Since I have kidney disease and a eleven year old donor kidney, I do believe the VPI Super Prime Scout I purchased last week from Upscale Audio will be my last.

I am 15 and got into vinyl almost a year ago. I purchased an AT-LP60 and AudioEngine A2+'s, which so far has served me great for my needs. I eventually got a small tube amp and Sennheiser HD 58X's, and i love it all. As i get older and acquire more funds to spend, I will definitely continue my audio exploration, but for now I am trying to get as well versed and experienced as i can so i can become a better buyer for the future.

I bought my last turntable in 1998, a Linn Axis I bought from my neighbor used. Upgraded the cartridge recently to a Nagaoka MP-110. I have been extremely happy with it over the years as I moved around the world. Good luck Saturday! See you at Audiofest!

I bought my last turntable years ago. In the 80's I purchased a set of Technics SL-1200's and in the early 2000's I purchased a pair of SL-1210's. They are all still working fine and probably will forever.

Thanks' for your great series Steve! For me my last turntable was unplanned as such. I bought my existing one back in 1983/4. It's a Micro Seiki RX1500 with an external base for the motor block. A cast iron tank like construction. I've had a few arms on it underways - among others a uni pivot Formula IV and now a Rega RB300. Last upgrade was a Tenuto Gun Metal Platter Mat from Puresound in the UK. Not planning to change!

I got a TD166 MKII about three years from Vinyl Nirvana to replace a TD160 I stupidly sold in the 80's and it is super nice. Custom plinth is beautiful. I ordered a Jelco arm and adapter plate from them and added it myself. Super helpful company and Dave walked me through the arm upgrade and some springs I upgraded. I have other tables, but this one is front and center of my system.

I still have two Technics SL-1210mk2 turntables that I bought 22 years ago when I was into DJing. Both have been serviced by myself and are now set up for listening. One has an Ortofon Concorde cartridge with a Stylus-10 on it, the other is running an Audio Technica AT-VM95E. I still love them and they sound great, so well made too. I recently got an AT-LP5 for my living room setup - it's ok I guess but really doesn't even come close to the Technics - I will keep those forever!

Hi Steve, I loved my old Denon DP55k with a Grace 707 arm. I recently purchase from the UK an old 1973 Goldring Lenco GL 75 as a retirement project and possibly last turntable. I have replaced the bearing, and pad - fitted a bearing brace to give more rigidity, I’ve replace the original arm with a Syrinx PU-3 arm an fitted my Nakamichi MC 1000 reference cartridges that I had re-tipped by the Garrott Brothers with a Shibata styli. I’ve also rewired it with a shielded power cable. This rig sounds amazing and I couldn’t be happier. There is also lots of info and support out there on Lenco Heaven. I have the bug all over again at 61. Thanks for your entertaining and informative RU-vid videos, just love them.

I did buy my last turntable, and (yes, purchaser bias) I also highly recommend ClearAudio. The Concept is a VERY good bang-for-the-buck, but I went a bit upmarket, and went with the Performance DC (wood). It's easy to swap out the arm and cart, so it's a lovely base from which to build.

My last (hopefully) turntable. Clearaudio Concept. It came with Concept arm and mm cartridge. The things that sold me on it were: 1. Very low noise floor (testers referred to it as a black background). I think this is due to a combination of good heavy and inert platter construction, belt drive and magnetic bearing tone arm. 2. Good speed control with feedback controlled DC motor and three speed settings (I like to play both LP’s and 45’s so easy to switch speeds). 3. Looks. It has a good no-nonsense look to it. Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like automatic gueuing auto shutoff or any of that nonsense. The only downsides I can think of are 1. Doesn’t come with dust cover (expensive extra if you want it). 2. Can be sensitive to foot falls. 3. A little more expensive than The basic Rega or Project offerings but, I think, worth the extra. I might upgrade to mc cartridge down the road but for now happy with the Clearaudio mm it came with.

I've bought 3 vintage turntables from Goodwill and refurbished all 3. I still have 2 of them: Pioneer PL-7 and a Technics LS-Q2. My main turntable is a Rega Planar 2 that I digitize my LP collection with. I've actually been contacted by someone who is going to ship me his vintage turntable to do a few mods on as an upgrade. Steve -- You actually had a picture of my "last" turntable, which I unfortunately lost in a house fire, along with my records and other stuff, back in 1995. My turntable was a Thorens TD125, which I modified for 78 rpm, with an SME 3009 tone arm. I loved that record player! Today, I'm retired -- at 76, I damn well should be -- and am just getting back into stereo. Currently running an Audio-Technica AT LP1240USB, with an Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge. My old Thorens/SME sported Shure V15-II and V15-III, over the 20 years I owned it. My current speakers are Klipsch RP600Ms, as you recommended. Love my setup and love your channel!

I am rebuilding my HiFi system after about a 35 year lapse in having a system. I chose the Fluance RT84 turntable with the Ortofon Red cartridge. I have also purchased the Schiit phono preamp after trying a couple of other ones (including the Fluance preamp). My speakers are Martin Logan Motion 2's with the Martin Logan Dynamo 700 subwoofer which I purchased used at a benefit sale for $300 for the whole system. I am powering the Motion 2's with a NAD 3140 integrated amp that I bought from Ebay for $175. The amp needs some TLC after 30 years or so of service and some new caps, but I really like how it performs as it is now. I also bought the Denon DCD-570 Single Disc CD Compact Disc Player from Ebay as well for $49. I like it as well.

Hi Steve, I saw the video when it came out, I had just purchased my used Goldring Lenco GL75 idler drive on EBay from the UK as my last turntable. It arrived safely and well packed to my home in Maroubra/Sydney Australia via FedEx. The intention was to modify it to improve the performance to a greater level which I have achieved. I have mounted on my Lenco, dual platters. I’m using my favourite Nakamichi MC 1000 Reference cartridge that was previously mounted on a Grace 707 arm on a Denon DP55K direct drive turntable. The difference of the Nakamichi on the Lenco and Syrix PU-3 combination is night and day. I cannot believe how good this turntable is. I haven’t heard a turntable that I could afford that comes close to what I have. Keep up the good work and keep safe.

I loved my vinyl for years and ended up owning a great turntable the Townsend Elite Rock with Excalibur tonearm and Koetsu Red cartridge. I rarely got to use it for about 20 years but was delighted to find everything still working perfectly on my retirement from full time employment. It still sounds better than anything else, though I've really gotten into the convenience of streaming recently, buying an all in one streamer/amp/tuner, the Gold Note DS1000. On this digital sounds so much better than it did 20/30 years ago. Decent hi-fi equipment is an investment that pays dividends for many years.

Yes Steve I can agree with you to a point about buying vintage turntables on CL and ebay. But for me that's the fun of it.....getting a TOLT model from years past that may be tired and warn....then resurrecting it to almost new condition ! If your handy with little technical knowledge then its a great way to get a good time great sounding vinyl set up without too much invested ! For me little did I know at the time I had purchased my lifetime turntable back in 1985. It's a Denon DP-62L and eventhough it's gone thru many cartridge changes and used in many different systems it's still my main work horse today! After all these years I finally found the perfect match for it as far as system synergy goes....using it with a Denon DL-103R cart. plugged into a vintage 80s Denon PMA-757 amp driving Wharfdale Denton speakers! They all seem to be made for each other. Steve you should pick one of these amps up, their cheap and will make you wonder while people pay multi thousands of dollars for amps!

I bought an AR-XA turntable around 1980. I don't remember how long I kept it. It had a very heavy platter and you had to change speeds by manually moving the rubber belt drive. You had to put the needle on & take it off manually as well. I believe it was less than $100 & got quite good ratings cuz it was bulletproof & very stable.

Thanks, Steve. You helped me make my decision to buy a Rega Planar 3. My one and only local audio store was sold out but had two on order he was expecting in about a week. The Planar 2 he had in the store was so amazingly good, the decision to go with the Planar 3 for a few hundred dollars more was a no-brainer. I put down my $400 deposit and am good to go. The turntable comes with the Elys cartridge. I have read mixed things about Rega cartridges but they are made to be a good match for Rega turntables and arms. I have a Rega Elex-R integrated amp and also understand that their cartridges are made to be a good match sonically and electrically for the phone pre-amp inside their amplifiers. (I do not use an outboard phone stage.) So, this should be an unbeatable combination. Will it be my last turntable? Only time will tell.

I am not sure if this is the last turntable I will buy. Maybe. But after starting again in vinyl after over 30 years now (I had several DUAL-TTs back then and I was so damn sure about their greatness ;) i guess the techniks today is the most solid choice.

I had a Thorens 160 with a Rega RB300 Arm for over 30 years. Always dreamed of owning a Linn LP12, they still sell for good money. A few months back I found a nice old Oracle Alexandria that needed some love. Had the suspension reworked and installed a new old stock SME Series 3 arm on it. This old girl sings and is certainly my last turntable. 😎

I bought a Dual 1229 in 1972 and used it a lot for the next 10-15 years and then, when vinyl kind of went out of fashion, and I was busy with career and raising children, it sat for about 30 years. I recently moved and before I packed everything, I had a shop go through it to get it operating okay. Long story to short, when I set up at my new house and starting to get into my old vinyl collection, the operations is not all that it should be in automatic mode. However, the sound from the unit when used in manual mode is still delicious!

Very happy camper with my lp12 for 20+ years now. In the unlikely event of having that much money to throw around, I would likely go for an origin live turntable

This is a particularly timely video for me. I just ordered a new Linn LP 12 turntable with several upgrades (Lingo PS, trampoline and subchassis). I notice my turntable did not make your list, but I feel really good about it. I auditioned it and had a great emotional response to the table. Plus I like a turntable that looks like a turntable. looking forward to getting my new turntable in the next week or two.

Hi Steve, I am a 53 years old and have been an Electronics audio tech for most of my life. I have a Dual 604 electronic direct drive Turntable which originally came with a Pickering cartridge on it that I have owned since I was 12 years old. I of course keep it in tip top shape and it has never let me down. I have never felt that I needed to upgrade but recently installed new Ortofon 2M blue on it which was definitely a step up from the Pickering. I have always liked Thorens but just haven't felt the need to buy one as my old Dual plays cleanly and seems to track well at 1.8 grams with no noise. Cheers and thanks for listening.

I've been with vinyl for at least 35 years. I renovate a lot over the years. I already have my last turntables Thorens TD150, TD 125mk1, Lenco L75 modded and Revox B 790 mostly because it's cool. I am the one who asks for help when something goes wrong with turntables. And of course you can buy used turntables but then you have to be able to repair them if you can not, you have to buy new it is much easier then.

Bought an Audiomeca Romance about 15 years ago. Replaced the belt once. Beautiful artistic piece that has received almost no reviews and was way ahead of its time. Dynavector xx-1. Won’t ever need anything else. I hope.

Unexpectedly got it third hand last year, it's André Thériault's Phono4, a single made that he entirely designed and built over 20 years ago and the turntable that i learned what real hi-end audio meant back then. A dream come true. He's also the guy who designed and builds Black Beauty and Helena carbon fiber unipivot tonearms that come with Kronos Pro and Kronos Sparta turntables.

I had a VPI HW-19 MKIV for over 25 years. I upgraded it over the years with a heavier platter and silicone nitride ball bearing and eventually went with a 10 inch Graham Phantom tonearm. I kept the tonearm and sold the rest to help offset the cost of my final turntable ... a Technics SP-10R on an Artisan Fidelity plinth. The armwand was sold to get a 12" wand. The sound is stunning. I'm currently using a SoundSmith Sussurro cartridge.

I bought a used Clearaudio performance DC with a verify tone arm from a local dealer. It had an ortofon cadenza red that I used for about a year before upgrading to the cadenza black when they had a sale and took the red as a trade in. The sound is blowing my mind every time I listen. Is it my last TT? I can't say for sure but I certainly have no urge to change it anytime soon. This is a very highly recommended combo for sure. Your advice to buy from a reputable dealer is key. My experience doing just that couldn't have been better.

I'm specialized in turntables myself. By using them many years now. And I bought 2 of my 4 turntables used on ebay. One was a Rega Planar 2 without tonearm, so very cheap. The other is probably my last turntable: A Planar 8 with the Planar 10's tonearm mounted. I think the risk of getting a damaged product is not bigger with turntables than anything else on ebay.

I went a little nuts recently. Finally found a replacement for my slightly broken (tonearm rest) Victor QL-Y77F so now I have two. I do want to get my original 77F (purchased from a friend in 1988ish) restored. In the meantime, I bought a QL-A95 that could probably use a clean, rebuild and veneer change but it works. The day after I bought the A95, I found a PL-505 restored by CaptMark and couldn't pass it up. I think I'm done buying turntables.

I hope I'm on my final turntable. I started with a Pioneer PL-530 but sold that to a collector and bought a Rega RP3 that I enjoyed for a while before passing on to my son when I purchased a used Roksan Radius 5 which I have been really enjoying and feel like I can stop with it. I did buy the Roksan used on Ebay and the arm needed rebuilt. However Roksan still supports it and provided the broken part at a reasonable price.

Finally bought a new turntable to replace my mint vintage Pioneer Pl-518 (I'll be keeping this one though). My new one is the Fluance RT-85 with the Nagaoka Mp-110 cartridge. I know most "Audiophiles" would turn up their nose to this consumer grade combo, but I'm pleased as punch and it sounds awesome to my nearly 70 year old ears!

I have two Pioneers, PLL1000 PLL1000A. Both bought second hand for $200 Australian and one with a stanton 881s cartridge. Both had the same issue which was the arm motor belt and I repaired both for under $10.00. Both running rock solid. These are my last and my favourites. Linear Trackers, no other way!.
