Nothing's wrong with being a collector and selling stuff too. It's definitely bad economy. I agree with collecting the cars you want but if there's a hot car out there that get money for sell it . Of course you don't want to rip anybody off just a decent price

Don't let the "haters" get you down brother. A scalper doesn't care about the hobby. They just want the money. As an investor, you allow the hobby to pay for itself. Buy and sell so that you don't hurt yourself financially by collecting. There's nothing wrong with being financially responsible about the hobby. It's what keeps you in it long-term.

I Collected heavy for a couple year's back in 2014-2015, and kept my favorites from that time.Upon getting back into the hobby only a couple years ago now I've noticed the value in my collection.Im still enjoying this hobby for the thrill of the hunt and still going after my favorite castings,but I'm surely not turning a blind eye to the value I've put into my collection.👍With so many diecast channel's here on RU-vid its enjoyable to find the few who carve their own lane and have unique spin on things,that's why I enjoy whatcha doing buddy👊

Unless you always score STHs, Super Chases, Ultrareds, White Lightnings, Greenies, etc. you really won't make much money. Because where are you going to sell it? Probably eBay or Whatnot and their fees range from 11% to 15%. Then you factor in the taxes that you'll have to pay because the 1099-K form will be sent to you and already reported to the all-powerful IRS (I'm serious when I say this, they do have a lot of power). Then factor in the wear and tear on your car along with the gas that you have to use and you'll end up with little. Say you get a Civic Type R STH and sell it for $100. Let's say you pay 15% on fees. That's $85. Then you have to pay your FED-SALT which we'll say is about 30% depending on your income level and that brings down the total to $50 (you pay taxes on the selling price, not what you get after fees). Well, how long did it take for you to get that STH? Days? Weeks? Let's say you spent 10 hours going from store to store to get it. That leaves you with a pay of $10/hr before taxes...and many jurisdictions have minimum wages much higher than that. If you plan on selling on eBay, which is where most people get their misses, you're competing against a lot of other people who have the same idea. The likelihood that you actually sell yours for the price you want is actually quite slim...and you might have to hold onto the HWs for maybe even a couple of months to a year. By then inflation will further erode into your profit or the hype might die down a bit and you'll be forced to sell for lower. With that being said, I'm just a collector. Not a hard core one. I mostly purchase mainlines and maybe scrounge up a bit for Matchbox Moving Parts but that's about it. Logically there is no sense in investing in HWs because with inflation and the eventual fees and taxes you'll have to pay on the sale of your HWs you'll probably lose money, even if they are rare and appreciate. Mattel makes too many HWs, even the STHs and RLCs, for them to realistically make you any reasonable profit. You are better off investing that $100 that you spend on HWs buy buying treasury bonds or index funds. At least with the bonds you can avoid a lot of taxes.

My goal is to make my collection cost as close to zero as possible. So I invest in models that I can sell and use that money to buy the ones I want in my collection. So I guess I’m both.

Like me, you are a true collector. Although I haven't sold any castings yet, I will when I retire. Until then, I buy one to open and 1-3 more for the "store". I do that with my Lego collection too.

Awesome haul congrats.👍 I got real super lucky a couple of weeks ago at one of my local grocery stores I also found that 1989 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC AMG super treasure hunt and to me it is the best super treasure hunt for this year so far also.👍And I'm a hot wheels collector and I collect the hot wheels that I like and I love that I can find out there in the wild the ones I don't find I don't collect those because I don't buy anything online.

Man that 1:18 S15 brings me back 20 years! I remember picking up the S13 240SX in Signal livery from Jada Option D and I still have it to this day, haven't seen it for sale in well over a decade. It's never leaving my collection. Great additions to your collection 👍

I must admit at first I kinda thought u was a scalper but as i watched i learned u was a passionate about collecting and actually watch every video u make that I have a chance to watch have learned from u how to grow my collection and really not have a ton of $$ n anything I buy buy selling some that I lost interest n to grow my collection value when I’m dead and gone I want my family to benefit from it instead of a bunch of un valuable stuff to have to deal with now days I only collect supers chases th’s those r the only thing I hold on to now days with a few exceptions such as certain Jdm cars some super cars but very few mainlines i actually keep great video bro keep em coming 👍🤘🤘👊

I wasn't a collector until 7 days ago when I had bid the minimum of $100 on a huge lot of hot wheels with 260+ vehicles. Some Redline and NASCAR. I wish you were opening my auction. The seller sent me a message telling me I stole it. My heart was racing fast as the time ticked down to zero. I can't understand why no one else bid on it.

I'm not sure why so many people hate people who resale hot wheels? I sell at my local flea market to people that can't get out too hunt. I sell a ton of cars at reasonable prices.

I just collect, the first 5 years I collected I only bought hot wheels and match box ,and hot wheels sets. Now i buy premium sets and fast n furious 1/24 scale and 1/32 scale. Its nice when i find people to trade with. I have never sold but could double or triple everything Ive bought. But not in it for money but could help with retirement money. Just collect what you like overall. Some people have made this a living and they take all the good stuff and are greedy.

I just got into the hobby I'm personally a collector I'll just get what I like which is muscle cars I collect jdm too but I can't find certain things so I find better options from companies like kaido house, inno,etc. I refuse to pay scalper prices for something I can find later down the line like Godzilla skyline-older stuff I can understand.

i am collector and investor, put 6000$ in my collection, the problem is that i cant stop buying, and there is no space at home.

Every hobby has a buy/sell/trade market. I get called out by pure collectors for selling stuff but let’s be honest you can’t really collect every single thing and blow you’re entire income on it and also what’s the point of collecting everything when most items stay in boxes stored away. I’ve only met 2 people who displayed everything they collected and the rest put em in boxes and into storage, which isn’t fun at all

A collector collects what he likes regardless of price, that's a true collector, they not worried about what piece they need because of value, a collection is a set on what you like And not what anyone else has, if you just grab all the high dollar cars or think they gonna be worth more later then that's not a collector they worried about the value
