Yes! Doesn’t matter what genre she sings, you gonna feel it! I still declare to this day she has the best song on the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack, and to learn via Babyface she did it in one take!

AGREE 100%. Especially her live performance of the song in 1997 on The Rolanda Show. I have watched that over and over again for years. Like this Amazing Grace performance you can tell when she sang It Hurts Like Hell on Rolanda she was showing us that what she was singing about she has been through exactly what those lyrics say.

You need to get her album Amazing Grace! This performance and the rest of the songs make up the BEST gospel album. And I agree with you: Aretha is the best singer ever and my favorite singer!

You should checkout her adlibbed performance of "Precious Lord" from MLK Jr.'s funeral! to see her singing through the tears, and deliver the performance she did was astonishing!!!!!!

The difference we have here between Aretha at anytime in her career, compared to the "Jennifer Hudson's" of todays time is, when Aretha sings and goes for a high note or belt, it was all genuine and sincere. When she would sing a song, gospel in particular, what we saw and heard was real pain, emotions, joy, and not faked just to impress people. When Jennifer sings she tries to hard to prove to people she can sing. Like watch what I can do everybody, AHHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHH!!! Don't get me wrong Jennifer has a great singing voice with range, but I have never felt any connection or anointing from her performances, or even Fantasia. And I'm the same age as Jennifer. But anyone with common sense and real taste can tell and knows the difference between singers who sing from the heart and a singer who steps out on stage just trying to prove to everybody they've got "talent" by screaming at the top of their lungs.

Pat! Please watch the Netflix doc on Aretha- Amazing Grace- the entire album was recorded live at that church with many superstars in attendance- The Rolling Stones are sitting in the back. It’s incredible.
