notice how phelps remains under water off the turn much longer than anybody else. that's his signature move and means he's fresher in the final 20 meters.
Unless he goes into too much oxygen debt underwater and is less fresh. So it depends. Michael can get away with it here. But for example, if you watch Lochte's recent 200m free in Kazan, he spends a lot of time underwater in turns, but doesn't have enough to come home in the last 50.
Yeah because look at his stroke rate. He’s not used to swimming the 100 since he’s a middle distancer. He’s looking like he’s finishing a lot stronger because he’s a higher caliber athlete than the field and those athletes are specialists in the 100m freestyle whereas Michael isn’t. Even though Michael feels like he’s swimming 200 pace because he’s not used to the 100m freestyle he will win the race because he’s a higher caliber athlete than the field who are specialists in the event. However, because they’re specialists in the 100m freestyle, it’s going to look like Phelps has a strong second 50, when in reality it’s just that Phelps isn’t used to racing the 100m freestyle, whereas the lower caliber athletes that are specialists are ahead in the first 50m because they know how to race the 100m like how they’re supposed to. Simple logic lol
If you do not have anything nice to say, then you should not say anything at all. For all the comments I make for swimming on RU-vid, just shows how much I care for swimming. Also to say something like commenting for nearly every swimming video is weird, tells me you do not know meaning of the word weird.
Age group times, especially when you’re so young, don’t mean shit. You can be half a foot taller than the kid next to you, but four years later that same kid will beat you by a lot.
@@zaarow1344 I'm thirtheen and my time on the 50m shortcourse 26.5 even though on practice I went 26.4. And on the 100m it is 1:00.17. My resistence is shit. Still working on it.
