Very insightful videos. I was involved in a motor vehicle 20 years ago. It's been a long journey back but the real progress to returning to "normal" began when I started seeing a physiotherapist like you. One you looks for the root cause of the problem. Thanks for putting out these videos. More people need to know about their bodies, how it functions, and how they need to take an active part in their recovery.

Hi, I tried the back mobility with a ball, and felt a referring tingle in the glute. Amazing! Gonna keep going with this.

Amazing! I tried this and really noticed the difference in glute strength before and after the foam roller exercise. A revelation, thank you . Need to work on that core and back strength now I guess!

I’ve got MS & live a sedentary lifestyle. I imagine that’s where my weakness has come from.

It can certainly be a part of the equation. It is still important to make sure these other mechanical things aren’t also going on at the same time. MS can be challenging enough without any unnecessary extra things to deal with!

I have Dermatomyositis since 1991 . I get Pain in lower back and stiffness yes . That is the worst spot , when bending over and reaching down . Like lifting something up in front of you . Twisting especially . Pain can be like electric stabbing

Hi, just found your content. Great stuff. I found through the process of activating my glutes, I can activate them when I'm lying on my back with my legs completely extended. At any degree of knee flexion, I can no longer activate them. Is this normal, and if not, what are some things I can do to re-awaken them? Thanks!

Hi mate, glad to hear the content is resonating with you. Unfortunately, I can’t speak to your symptoms specifically as I can’t assess you for myself. However, from a general perspective if your glutes work in one position but not the other, it may be reflective of a posture or shape that someone gets into consistently that shut down the function of those tissues for example if somebody finds it hard to activate their glutes with the hips and knees bends this may be a similar shape for someone who may spend a large amount of time throughout the day. So improving the function of those muscles relative to those positions may require a person to sit less, and also work on activating and strengthening those muscles in the same position - like a squat type movement.

hello so applicable to me! assume you include gluteal tendinitis as contributing to weak glutes and would you still apply this advice and suggestions?
@YourWellnessNerd

I do find the same back dysfunction to be a potential precursor to gluteal tendon issues as well!

I started strengthening my glutes (wonderful!) but now i get side pain and noone can tell me why this is happening. Its so strange. Any thoughts? The pain is side flank it gets so tight and sometimes it almost feels like i have a belt on.
