Mark - I’m TRYING to be more minimal but you keep recommending so many great gadgets! 🤦🏻♀️ love how tiny the video head is - especially that extendable handle! 🙌
Haha… I will have to do a “studio” tour some time, it’s a disaster, I have gear stack to the ceiling. Honestly, the video head probably is the “minimalist” version of gimbal or slider.
just wanted to jump in here, and mention you look like the love-child of Ed Helm and lead singer Britt Daniels in his younger years lol. great vids, thanks m8!
I bet it is. I love simple budget ones. I have some KingJoy ones. Some imperfections but they do the job for me. Looks like a Manfrotto knock off so some won't know 😝 The Decal Logo from a distance looks the same. Don't tell anyone I use cheap crap plz 🙏😊
Hi, Is it normal for there to be a slight wiggle and squelch sound when panning up and down? I've just bought a really cheap £20 fluid head off Amazon so not expecting good quality, but just wanted to know if it's normal. It moves less if if I tighten the horizontal movement, but there is still slight play. My old tripod head does the same, but not sure if it's normal for new ones even if cheap. Sorry for long question. Thanks a lot.
All of my ball heads have been gathering dust since I picked up a Manfrotto fluid head. It does everything a ball head can do...and then some...and do it better. Throw on an L bracket...and you have it all.
I have this head, and I think it’s pretty nice. I mostly shoot still photos, but this head is nice for when I want to shoot a little video. I think you need a base leveler to go with it. For video, it can be a little jerky when you start and stop movement, but it’s not too bad.
That telescoping handle is clutch. I prefer to be as packable and mobile as possible. I only dabble in video currently and the clunky handle was something that kept me from buying a video head before now. Thanks for the tip.
Can the top lens balance shift part be removed? It looks like an arca connection underneath it? I would plan to use this fluid head for a smart phone so I wouldn't need that balance shift functionality and could shave some extra weight/height off of the setup making it more compact for travel.
@@markwiemelsThat's okay I was just curious if that top lens shifter part was arca as well so i could switch that top part out out for a F38 quick connect system plate without adding the F38 system on top of it increasing the height by a few inches.
Levelling the head without the camera mounted on it is a noob error. That’s yet another reason I hate ballheads. Trying to get them level with the camera mounted - which is what you _should_ be doing - is a PITA.
@@sonicmistress I was a working photographer in the early 1980s before moving into television. Was a news cameraman for 25 years. I don’t think there’s anything you can tell me about this.
Had to send my Small Rig head back. It was too tight and binding in the panning motion, making it impossible to get gentle feathered in starts and stops. The tilting motion was fine.
@@markwiemels It was very disappointing since this head ticks so many boxes, plus there are many other people who have reported this issue. I got a reply from Small Rig saying: "According to your description, this may be a problem with a few products, you can request an exchange from Amazon and try it again." If I try again it will be in a few months.
