I’ve collected 1982 pennies my whole life because I was born in 1982. I started collecting more when me and my kids lost their dad because I felt like 1982 pennies were a sign from him. I actually had one fly out of the air & land in front of me and I said, “what if that’s a 1982?? Thank you Justin (that’s his name)!!!” Well I looked at it and it looks like it’s almost never been in circulation so I doubted it was a 1982!!! Sure enough it was, it’s specifically a zinc 1982 small date from Philly. I have lots of big 1982 and small 1982, from Denver mostly because I was born in Denver... so I seemed to always find those. I have no idea what I’m looking for though!!! I have no idea what the double dipped is, reversed dip dyed or any of that means!!! The date is the obvious thing and the little letter beneath it; but all this other stuff, I just have no idea!!! The big date is bubbly, also in my hand I can kind of feel if it’s copper or zinc because copper seems a little thicker or sturdier... but I have gotten as far as to weigh them all, lol!!!

Me again.. When it comes down to it, the only one worth a lot is the copper small D dated one at 3.1/5, u can easily check weight by getting another coin that is older than 1984 as that will weigh 2.5 grams, then get a pencil and place a ruler across it, then balance the older coin on one end and move the ruler over the pen/ pencil until it's balanced and mark the ruler at that point, then u have a guiding mark to go by.. I hope I explained that right, good luck

My dad had been collecting copper pennies from 1982 ever since i can recall. He taught me how to decipher between the copper and zinc coins of that year, by dropping them on a hard surface and listening for a high-pitched chime. It took me years to even hear it, but since then, i always look to distinguishing an ‘82 between its potential compositions. Try it out! Get a coin that’s older than 1982, to compare all the 1982’s to, and “see” if you can hear it. Thanks for sharing this video. Aloha!

I actually do, and need to bring it out more, so thanks for reminding me. But i did also wanna educate people on those experiences that i learned from my dad. He pointed out the higher pitched ping, as compared to lesser-copper composition pennies. Try it out! My dad saved thousands throughout the years, which only equates to about $2.00. Womp womp womp! I actually had that 1982' $18,800 Cent in my hand many years ago. I remember the cut marks and dent in Lincoln's head. For some reason I looked at it and when I saw it shown in a video, I remembered having it. At that time I had it, I had no idea of collecting coins. I just remember having it in my pocket change! Very true story!

Please dont be concerned about the voice complaints. That voice is AWESOME. It sounds like the voice 'Anonymous' uses on those videos. It is soothing and efficient. The information you give is excellent and i am learning alot. If its all true then it is very valuable. I have found many videos that are supposed to be jokes but i dont see whats funny about spending time telling info that is useless, Time robbing and deceitful. C'est la.. the world is so full of that why dont they try to lift people rather than attempt to pull others down into the hole they are coming from? Thank you for the post that’s presented here. Puts allot more examples needed. Now all is said and done, I have 7, 1982 no M-M 1-C coins that have the same weight of 3.127 and then 1 coin of 2.5 exact. I need to have them graded and also the one that is 2.5 is small date. Thank you agian.

The most interesting aspect of the 1982 coin is the number of scam artists online trying to sell a 1982 primarily brass version for thousands of dollars, claiming that it was "an error." Since they didn't convert to the zinc/copper plated coin until the middle of 1982, at least half the coins of that year should be 95 percent brass. These are not rare coins and I feel sorry for anyone who buys one for 18,000.00 (like I've seen some trying to sell them for).

there is a variety in the varieties...I have a 1982 small date zinc cent with a doubled die reverse. I am aware of one other but that is a discovery piece. i found one and sent it to PCGS and hope to get it back this week. the most interesting aspect, as you say, to me is that there is a DDO & a DDR on the large date copper version that seem to be largely ignored. i just found the 1982-D with the extra ear and reverse die chip while watching this! thanks, Numisman.

Beginner coin collector here. When I stumbled upon my late grandpa's coins, I got hooked at Numismatics. It feels like treasure hunting although you have to be both a Jew and a very lucky person to come across highly priced coins but still the sense of adventure hasn't gotten stale. Educate yourself as much as possible. Buy and read books, watch videos like these, join coin clubs and talk to people. Whatever works for you! Learning about the coins and knowing what to look for is half the battle won. And get a good quality loupe, your eyes will thank you for that in time. Thanx for watching

Hey sister I just wanted to ask you if you've ever come across two pennies from the same men which is the Denver Mint preferably the 2020 and notify I've noticed that the penny is larger and the face inside of it is larger than the rest of the pennies that I have put it up against and I was just wondering if that was your natural or is it an error
