Are We Looking At the End Of The AAA Games Industry? 

Instead of "make a fun game and people will buy it" it has become "buy this game or you are either racist, sexist, both, and also it isnt fun"

We dont want thousand hour games with 950 hours of fluf. We want a good game that is maybe a few dozen hours with high replayability. Eg: Minecraft. You could finish it in less than a day, or you could finish it in half a year. No matter what, there will be something you can do. Start with a dirt hut and end up with an empire for your villagers to occupy.

I think Indies taking over would hurt employment and create too many games in a already oversaturated market

@@MumblinGamer Nah, it will promote healthy competition among indy games where the best and quality will rise to top. Personally I can't find any games that would interest me these days and completely dull to photo realistic games of AAA. They feel restrictive and bland, not very flexiable in stylistic apartment due them needing be realistic looking. Not to mention I might not able run or have very bad performance because they cranking graphics in their games and I can't afford buying new pc, especially now when there huge economic crisis. Indy games have more variety, innovative, cheaper and most of the time not very high hardware demanding to run them.

We can all list examples. The point is that for a very long time the AAA/big budget gaming industry represented the peak of gaming and what video games was capable of as a medium. And year after year it improved and pushed new boundries. Modern AAA gaming is the antithesis of that. We can all list Red Dead redemption 2, Ghost of Tsushima and God of War etc. But this used to be the norm. We used to get 10-20 Ghost of Tsushima or Witcher 3 quality games every year. Now we get one every 5-10 years, if even that. And you see how the AAA industry reacts when something like Baldurs gate 3 comes out. The game literarly is just a game from 1999 with modern 3d graphics, mo-capped cutscenes and voiced dialogue, instead of walls of text. But the combat, world exploration, quests and story, and general gameplay is just refined 90s stuff. And modern AAA studios are throwing a hissy fit about not being able to compete with the standard set in the 90s. The game has a big team and a big budget. But nothing compared to AAA. You could have gotten 3 BG3 games for the budget and manpower of Diablo 4 alone. The best citybuilder/rts of the decade will probably be Manorlords. It's made by one person. It outshines and outclasses Ubisofts modern Settlers games and Age of Empires 4. And it even does better than Total War in Total War-like combat, in its still early access stage.
