Ivan Flores Plus the studio originally planned for a wide/regular theatrical release since Peli was pretty popular back in 2009, but since the PA movies have become more of a gimmick since then and the fact that this movie has been in post production hell for so long; the movie is only getting a short theatrical run and a VOD release the same day that it gets dumped in theaters. I believe there can still be some really good found footage films with the right filmmakers attached, but all the signs look bad for this movie.

Godzilla52 I feel like it could be a good sign (my hope is very slim, btw). Since they've been working on post for such a long time, the visuals could have been insanely improved.

blotsafun Visuals aren't as important as story, pacing or overall quality of the movie. I think if the re-shoots and re-editing actually fixed the problems with the movie, then it stands a chance, but for right now at least, visuals seem to be the least of this movies concerns. Hopefully Peli's just being a perfectionist and re-shot and tinkered with the film until he got it just right, but as adherent movie fan, the tell tale signs are telling me that this movie was probably in post production hell because something was seriously wrong with the initial product. Whether those problems have been fixed or minimized is yet to be seen. Very rarely does post-production actually work to the benefit of a movie.

As a graphic designer and photographer, I'm always excited for the aesthetics of a film's vfx and cinematography. Even if the film lacks in other fields. Not saying that's the only thing I'm looking forward to, though. Oren Peli has proved himself to be a visionary director that has the ability to, most of the time, give some unique details within his film's stories. I say that with his introduction to the "Paranormal Activity" films - his original film was unarguably the best and most inventive of the five films, he showed his originality and ability to create a simple, yet unique story. Same with his (sadly cancelled) Television production "The River", which opened new territory with what can be produced for television.

The base is heavily watched, so giving that they did get in, there is the possibility that they were caught by the security there and end up being hunted/ toyed with/ followed. There's obviously something off about what happens, and the trailer shows a lot. That detail might be the only thing hidden from us.
