In reality, Harold Bennett, AKA Young Mr. Grace, was born in Hastings, Sussex. After leaving school at the age of twelve, in his early life he toured America as a clown with a circus and later taught English at the Working Men's College in London. During World War I he served as a courier, initially on horseback, then on motorcycle. After the war, he took up acting and eventually worked as a stage producer in the Tower Theatre, in London. He subsequently pursued a career as a draughtsman for an electric company, only taking up his acting career again following retirement.

19:43 About this time , mid to late 1970s or maybe it was early 1980s, Dannon yogurt did a commercial they claimed was in some "mountain Russian village " where people allegedly "live to be a 130 years old" . they gave the Dannon yogurts to these purported to be 130 year olds and older and they said they all loved Dannon yogurt . if memory serves me one or two or three said they were 160 or so years old . lol to even the supposed 130 year olds . the reader of this post will have to research this one for him or her self . i'm too knackered to be of complete service at this time .

at least one individual portion sized container of Dannon yogurt at that time was about 12 ounces for about 50 cents, tall as a can of beer and wider at the top . today you get a 4 or 5 ounce container for a dollar if you're lucky .

If you like to see John Inman performing on the stage, here he is at the old time English Music Hall (first and third spots on the bill): @_eBU Incidentally, people who like the feel good factor of these English programmes will also generally appreciate the BBC "Good Old Days" old time music hall series in which he appears occasionally here. Many famous actors and performers can be seen in these programmes and it's always good, clean, happy stuff (The equivalent of Vaudeville in the USA). Best evening entertainment there is in my view, compared to today's tv rubbish! Enjoy!

Mr. Grace was not kind, let's be honest. He's a businessman through and through, and only cares about the bottom line. While he's off with pretty young ladies on yachts and vacations and to the pictures, his staff are paid next to nothing and scrambling to make money, often coming in early or staying late and meeting after hours. It's part of normal business: The owners always make the big bucks and live a highlife while the staff get squat on. Just look at Selfridges and any of the other companies. It's why they're at the top, and it's still run that wa

John Inman, who played the deliciously effete Mr Humphries, had actually worked in gentlemen’s outfitting. Having enjoyed dressmaking as a child, he became a window dresser in Blackpool and subsequently got a job at Austin Reed’s flagship store on Regent Street in London. At the height of his fame, Inman released a single called Are You Being Served, Sir? which reached number 39 in the UK singles charts. He DIED in 2007, leaving £2.8 million to his civil partner Ron Lynch. - What happened to the original cast of Are You Being Served. www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2016/08/08/bbc-reveal-new-are-you-being-served-cast-photo-but-what-happened

good on you for making this show available to watch, its hard to find the full series in DVD, its one of the shows of the era where the dirty mind of the audience had to fill in the blanks, where as these days, comedy is basically, the F word and all of the others of same nature. writers these days can't write comedy without using direct references to the obvious.

@@murukscute Sexual assault for having a lot of sex with young women? Never seen someone so jealous of a fictional character. At the same time he did work hard, he inherited the business but he kept it alive for over 50 years. His role may have been more of delegating one, but without his actions the company would have went under less than a year after he got it, no doubt. As for Peacock? Yeah he's just a prick with him. But in one episode (the fog one) he did actually give him a lift to work. Although he forced Peacock to ride on top of the car rather than inside, because he didn't want any fog in the car. As for Humphries- meh. So?
