When I eat wfpb I feel healthier. My skin feels incredibly soft. I'm 62 and my face looks younger, my neighbor even said something about it. I realize that if my skin is healthier my insides must be healthier too. I don't ache, i don't have acid reflux, i have more stamina. I enjoy my food. I first learned about mcdougall in 2016. And it has taken me til now to really make it a way of life. Even my husbands health has improved and he still eat the SAD diet too, but he gets so much more healthy foid because he eats what i eat more than half the time. We've both lost weight . I still have about 22 pounds i want to lose but i lose about 4 pounds a month on average without feeling deprived. I feel like I have a large influence on my health by what I eat. Food really tastes goid even though I don't salt foid while cooking anymore and don't add hardly any sugar anymore, maybe 2 teaspoons a day would be my max. Anyhow that's my speel 😅. Hope you all reach your healthy eating goals ❤

I love the discussion on knowing versus doing!!! I've been researching vegan and WFPB eating for a number of years, and totally understand all the concepts. I also follow Well Your World & LOVE Dillon's recipes and tips (for me, most of his recipes are the easiest & most affordable). My major problem is actually DOING it! I'm a senior & live alone (my son & his family live over an hour away AND my best friends eat the SAD diet)....and most of the time just can't get the motivation to actually cook the ingredients & keep them on hand to make meals. Definitely NOT "laziness" because I WANT to do a WFPB lifestyle, but it's the actual DOING that I struggle with. I've got an instapot and an air fryer and a blender (not a Vitamix), but I get overwhelmed and end up settling for a peanut butter sandwich and instant oatmeal packets and baked frozen french fries.
@andreafong9952
@andreafong9952 7 месяцев назад
I share your pain. I do call it laziness because I know I personally tend to be that way. It seems to help me to move in slowly to the new food and give my self some leeway such as putting syrup on my vegan French toast. I am also trying to be strict about one thing which is not eating out but eating before I leave so I am full. It really helps.

Could there be something that's sapping some of your energy, too? Maybe if you just cook an IP full of baby potatoes one day and rice the next? Then all you have to do is steam some veggies for dinner?
@arlee1954
@arlee1954 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for responding, Andrea. Maybe it is some laziness as well as the lack of motivation. Eating WFPB is not "new" to me, though. My son & I went vegan when my son was diagnosed with pre-diabetes; we cut out all meat, dairy, eggs, eggs, etc; read labels...that was when he was 14/15 (he's now nearly 33). @@andreafong9952

Not really sure, Kathy. It's not like I'm eating the SAD diet or anything. And I find my sleep schedule is all out of whack as well (kind of backwards), I have all the good canned foods to make some of Dillon's recipes; and I have some frozen veggies & bags of rice, etc.....I'll try your suggestions. Thanks for the input. @@KathyHesterVeganRecipes

A simple solution might be to fix your environment? Stop buying the instant oatmeal, frozen French fries etc. if you only have whole, low fat plant foods in the house, you will be much more inclined to prepare them when you are hungry.

Yes, we in Texas own coats, boots, and gloves. Not sure who or what Stacy was talking about. It gets cold for a short time every year here.
@stacycross8480
@stacycross8480 7 месяцев назад
We obviously have coats, etc. What I clearly meant was that we don’t have coats for 5 degree weather. Do you know that there are heavier coats that are made for that type of weather? Maybe you have one. My point was that MANY people in Texas do not. I didn’t say we don’t own coats, gloves, and boots. 😂😂😂😂 I said “proper winter coat”, by which I meant a good quality coat that holds up to 5 degree temps. Also, do you know that we broke low temperature records in central Texas last week? That was not our usual yearly cold snap.

So if your a petite older women, 5 foot 1, and want to lose 25 pounds, Do you recommend mainly earring potatoes, and veggies and limit fruits? Perhaps 50/50 plate? Thank you
@lindalarue1722
@lindalarue1722 7 месяцев назад
I understand that Stacy is not saying we should limit condiments, dressings and sauces. However, she sort of echoed something I have heard Chef AJ say that makes me uncomfortable, and that is that food palatability is something to be avoided if you are stalled in our weight loss. I think food should always be delicious, and we shouldn't shy away from that. I find eating food that is dull and uninteresting unsustainable.
@Joy80JJ

I agree with you. What are we suppose to eat food that taste like crap. Coming from an Italian family food is a pleasurable satisfying experience. I am not eating bland tasteless food.
@KathyHesterVeganRecipes
@KathyHesterVeganRecipes 7 месяцев назад
Stacy and I had a conversation about something similar, and she wants you to eat food that tastes good and is enjoyable for sure. There is only a small exception for people not meeting their health goal by just eating wfpb no oil. That is per individual and not meant to be a blanket solution. For instance, if someone was eating perfectly, but not losing if that's their healthy goal. That person, not you, might be using 1 cup of balsamic a day which would cause the scale not to move. Does that make sense?
@KathyHesterVeganRecipes
@KathyHesterVeganRecipes 7 месяцев назад
@@Joy80JJ You are supposed to enjoy your food. That particular path of not using condiments or paying attention to them is for people not meeting their health goals only. Also, you get to choose what wfpb Dr. you follow, if any, and what your personal health goals are. No one is trying to make you eat a certain way. I am only sharing my experience with the starch solution.
@stacycross8480
@stacycross8480 7 месяцев назад
Hi Linda and Joy. It might be good for you to go back and re-listen to that part of our conversation. I couldn’t have possibly repeated more times and in a greater variety of ways that we want you to use condiments and sauces to help you enjoy your food. We were addressing the very real issue of passive overconsumption of calories to help people who are not meeting their health goals while faithfully and consistently following this way of eating. If this part of our long conversation isn’t for you or doesn’t apply to your situation, there’s no reason for you to take any of the thoughts I shared and personalize them or change anything you’re doing. 😊

Could you ask Stacy if women need to add more protein in their diet as they age. Like Protein powder. Heard this from older WFPB Blogger, who follows McDougall why of eating. Thank you❤
@stacycross8480
@stacycross8480 6 месяцев назад
Hi, Abby! According to Dr. McDougall, women do not need to add protein powder as they age. We get plenty of protein from the whole plant foods we are consuming with this way of eating. Dr. McDougall produced a three-part protein mastermind you might want to check out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_KvyAylxBkQ.html I hope this helps!
