Facts. I see the fastest progress since I stopped repeating stuff just for the sake of repeating it. Only effortless and strain free takes. If I feel slightly uncomfortable, I stop and look for the other way

Thanks. Your stuff have helped me immensely. Particularly your tenor talk with Jack Lavigni. First time after my phd in voice science do I get to realise how support and adduction are so intertwined that it is meaningless to talk about the one without the other. I suspect very few people understand the extreme implications for practical functional vocal technique and the thought process behind it. Often people put too much focus on avoiding pressed voice which ends up to insufficient adduction or conflicting commands of adduct and abduct at the same time ! Cheers

Thanks for "bringing on the point" (we say so in german.. dont know wether its a english expression as well..😅 ) and validating that experience, that I made the last months as well. But hearing from a Master like you, that experimenting with the voice and allowing the "ugly sounds" and cracks and that "trial and error "will lead to the "right way" supports me very much! Great video! I'm a rock singer and one of the biggest revelations for me was discovering the connection between loudness and register. Many vocal coaches online are talking about whether SLS or Bel Canto is the better technique and make you decide between the two when in fact you should know and use both approaches according to the current state of your voice.

This video is brilliant! You're brilliant. I feel exactly the same as you described. I was unfortunately doing "the same mistakes" for many years and stayed with the same teachers for a long period of time putting all my faith in them. Until I realized, I can't count on anyone but me for doing the research and the work. And it's good to find high quality guidance, but the control and the decisions are in my hand, taking full responsibility about my voice. Trying many different things, different teachers and using inner intuition combined with commun sense to understand what's contributing and what's not. I often invent my own exercises according to what I feel is blocking me, and have some backed up concepts about healthy singing that are also guiding my intuitive exercises - as you say, not being afraid to experiment in order to find release in the voice. I have some road to go till I develop a real career, hopefully I'll find my way through the maze and narrow the "bouncing" as you described so creatively. From the time I began thinking this way about vocal technique, it has become more consistent and more fun.

Wise words! You'll be pleased to know I watch a bunch of tenors talking about technique, and I'm always fascinated by what they have in common vs what they think differently. But I love watching your stuff, Jose. Sos un genio 😊

So glad you shared out the zigzag path idea... ! I felt alone a few times trying to go through it and talk about. Many times a soprano would come and say "It shouldn'it that complicated"... I guess in my experience the zig zag is the hardest for male / strong / high voices. Any opinion ? 🎉

Experimentation is what I've been doing all my life, but it doesn't tell you what is safe and what damaging. As someone who can't justify the cost of a course with a professional voice teacher, (it's all just for my own ego boost, not for others so much, and definitely not for any career) RU-vid is a vital information source. But I figure abandoning something if it didn't work immediately is a bit extreme; one needs to give things a chance to develop. Just don't be a fool about it, know when it's time to abandon something. PS thanks for the vids.

It is funny because that's the way i did heard many singers and different youtube channel about singing and i just tried to imitate different ways as I imitate people easily in general and i think if i didn't have this capibility of doing the clown by imitating people maybe i would have never try so i think also that there is many way to discover and to learn how to sing in my little humble opinion. But if you think like this also i am maybe not in the wrong way😀 thanks a lot for all what you're doing

The trial and error method is the method from Franco Corelli and by the way an algo for AI to improve with action/feedback and minimisation of errors by sliding the parameters.

That's very true. Free sound and the voice comes along way. That's true when you actually have a voice. I wish Yusif Eyvazov would try to make it differently though. A very ugly sound is all we makes and it's just awful to listen to.

0:32 We make repeatedly the same mistakes because voice teaching is the worst thing ever, NEVER in a pro musican course we are taught how to teach (probably because it doesn't matter to do a real work on pedagogy, all it matters is YOUR skills which a lot fail to pass on to their students) I had two voice teachers after I spent 6 years and a half writing my electric guitar method and my electric bass method (2000+ pages each), I first tried rock lessons then thought a classicaly trained bel canto teacher would teach better.... NOT! Their lessons were non sense trying to force you to do things you physically cannot do in your 1st year of practice, using that gibberish language that makes you feel you are part of a new age sect... I do understand that voice teaching is harder because you can't really show the muscles, the vocal chords and everything that has to move or be positionned in a certain manner but come on... There are many things a teacher can do to make the student feel his/her muscles so he/she can progressively manage to master them... Also why isn't it a thing for a voice teacher to sing repeatedly a BAD and a good example so the student can be used to hear the difference and then make the student feel it on his voice by making him singing the bad and the good example ? How many singers & voice teachers have you heard saying "I spent months/years trying to understand what my teacher really wanted when he/she was saying me that"? There is definetly a problem with voice teaching, I am forced to be self-taught and watch videos because IRL teachers cannot plan what has to be mastered in year 1,2,3... of learning and create the right exercises to draw a smooth path for their students.
