Something I noticed about that one main town shown off: There is a circle that seems to have all the Types represented, and that makes me think of a possible theory. Does that circle mean that each Type will have a Gym, or Gym equal, and if that is the case, will you be able to do the Gyms in about any order, and how many badges will you need to challenge the Elite 4/Champion?

The new Pokémon region is inspired by Spain?! Oh, boy! As a Spaniard myself, I can tell you I'm excited. I see references to the walled city of Ávila, the windmills from Castilla la Mancha (the famous ones from "Don Quixote"), the architecture from Southern Spain in general and Seville in particular, and of course, the Sagrada Familia from Barcelona. Heck, I wonder if the grass cat starter will turn into some sort of Iberian Lynx in the final evolution! Or the water duck will turn into some sort of peregrine falcon? Good times!

I was also really excited we went back to colors for the titles, Scarlet and Violet are really cool names. And the Grass Cat’s name is Sprigatito, which is probably the single most fun Pokémon name to say, ever.

It’s easy to tell when you’re massively excited about something because you get all squeaky.

Just started playing Arceus this weekend and it kind of broke me on playing the older games. I was playing Omega Ruby and now I have no desire to finish it after the gameplay for Arceus. Having a pokemon remember all its move and switching them out when you want, catching pokemon, and being able to craft your own items is a breath of fresh air. I know That Scarlet & Violet is open world but I seriously hope they continue with what Arceus brings to the table. Also voice acting, come on. I can read but it would be nice to have it included, this isn't a portable hand held any more.

Despite the fact that it's cool to have gen 9 revealed already, I'm more worried than excited for it. Gamefreak needs to slow down with the Pokemon game releases and give it time to focus on quality over quantity or else they'll be going down the same path as Call of Duty or Ubisoft. You don't want to take those as role models for your business.

For the first time in a long time, idk what starter to choose! Between grass cat and fire croc. Is this the year I get both versions instead of just picking one?? Btw, I watched your stream just before this went up and absolutely LOST IT at your reaction 😂 Also: I’m very excited for this new Gen. Because I love Arceus, but wanted a bit more to do in the world. I understand that Arceus is “the beginning” so it’s more barren. But I was like “I wish there was a present day game in this style” AND THEY DELIVERED!!

What got me extremely hyped for this was seeing Magnemite and Seviper since Magnemite is hella reflective and Seviper you could see the individual scales and it’s not even the final product. Also, the environments look extremely good and I can’t freaking wait.

Praying for this to actually be more “open world” than arceus. The having to go back to the village between areas and also not being able to just walk out of the village is so maddening.

All three has their names confirmed. There’s Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon; Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon; and Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon.

I was so faked out by the detective, it really felt like it was going to be a Detective Pikachu reveal! But then as it kept going and you see the detective is in fact at the Gamefreak offices it almost felt like it was an announcement for a behind the scenes documentary around the origins of the series. Boy was I pleasantly surprised

I feel like the Pokemon games are FINALLY going in the direction, myself and and many others, have been waiting for. Pokemon games haven’t interested me for years, but with Arceus, I’m actually excited for the future of the game franchise.

So in the description of the gen 9 game it says the town merge seemlessly to the wild. So it is going to be at least a mostly open world game. It’s also based off Spain which you could have guessed. It seems to be either mirrored or just changed a bit in a way from actual Spain. And the starter names are Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly. Also I noticed that there are sort of poke center mini stops located around. (They kinda look like bus stops) also proving that this game is fully open world. There’s also a confirmed at least 5 towns from the map pictures I have gathered. It runs on the legends arceus engine and not sword and shields like some think. I don’t believe there will be a national dex but I belive it will have almost double the amount arceus had. I’m guessing once this is released this will be the main battle/trade game. I belive pokemarts might be mixed into the poke centers again. I really hope we can catch and battle Pokémon just as we can in arceus.

As an observation, it seems to me that they've used the same models, engine, and tools to make Sword and Shield, Legends, and now this, but adding more graphical polish and animation as they make each game.

It’s insane that this year already looks like one of the best, but the real kicker is that we still don’t know a TON about middle and end of year stuff. We know a couple summer games and a couple late-year stuff, but it seems like there’s still something huge that could come that nobody would expect.

I was definitely NOT expecting this! I’m so excited! Also, I NEVER pick grass type starters (generally not a fan of grass type and the style never appealed to me) but this may be the first time I start with the grass type! Thanks for the video!

It’s so nice to feel like the old days again where every now and then a major studio drops something absolutely nobody was thinking was coming with so much detail! Usually we know everything coming out way in advance, being genuinely surprised is great. Also gen 1 and 2 are the same for me. All over starter Pokémon I just pick fire usually because I don’t care about the others. First 2 gens I genuinely loved. All 3 too.

If we're going back to Sword and Shield with this one, I'm skipping it. We need expansion on the Arceus idea, not stepping backwards again. I really do hope it turns out to be more like Arceus.

I would love to see Pokemon Legends continue as a separate line from the main games, but I also want the main games to take pages out of PLA's playbook as it has been the best thing to happen to Pokemon since Pokemon Yellow let you walk around with Pikachu. If they continue doing Legends, there's a lot out there to play with. If they want to do Johto, I for one would like it to be Pokemon Legends: Celebi, with a Link to the Past/Ocarina of Time/Oracle of Ages style gameplay where you are not only exploring ancient Johto (likely around the time of the construction/destruction of the towers), but also traveling through time to a modern Johto, going back and forth to make changes, solve mysteries, and of course to catch unusual Pokemon. Some of the other regions would be a bit harder to come up with good gimmicks for, like even just starting with Kanto, what would their mascot be? Pokemon Legends: Mew? Mew is great, but how would you center the game's story around Mew? I suppose we could visit a more recent history and go back to the creation of Mewtwo, but that wouldn't be centuries ago, it would be a couple of decades now, not too long before the original games took place. And for gen 3, what? I'd almost say Pokemon Legends: Deoxys, where you're on a different planet? Pokemon in space could be pretty cool, although it would really weird and hard to explain. I guess gen 5 works well enough, going back to the era where Kyurem hadn't broken into the different legendaries, so Pokemon Legends: Kyurem. Gen 6 is easy enough, Pokemon Legends: Hoopa, those rings can do all sorts of things, if I'm not mistaken that included a degree of time travel and certainly space travel, though the only story I could think to revisit would be the war that X and Y referenced repeatedly. Gen 7 would almost have to be Pokemon Legends: Necrozma, but I would rather see this focus on the Ultra Beasts, Ultra Wormholes, and the connections between Pokemon and these distortions (seriously, Ultra Beasts are treated like aliens in the game, but are ultimately just Legendary Pokemon of the same caliber as the bird trio or dog trio, so what's their connection to the Pokemon world, and can we even really count them as Pokemon without knowing that connection?). Gen 8 would be similar to gen 6, because it would seem like the only relevant event to explore in the past is Eternatus and the initial "darkest day" event, so Pokemon Legends: Eternatus? Feel free to drop any alternatives you can think of in the comments, or better storylines, timeframes, etc.

I wonder when we'll get starters that are not the typical fire/grass/water type triangle 😅 It'd be cool to get either a different triangle or simply 3 types that have no connection to one another, just for fun

The colored circle in the town square is surrounded by points of Red/orange, Yellow, and Green/blue (teal). Also notice that the Pokemon Center is located outside of the city gates when it first starts the footage of the game. This suggests that maybe we'll see wild areas similar to Sword/Shield, but with the new style of Arceus in the mix maybe...??? Super excited!! Can't wait to see more!!

The cat was my favorite as well, but still going for my cute fire. And am glad gen 9 is similar to legends but in the traditional pokemon style. And legends might be the in-between games now.

It seems like an improvement on sword and shield compared to being of the same calibre. The reflections on the Magnemite, the scales on the Seviper, the shadows on the Psyducks and Swablu's, the trees, a lot of graphical improvements and it's great to see the games head in this direction

Frame rate looks terrible but so did the first trailer of Legends Arceus. I'm anxious to see the development of this game in a couple of months! I really hope they increase the quality all around the board. I wasn't interested much in PLA because it looked barren but I'm excited about this one

From the pictures on the website for pokemon scarlet and violet it looks like it will be legends arceus gameplay style because they have a picture of what looks too be a battle in the open world

I like how in the trailer, there’s two lights giving off the colors Scarlett and Violet

It’s Spain/Iberian peninsula themed. The map in the trailer looks like it. The windmill give off huge don Quijote vibes, the starter names (Tito is a common diminutive ending in Spanish, fuecoco has “fuego” - fire in it and “coco” short for “cocodrilo”), and finally the pokeball castle in the trailer looks like the “sagrada familia” in Barcelona.

Literally such an amazing year! Scarlet will be my 5th pokemon game for switch and I have zero regrets. I love this franchise.

I was highly convinced we weren't getting gen 9. At the start of the trailer I was like "oh, detective pikachu 2. Not for me, but cool." Then we saw some game footage and I was like "oh, PLA dlc!" Then we got the gen 9 reveal. I'll keep my expectations in check for now. SWSH were letdowns and I'm honestly shocked they're releasing gen 9 THIS YEAR

This is exactly what I wanted arceus to be assuming it is how it looks… graphics look dated still, but as someone who put in 100 hours into arceus… this still is very exciting

Really excited for Scarlet and Violet. And your right Wood, they could split things and do the mainline and a Legends series, it would give people more variety and choice. Just one thing though, the 'franchise' may be the number 1 best selling franchise in the world, but the Pokemon rights are actually split 33% between Game Freak, Nintendo and Creatures inc, and Creatures inc specifically hold the merchandise rights. The franchise makes a lot of money but it gets split 3 ways. Plus, the merch is actually what makes the most money. I love your content, I love the difference in opinion, but it does make me facepalm everytime the best selling franchise thing gets said. That all said, gotta agree about the Grass Cat, its freaking adorable man

I personally need to see more of gen 9 before I get any hype, also a long shot but would be great if the arceus region anime was a little more adult and the next legends game followed and became a little harder and less kid friendly. If the games split into two different series like they seem to be heading now we truly need an "adult" more serious/difficult pokemon series. I'm having a blast with legends after outright skipping sword/shield just wish it was a little more difficult then it would be nearly perfect just with lack luster graphics lol

I just realized since Gen 9 has officially been announced my questions below ⬇️: 1st of all what is the name of the new Pokémon region? 2nd are we going to get new types of Pokémon? 3rd what will the legendary box game Pokémon look like and what will be their types be? 4th what kind of Pokémon will be mainly introduced like animals, machines, aliens from space, fossils, nurse joys new assistant, officer Jenny’s assistant, fairytale/story book creatures, Science experiments gone Rogue or even item/objects or plants? 5th what kind of gyms are they going to set up or is it like Alola’s trials? 6th what are the mythical Pokémon in this region going to look like as well as other legendary‘s and the third regional legendary and it’s typing? 7th Will the box legendary Pokémon of generation nine be able to independently fuse with a third legendary Pokémon of the region since this happens to be an odd number generation? 8th what will the types be for the three starters or will it be like both Johto and Galar with Single types? 9th what will be the name of the professor of this new region and name of the bad guy team? 10th Will Eevee get a new type evolution whether it’s a already existing type(s) that they did not use yet or will it get a brand new Pokémon type(s)? 11th what will be the new battle phenomenon? 12th what kind of New Pokémon moves will we eventually get and what old Pokémon moves will become obsolete? 13th and who will be the champion and Will it be like Galar or Are we actually going to get an elite four or both A set of trials each time you want to try battling the elite 4, then battling the elite 4 then champion? 14th Will there be more regional variance and Will we be getting another Meowth regional variance? Because you did it twice Nintendo so us RU-vidrs and amateur weeb theorists have to basically breakdown the chances of third times the charm of Meowth that is lol I did a pun lol! 15th what will the new Pikachu look-a-like Pokémon be as far as rodents go and new typeing along with electric type? because you can’t have a new generation without a Pikachu look-a-like electric Pokémon! 16th how vast and big will this new region be and which Pokémon will be allowed to come back due to the last generation limiting some Pokémon because that’s a lot of data to program and I’m assuming like last time we will be getting some DLC updates to allow certain Pokémon to come back? 17th will gen 9 complete the awaited world record for at least 1000 Pokémon species this does not include regional variants or ancient forms but does include lost ancient evolutions that evolve into new Pokémon like the events of legends Arceus or regional variants that evolve into new species? 18th Will they make a Pokémon whether it’s one of the box legendary or 3rd important legendary or a mythical Pokémon that represents some kind of spirit of the fountain of youth because of if this region is based off of Spain remember they had Spanish explorers/conquistadors looking for the fountain of youth I could totally see a Pokémon that rejuvenate people and Pokémon or something unique to the extent of those powers probably for a short time maybe?

I have to be honest but I'm not impress with 9 Generation new pokemon starters design, but at least the Grass Cat design looked alright as long as I'm hoping it's evolution form design will be very impressive like Fenniken's evolution form.

Personally i was actually really disappointed in this Pokémon Presents and I don't think having Gen 9 coming this soon is a good idea at all. That and to be honest i wanted to hear more news about other Pokémon games I know the details were revealed beforehand but I still wanted for example to see Mystery Dungeon Explorers remake announced to be in production. Plus gen 9 starters look on par with 8s and I didn't like them either so RIP.

Unpopular opinion: I was hoping they didn't release gen 9 this year, that would mean the game is mostly done right now and I don't think we'll see the improvements from legends if that's the case. Maybe they'll surprise me but I honestly can't say my hopes are high for the main series. Like I think Legends is 5x better than SwSh and this could very easily be a SwSh clone.

I'm so annoyed, did they have to release the game this year? 😂 I haven't beaten Pokemon Arceus Legends yet and that game would've easily given me my Pokemon fix for the next year or so
