Can you live without creating anything for an entire month? If you answered "yes," congratulations-you might not be destined to be an artist. But that's not a bad thing! It means there's something else out there for you, something where you can fully immerse yourself and find fulfillment. 🌟
However, if the idea of not creating makes you uneasy, then you're likely an artist at heart. Being an artist isn't easy. It often involves a lot of sacrifices, working in isolation, and facing rejection. It's a journey filled with challenges, but also immense personal rewards if you stay true to your unique style and vision. 🎨

A life changing trauma happened for me years ago while i was building a career as an artist. As a result, my world felt like it broke apart and i became almost completely blocked from being able to create art. I was miserable but the artist's block strong. However, through that time, there were little avenues in which creativity found ways to express. After getting away from the bad situation, i began healing and ONE DAY inspiration happened and i was able to begin painting again! First, only miniatures, but then a full-sized painting, and how happy it made me. The artist's block was finally overcome. Probably speaking as many i say "i was born an artist" and only in that is there felt a fulfillment of purpose.🌈🎨

I would go a days… months,years and not make anything but I wasn’t truly happy! My sacral chakra was completely blocked. Now I feel so happy when I am creative. I feel like I am back to my childhood dream❤

Love your content Dries but I totally disagree with you on this one. I go through times when I create a lot and times when I don't. That's part of the natural cycle for some people or sometimes we may just have a blockage holding us back from creating.

In my opinion it was a reality check. I may take a few days off but it’s important to obsess over the next painting or artwork. To me that’s the natural state of the artist, obsession.

It's kind of really difficult to draw or paint weekly let alone monthly when you work full time or even part time at a soul-sucking job that pays the bills. Also on top of that one has everything else to look after including mental health, exercise, family, house life, etc. Now that I dont have a soul sucking job holding me back, it's my top priority to make art every week, but naturally my creativity waxes and wanes depending on what I know I'm going to create next, what business details actually have to be looked after, and what my short, mid and long term goals are

Yo Dries, I'm a fairly new subscriber, I've been watching ur videos for a few weeks now and appreciate your perspective. I spent much of my life as a musician but have been drawn to canvas painting for 2 yrs now, I'm zoning in on my own personal style but it's taken lots of time with different mediums to get there. Thx for the realist pep talk, "If you don't enjoy the journey, don't take the ride."

What qualifies for creating? A doodle? A masterpiece? A business? Sorry but this is nonsense. There are cycles people go through. I’ve made a career as an artist and I’ve gone through long stretches of creating and not creating.

@@seanodanielsart You overlooked the fact that artists create primarily in their heads. They ask questions, formulate solutions, and create with their minds, this process, between projects, may take weeks or months.Here is much more processes in life to create and be the artist. Yes, this is still a process for both the artist and everyone else in life. Therefore, even if you go months without using a pencil or paintbrush but spend a lot of time creating in your head, or writing notes you are still an artist and creator.
