Are You Ready To Dance | Little Eva - Locomotion Reaction 

Here are some black female singers that were famous in the 1960s: Etta James, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Mary Wells. I'm too young for actually learning to dance "The Locomotion" in a dance school. I was born in 1972. 😀 Our popular dance was in the late 80s the "Lambada" and due to the movie "Dirty dancing" the "Mambo". But since I loved the 50s and 60s music I knew that song from the weekly oldie show in our local radio station.

I heard this back then always dug it, very popular. This is the only song I remember of her. She was the babysitter of Carole King and her husband who were both great songwriters. And of course Carole a great singer. It's said they gave Eva the song and the rest is history.

Keep playing that great music Stan. I remember listening to this as a teen back in the day. We used to do the Loco Motion on the dance floor. Thx Stan

Love this song from the 60s. I am a baby boomer, and we danced to this song at our sock hops on Fridays. ❤❤❤❤

Oh it was definitely popular back in the day, and yes over the years several artists have covered it.

This was Little Eva's first song and only #1 hit. She had a few more semi-hits in the 60's that reached the top 40, but never another one as massive as this one. Unfortunately, she died of cervical cancer in the early 2000's.

For me, this was the first song of the 60s, but it was really my own first taste of rock and roll. And what a cutie she was! I hear the song was written by Carole King, which might explain a lot. She had the royal touch.

I walk around at work singing this and people say it's too early for Kylie and I look weird at them and say Kylie who that's Little Eva!

Grand Funk did their version of this song and it was a hit.

Little Eva followed up the Locomotion with another top 20 song called "Keep Your Hands Off My Baby" which in many ways was a better song than the Locomotion. It had a more intricate musical structure than the Locomotion. The Beatles covered Keep Your Hands Off My Baby. LIttle Eva's third top 20 hit was Let's Turkey Trot which was basically another dance song. Little Eva continued to release songs for many years afterwards but without big commercial success.
