I have stayed at the Areca many times and not once did I eat the breakfast that was included with the room rate. It didn't look very appetizing, at least to me. On the rare occasion that I do eat breakfast, I'll take a short walk over to iRover's for a Full English Breakfast which is very good and at a decent price. I always book a deluxe room with a pool view. I've tried to book the larger Executive Room, but it's always sold out since there's only one on every floor.
Looks like a very nice place. The price seems on the high side, but maybe guests get a lower monthly rate and therefore better value for their pounds or dollars.
You can get room rate lower sometimes depends on which booking site you use and how far in advance you book, but you're right monthly rates are apparently a lot lower.
Use the hotel late 2023 I enjoyed it great staff location enjoyed the pools. Rooms tidy and clean if your more budget conscious their other nice hotels nearby
@@paulsrighteye Have stayed at Blackwoods on Soi7 which is fantastic and about the same price as Areca. Usually stay D Hotel , April/August Suites which are half the price of Areca but for location Areca does take a lot of beating. Have booked Nalanta opposite Tree Town for next trip but have not stayed there before but gets very good reviews.
You always make good clips. Looks a decent hotel. I've booked debua. Pleased with my choice. Came across a podcast called death railway revisited. Definitely worth a listen
Thank you so much, I looked at the Debua they didn't have breakfast at the time, do they serve breakfast now? I'll definitely listen to that podcast on the railway.
I stayed there a couple of years ago and stayed in the main building the only thing I did not like was very low water shower pressure besides that I liked my stay.
Beware of booking a Superior room in the Evergreen wing, notice the photo on the hotels web site is shot at night with the rooms lights on, the reason is the room is really dark and drab , the net curtains on the right enclose a small (1m x 2M balcony) that has a wood screen on the outside blocking off most of the light . My room was very dingy and dated , had certainly not been refurbed , the bed was on quite a high platform which was a totally useless semi dangerous feature if you are short as I am, the bath is the same, you have to clamber into the very high bath tub to have a shower and reverse to get out onto a shiny tiled floor from a shiny bath tub with no bath mat or hand rails. When I asked to move I was continuously told the place was full so had to stick it out for five days as I had pre paid. As Paul says great location.
Thanks for your lengthy appraisal of your Evergreen room, you are correct they have not been refurbished in Evergreen. With the breakfast room abandoned and reception empty the Evergreen building doesn't have a very welcoming fill anymore. Onwards and upwards I hope you have a better experience next time you visit Pattaya. 😎
It's a good hotel (stayed many times before) however, on my last trip I went elsewhere. The main problem is that you can't get a lie in or even a mid-day nap in your room due to housekeeping having walkie-talkies on full blast from 9-10am.
@@paulsrighteye Yikes. peng mak!!! I got a good deal, something like 1800baht with breakfast. That was last October, and I booked it 6 months in advance. x
Cheers helpful video. I'm visiting Pattaya soon for the 1st time and struggling to decide on a hotel. Prefer with a pool and also with both a bath and a shower. Worried some hotels are too close to the action.
For a first visit you can't go far wrong with Flipper Lodge hotel at Beach Rd end of Soi 8 . I think the clean, spacious rooms are 1600 ish baht per night with a good breakfast choice and a large rooftop pool. It was my first hotel I ever stayed at in Pattaya way back in February '07. Also you'll find it on websites, but you'll pay a small commission fee, so I just wander round Pattaya until I find a hotel to my liking. Which may involve staying in a bland place for a couple of nights, then booking in a nicer place long term and bartering a deal.
I have stayed at this hotel last year. It's ok, nothing special. Over priced for what I got. The breakfast was decent. But Be aware of what room you booked. The desk clerks will try to put you in the rear most building, the third building. The rear building is old and worn out. Good video
When you say the rear building do you mean the Evergreen building with the larger rooms? These rooms are the most expensive, if you stay again try to get in the Corona building.
That's your error. It's an overpriced, overrated dive. Sorry pal, only just viewed your video in its entirety and was impressed with the room size and hotel grounds. I agree that the breakfast was merely okay and yes Areca Lodge is in the thick of it. My personal favourite is D-Appartments opposite the Soi Buakhao entrance to New Plaza. It has very similar size rooms with balcony, small kitchenette and rooftop pool for 900-1000 baht per night. A small room without balcony is about 700.
Overpriced with horrible service. Stayed numerous times pre and post covid. Breakfast is edible, will keep you alive. Front seating area / bar on Soi Diana was completed early 2018, old news and always empty. Corona was remodeled 2017, while we were there, joy watching them sand and paint exterior of building. Many better places to stay with better locations and price.
The exterior of Corona might have been decorated in 2017 but the interior room makeovers were definitely finish last year, I witnessed them being done in October 2023. I agree it's becoming pricey would love to know where you stay now, always looking for recommendations.
@@paulsrighteye Last several trips, been staying at Caesars Palace on second road. Good price, not the fanciest at all. Soi 7 and Myth town are very short walks. Soi New Plaza next door. Easy to get everywhere you want to go!
Great place to Stay and reasonable rates ,ignore the Foolish comments from another know it all. Breakfast choice is massive, room rates start at about 1450 baht and the staff are great. Location is brilliant being 6 minutes walk to beach 5 minutes to Treetown. Anything better or equal to this and i am all ears...
@@tillithurts335 I have stayed numerous times over the years andi still think it is great. Rates have gone up slightly due to room refurb but for me i still rate it highly.
