all. I love this case. It adds a little more bulk of course but it just feels like part of the phone. Even the buttons. They feel like buttons and not some kind of over molding it's not rubber or plastic. It's some kind of foam but it feels hard in a premium way. I have dropped it. It bounced and landed on the screen. Not even a scratch.
@HulkStillGotIt

You know I don't think I ever gave you the answer you were looking for. I got the leather styled one. I used the phone without a case for a while after I got it.
