Hey natural squad! In this video I am doing a product review on blue magic hair grease and how it has helped grow my type 4 natural hair. Stay tuned for more weekly content by hitting the notification bell! Love you all!
I haven’t been able to retain length in my nape since I was a kid. I kept trying to figure out why I had long hair as a child but can’t grow long hair now. It hit me, my mom used grease! I started using blue magic on my nape a month ago and the bald spots are filling in. I’m so mad I listened to the “natural community” and stopped using grease. Oils/butters don’t lock moisture into my high porosity hair at all. I’ve tried every natural oil/butter, LCO/LOC and 20 minutes later my hair is thirsty. Now I apply a leave in and some grease and my hair stays moist for a week. My hair also likes silicones and I use sulfates. I learned to stop listening to people and listen to my hair instead.
Yes, this is good news! I really encourage everyone to just go back to what worked for them years ago. We are able to grow long and healthy hair. We just need a solid routine, patience, and some tender lovin' care. Good luck on your hair journey!!!!!
OMG! Me too. I was itching so badly and said hmmmm. I have blue magic, let me see! Babbee, when I tell you the thirst was real cause I felt the hydration after I put it on my scalp
LOVEYOU! Omg I've been looking for this answer boo! I have nape issues too. I am 7.5 months post relaxer. I have been using doogro and sulfur8 and I think it's working however it tarnishes my silver jewelry. I am wear protective styles now. When the other grease runs out I'll try Blue Magic. Which Blue magic do you use?
I just started using Blue magic sure grow and in about a week I already saw hair growth and I was SHOOK😭 I miss this grease my hair used to be down my back😕 it’s time to get back to the old days🥳
Hair grease is brilliant, I’ll never go back to anything else. I use hair grease and about 2 weeks ago I cut my ends and the grease really grew my hair out quick time. Nothing but grease for me.
Kenneth Caudle I actually use blue Magic hair grease but I use the white one with the Japanese tea tree leaves in it😍 but I recently started to put my own little ingredients that help my hair retain moisture and length in it, like my preferred oil. And I’m not “Recommending” this but I also mix Monistat into if you don’t know what that is just look it up. It basically kills bacteria and fungus (which is what the grease build up can creates) so a clean scalp and moisture is what I have. But with all of that I have been seeing large amounts of growth in only a few weeks every time I get my hair re-braided.
My husband said I need to be washing my hair every 3 days and I looked at him like he was crazy. It takes *at least* 4 hours to do my hair and you want me to do this twice a week? Absolutely not. Grease enters the picture bc 1) it works, 2) inexpensive, and 3) actually gives me space in my cabinet. Plus i have 2 other girls to style.... ain't nobody got time for that
In what order? Do you use the leave in before or after grease? And is this everyday? I recently bought a leave in spray and grease but I’m not sure in what order to use it.
Pious Zormelo Hello! I thought I'd help! grease is a sealant. So you can use it last :). So first spray your hair with water, apply your leave-in, and then apply grease and twists it up. This process gives me 4 days of moisture but everyone's hair is different. If you do mini twists like the ones in this video, you repeat the process but replace the grease with an oil. This way you are manipulating your hair less, and you can leave the style in for a week or two before washing or retwisting (depends on your wash day schedule). Hope this helps! :) I typically leave mine in for two weeks, with remoisturizinf with water, leave in, and oil every 4 days. Then at wash days, I wash and repeat the entire process with grease.
Noir V Hello and sure thing! A general hair routine is as follows: (1)shampoo then rinse (2)condition or deep conditioner then rinse (3) moisturize and style! Deep conditioning is ( leaving normal conditioner in hair for 10-20 mins or applying an actual hair mask) either will do really! I personally use the Aussie miracle moist conditioner mixed with honey and olive oil because it's a cheaper alternative than $20 hair masks/ deep conditioners. Then after rinsing the conditioner, apply your hair products! Depending on how your hair receives moisture, you can choose lighter or heavier products. I just spray my hair with warm water, apply leave in or a thick cream and then seal with grease. Before moisturizing, I oil my scalp and give myself a nice scalp massage. And I remoisturize every 4-5 days and wash every two weeks. I honestly don't think you need a lot of money or crazy treatments to grow our hair, just patience and consistency while leaving it alone. You can also choose chunky twists or braids (which I've been rocking lately lol) as your weekly style. I prefer chunky twists and just wear head wraps when I need to look more presentable for work and school. Hope this helps!
Its beautiful to see all over the world how we as black men and woman get nostalgic when it comes to hair grease and how our moms used to do our hair😭❤️ Issa cultural ting...
Using hair grease has been a tremendous benefit for my hair and even scalp. It has way more pros than cons. I have less fairy knots, the grease creates a thick barrier on my hair so my hair strands give the appearance of a thicker density. My hair feels so nourished and hydrated for days! I think I'm going to become an advocate with for hair grease, lol.
Wow, yes! Thank you for sharing. I agree that it has so many benefits. The barrier that is creates around your hair is what helps lock in the moisture and create shine. I LOVE IT.
I literally been using grease for a year now because I went back. My hair grew so much. I kept looking for fairy knots through the year. After hours of checking I found 4 in my whole head !!!!
@@gracajose8474 It does help to thicken the edges. I do that too. I think our edges get thin because we tend to forget about them, while treating the rest of our hair. So the edges get dry and brittle and it results in breakage. I like to spray the edges with some water and then use the grease to seal it in. My edges are finally growing in more.
🔴😴I love grease but I use Vaseline and water. Plus, we didn't do all these extra unnecessary steps like deep conditioning and prepoo and etc. We kept it simple and our hair was long and thick. That extra mess started in the late 90s or the 2000s..
Hmm I've never tried Vaseline on my hair before. I'm sure I will run into the same results because the petroleum mimics the hair grease texture. And yes you are so right... deep conditioning and prepooing are additional steps that some people feel like they NEED to do, but I believe in taking the minimalist approach.
@@naturallyny6780 I remember my mom had ran out of my hair grease, but she loved her some vaseline, babbbyyyy she slapped that vaseline on with some warm water on my head and my hair was all long and shiny that week, vaseline keeps it pushing. Then we get all grown and mess it all up.
I went back to grease after washing my hair today. Just took it down to throw on my bonnet for bed..ohhh the beautiful softness and moisture!!!! I’m going back to my childhood haircare for sure now🤗🌺
I cut my hair off and I started back using blue magic hair products and within 8 months my hair can fit back into a ponytail ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I'm a true believer I won't use anything else.
I use their Blue magic vitamin e oil leave in, and the super sure gro grease with water. I have little to no shedding during moisturizing and wash days. Literally threw away everything else #GreaseForeva
Im pregnant now which means im a lazy natural, i wash my hair with ACV. Deep condition , small amount of leave in tgin daily moisturizing butter then blue magic & mini braid my hair for a month .
I'm transitioning & my hair is constantly dry no matter how many heavy creams/butters I use. When I was a kid my mom used blue magic and dax! That's all she used, and my hair was decently long & full, so lemme order a jar right now and see how it goes.
I’m gonna start using blue magic, and other petroleum based hair grease on my hair for the next three months to see how it turns out. My little sister said the reason she has thick hair is because of how much blue magic my mom put in her hair as a kid. Plus it makes my hair softer than oils and butters
@@btsgot720 oh shoot yeah, so like the first few months I flopped because although it was making my hair very soft, I put too much product so it caused build up of product and my hair didn’t perform it’s best. So I started using less and use more water on my hair and now my hair is flourishing !!!
@@btsgot720 no I don’t put it on my scalp. I just apply a small amount on my hair (with water) only until it feels soft. The reason why I don’t put it on my scalp is because our scalp already produces natural oils to sustain it. Unless you have dry scalp issues, then you can apply it on. Ppl say blue magic helped cure their dry scalp.
You have pretty hair🤗Blue Magic is the ONLY grease, I grew up using. I can relate, my hair has been through alot, but ever since I went natural, my hair is stronger, thicker and steadily growing.
Trinity Carter Hi Trinity!!! ✨ Thank you. Yes, that’s all my mother used was hair grease and WATER. A deluxe combo lol! Going back to natural is a beautiful journey and really helps with all around wellness.
a week after applying blue magic ONCE, my twist is STILL juicy lol my hair is so nice and moisturized! my queenbonnets along with the blue magic got my hair so bomb! looking forward to this magical growth as well lol
I also stopped shampooing so often. I'm down to once a month. I rinse, condition, and detangle about every 3-5 days with a cheapie conditioner, rinse out and deep condition with a. heat cap, and use a cheapie conditioner like Aussie Miracle concoction with olive oil and a little castor for a daily leave in.My hair is still recovering from dryness but my hair is drinking up this routine. I hope to be back to waist length soon! I'm so excited to see the comeback of grease! I don't think hair care should be expensive! I think each process should be effective and gentle.
Yessss! You ain’t ever lied! I was doing a twist out the other day expecting to have some shedding but girl my hair snapped right back up into place I’m like hold onnnnn ! Come thru blue magic. I’m hoping it can help grow my problem spot in the middle 🤪. Thanks for the video❤️ new subbie
Greasing your hair 1 time will last for a long time, so I wouldn’t grease my hair but like maybe once per shampoo. And in the summertime I wouldn’t do it all.
Water and grease is the truth! I use my black rice water mix and Blue Magic. My hair is in love! These 2 items have made hair GAW-JUS!!! Soft, moisturized hair for days! I've only been doing this for a week; but, I'm bout to simplify my routine! So, I'll be giving away all of my other natural hair crap and sticking with water and grease for the duration!
@@marcusbushay9087 yes it does, just make sure you hydrate and moisturize your hair really good with water and/or a good leave in conditioner before. If your hair is dry and you put grease on top, you're just sealing in dryness and your hair will remain that way until you wash your hair because moisture can't penetrate your hair when there's a barrier surrounding it.
I can’t use the original green or blue...it’s just too thick for me...but I absolutely love the olive oil scalp conditioner and the Shea butter hair conditioner...and the carrot oil leave in!
Yes sis, they are EVERYTHANG, especially the BM Shea Butter (very light and smells devine too), it's hard to find in my area, BUT..I ran into 2 of the shea butter conditioner and they both came home with me for $3.29 a jar, my hair has to have it period, now I don't have to hunt for it, am good for a long minute.
Yes Yes Ms. Kimberly, BM shea butter is the business, my hair is lovin it, much growth too, gonna use it today it's hair day. Haven't tried the carrot oil leave in, I'm gonna buy some and see how my girl likes it.
I looooooooovvvvvveeeew blue magic coconut oil ! I use it for everything! For styling, conditioning ( I usually do the coconut oil and Jamaican Shea butter after watching and detangling ) moisturizing and leave in conditioner! and sometime I mix it in my spray bottle ! It’s THE BEST ! It grows your hair and it moisturizes !
it smells really good and i wants to know will this make my hair grow it feels good on my scalp i want to see what happens when i continue to use this i want my hair thicker and longer
Petroleum jelly is the first ingredient of Blue Magic and remember Vaseline being one of the things Mom used on me as a kid (along with Blue Magic and Sulfur8). I recently started using Vaseline as a sealant and my hair hasn't dried out in 24 hrs! It feels soft again
It means keeping the length you’ve grown and stopping the breakage at your ends because your hair is always growing no matter what but you wont see any of that growth if you dont retain the length aka moisturizing your hair . ❤️
You still add your water and leave in and seal... if your hair is dry that’s because people think that BM is a permanent seal it’s not that’s why the hair is dry again the water escaped so add more moisture
I wanna go back to the originals but I’m wondering how often I should use blue magic on my hair and should I cornrow my hair while I have it in because I really don’t wanna damage much hair?
just use it when your hair feels dry, use it as a sealant. there’s no strict schedule or rule for natural hair, just listen to what you’re hair is telling you, feel it and see what works best for it at that point.
I currently have really short hair reaching my eyelid if pulled down when not shrunken. I own blue magic super sure gro. How do I apply it to reap the results. Also is the super sure gro not as good as the others?
Wow, that's amazing that you make all your own products. I'm trying to get on your level LOL! I would love to know how the grease works with your products. And thank you for the positive feedback :)
@@naturallyny6780 Thanks for the response! I have an ayurvedic regimen, so I got the Blue Magic Indian Hemp grease and I think it is working well. It has been 3 days and my hair is still moisturized.
@@naturallyny6780 If you do decide to try it on your scalp just use a very small amount. A lot of people tend to be heavy handed with grease. When I use it on my scalp I use a very thin layer and my scalp stays moisturized for a whole week until my next wash day.
@@chocolateme7731 Yes! You are right! I try to use a very small amount. Some people pack it on heavily, but I know that can clog the pores on your scalp and stunt hair growth :)
@@naturallyny6780 this is funny,,black castor oil and my hair fought like dogs and cats my hair won, she said hell haw castor ain't living up in here :)
I swear my hair used to grow so fast back in the day. And my hair has been thru a lot but I’ve been done with dying and frying for years but I still feel like I have barely any length 😐 it had to be the blue magic 🪄 lol
When I was a kid I used blue magic a lot one night my auntie was doing my hair I touched my pigtail to see how much it grew and it was HUGEEE blue magic is a miracle
