Wow! What a gorgeous hive! I was drooling over that beautiful, (messy) dripping honey! You and Charlie make a great team! Excellent job spotting the queen, always impressed that you find her so easily! Yes, by the Grace of God! Thanks!

Not an easy one for sure, but well worth the effort to bring the bees back with me to the abbey. Very happy to have share the experience, thank you so much for taking the time to watch and leave your comment. Also, Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Would've been cool to see an up close view of the drone bees. I mean, they look derpy as all heck but outside of the beekeeping hobby, you don't ever really see them, especially alive. Those cells were three c's worth of thicc. Gorgeous looking too. Looks like you've caught another wonderful addition to your honey farm.
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff 5 месяцев назад
I regret not showing the density of drones in this hive, almost unbelievable. Still, the worker bees outnumbered them at least 5 to one. You are correct, these bees will be a very welcome addition in our yard. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

Y'all may be exhausted and think have some dis-spirited thoughts, but from my clean and cozy spot in the bleachers all I could think throughout that capture was "put a gold star on that hive!" The size/thickness of that comb. The look of that queen. The population. The temperament (that queen walked into the cage!). The amount of honey stores still there at winter's end. That is a hive you want to take splits off of and expand that bloodline.

You need some scaffolding so you can get your equipment closer to you on these ceiling hives! Would save time and trips up and down the ladder. You could have good footing, have your table, coolers, vacuum and hive box closer to you too!!!
@JeffHorchoff
@JeffHorchoff 4 месяца назад
I have some excellent scaffolding that I use frequently, however, when there is limited space as there was on this removal, a ladder is a much better choice to do the removal on. Plus, a lot easier to clean up and set up. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Every time I watch one of your videos like this I have to laugh at beekeepers who say horizontal hives don't work. According to them bees only work in vertical spaces. Great video, sw always. Charlie does great video work. Really impressive hive. To clean you suit take it to a car wash and clip it on the floor mat hooks. Power wash it there. This keeps the mess out of your washing machine. Happy Wife, Happy Life. God Bless you Jeff. Look forward to seeing you again in Louisville.

Charlie thank you for your service my brother. I was a truck driver it used to be 64 Charlie but now it's 88 mike. Love watching y'all work the bees. My grandpa used to have a bee hive I loved that honey. He had a milk cow too and my grandma used to make butter. They went so good together with toast or a biscuit. I miss my grandparents so bad. I practically grew up with them. I didn't get to see all of what my grandpa did to take care of his bees but I wanted to learn I was just too young. That was back in the 70s. Hi, sorry, it was one of those late night comments with fat fingers and tired, old eyes. 😊 I’m a pilot here in the U.K. and I was instantly intrigued when I caught the comment about the flight suit and Vietnam. Please thank him for his service for me. The helicopter pilots in Vietnam did an incredibly dangerous and difficult job. I’ve edited the original comment to what I thought I’d written. 😁 That’ll teach me to comment when I’m half asleep. Myself and my Wife watch and love all of your videos.

What a great cutout Lots of bees. Well now I might have to buy a serrated Machete LOL. How many deeps did you end up putting them in. I am going tomorrow to smoke some out of a tree the hive just moved in about 2 weeks ago. The home owner was lucky enough to see them moving in. Thanks again for another great vid.

Buy a Rain Jacket and Panting. Add a thin , thin Fleace inner lining to the jacket , just wear your pants under the panting , modify sleeves to keep out Bees with velcro at the neck to accept the netted Head covering . Boom , now you can be hosed down after bathing in Honey . Too you can add an opening at the back to accept and hold a hose which is connected to a fan to keep air flowing and you cooler on hotter , humd days . Hoping that can be a thing .
