Grammy Award-winning singer Jennifer Hudson took the stage at Greater Grace Temple on Friday evening, hours after the start of the homegoing celebration for Aretha Franklin, to perform "Amazing Grace."
@@denisemitchell3010 I love that you said that!!! It is a lesson that more people need to learn. "Losing" is indeed a state of mind. Two years after she was voted off American Idol, she won an Oscar. Is that losing? We need to recognize God granting us a closed door of a shack to make way for a mansion! That's in our careers, relationships and everything else. Use any kind of failure as a stepping stone to greater things. 🤗
@@denisemitchell3010 it is better to loose AI than win. How many winners have gone to have great carreers afterwards? Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.
I believe if she could make gospel regularly she would go somewhere deeper, i love her RNB i really do, but gospel would do more for her.. thats jus my opinion.
This was one of the most unapologetically authentic black performances and possibly her best performance ever. What a powerhouse of a voice and with such an ease of control. And the audacity of her to pour all of that out onto us and then come back like you didn’t just THAT! 😳🤯 what a beautiful way to show respect and pay homage to another legend.
@@john_cockpitAretha loved her and would have been proud of this passion. If you watch gospel singers, this is pure passion and emotion. She sang sang for Aretha
Just to explain. When black folk sing on a funeral, it's about getting a tune to mourn onto. It's not supposed to be a perfect choral. It's a perfect cry.
Troy christians i just had an epiphany. i see how church music praises god and pop music the devil. church music has a high frequency. the satanic music works on lower chakras. even the music by itself is satanic. kanye west tuned in to a satanic frequency by producing music to please the devil. it enchants people! music is very powerful.
I just watched her in “Respect” I didn’t even know she could sing like that. Made my cry and gave me goosebumps. I can’t believe that she doesn’t get the amount of credit she deserves. No wonder Aretha herself chose her for “Respect.” What an honor.
@@mbalenhlesosibo928 hi, I too have known the composer of Amazing Grace to be British slave trader John Newton, as mention in the Laudate hymn books. Is there another composer you can tell us of?
I'm basically legally deaf and I can still feel the gift and power in Jennifer's vocals. I'm glad I was able to hear her throughout the years so at least I know she can sing. RIP Aretha. 💜
The hidden scars a black woman carries around in her soul.... When they sang like THIS, that beautiful voice brings healing and the tears starts rolling... (I felt that) Amen🙏 R.I.P Aretha
Not gonna sit here and act like I've been to church the past 20 yrs..but dear God this took me back to my childhood..Tears of joy! We are such a special people.
I DONT LIKE her to play The The Rhe.Fantasia has the real GOSPEL voice.Hudson tries way to hard she wants to out do just like Patti.DONT LIKE THIS AT ALL.
U are a hater…If u don’t like her voice why keep coming back…She is hands down one of the best vocalist and I have heard her live on a number of occasions
@@tommygreene7448 hater? Me? NAH. I just find the woman crazy. Together with all record labels😂 BECAUSE; How many albums did he bring out?😂 How many OWN! songs did she record and scores any big hits with. If you can answer those question positively😂 Than we all are haters(the ones who didn't buy anything she published)
Watched it last night. Jennifer was outstanding. I watched Aretha sing Amazing Grace right after and was blown away at how similar and how different their voices were.
Me too. Like Aretha, she can sing the phone book and I'll listen with awe. You can tell the spirit was in that place. Fitting for The Queen of Soul, RIP.❤️ Her music has touched generations and still does.
Jennifer‘s voice is so amazing. It touches a deep deep part of your soul. She has not even begun to sing and I am connected emotionally. Aretha had that same type of deliverance.
I'm very pleased to know I'm not the only one that loves her songs, how often do you like to listening to her songs. She remains the Queen of soul, a great artist with lovely voice. RIP Legend.
@Ichigo Red Chosen said, "This type of singing was referred to as Negro Spiritual back in the days." Then you add "in the spirit of Negro Spirituals, " slight difference, but still just as incorrect. The performance is PURE entertainment. Did you happen to peruse the site I listed? If not you should.
@Ichigo Red I don't give two hoots in a holla what y'all call it...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! And I'M WHITE...THIS MUSIC HITS ME DEEP IN MY HEART AND SOUL!!! PRAISE GOD...☝️☝️☝️💗💗💗

Que trite noticia fue la perdida de otra gran voz son de ĺas grandes que nunca moriran en el recuerdo de la gente que Dios la tenga en la gloria 😍😘😘💐🌺💕💕
Years ago, my granny told me when she passes that she wants this sung at her funeral and I wish Jennifer Hudson would sing it. She is so anointed, before she even opened her mouth I had chills all over. 😭😭😭
@@edb2744 I agree. Her vocals is off the charts. It's like God gave us her because he was going to take the most influential people of my time, home! Her voice is phenomenal.
@@blackqueenmelanin1449 to me, Sarah Vaughan is the best ever, but JHud is def in the next group and that includes all other Greats. I feel blessed to come across such a voice again, she brings me joy, tears, goosebumps, all in a single note
@@edb2744 that's your opinion but Jennifer is the best and no one has beat her. Of you think Jennifer was beat, that's because of your own opinion because of your ears on what you feel.
GodLoveFreedom You've got it twisted, it was the hymns that gave slaves hope and kept them relevant even when white folks were selling them like chattel. Slaves were torn from their families and brought here and stripped of their names, religion, culture, and language. Yet, through hymns they not only prayed and praised God, but to send secret messages to each other they learned to communicate through song and instruments. So, don't blame the gospel of these hymns for keeping humans in bondage, blame the men that put them there.
Y’al gotta see her live. She came to my job like Two or three years ago and you could stay outside and heard her singing that’s how powerful her voice is

This was the funeral of the songstresses I had admired during her active years. Jennifer gave her a beautiful send off. I followed Arethas songs since during the 1980's. The best song I loved was " Bridge over troubled water" Thank you Jennifer for your wonderful voice.
My goodness. I don't even have words. Jennifer is THAT woman with the voice!!! I love her. And considering Aretha handpicked her to play in her biopic, that's the ULTIMATE compliment to Jennifer's talent and spirit and poise. Big tears rolling down my face listening to her sing this
Jennifer Hudson is starting to get recognized for her amazing talent. She has a very strong voice. She hits all the right notes. Also, the projection of her voice most people can not touch. I love this lady.❤🙏🏽
Rachel Reed SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SONG AND I HAVE TO SEE THOSE SCUM RACIST BIGOTS... DYSON, JACKSON & FARRAKHAN... WHILE WORSHIPPING THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! WHAT A SHAME! HOPE THOSE RACIST EVIL SCUM BIGOT BASTARDS ROT IN HELL!
Sometimes we lose to win as Jennifer did. Sometimes God uses our losing as the platform to our exposure to greatness. I love this song and Jennifer. She's a great example for youths of all ages. May God forever bless and keep her.
The fact that Jennifer got to sing at Aretha’s funeral and got to sing her song on American Idol is brilliant. Jennifer is top notch and is so underrated
Yet you came to a video clearly identified as Jennifer Hudson to fangirl Fantasia and Holliday? There must have been a reason why Aretha's family wanted Jennifer to sing this song. Show some respect.
Yukia Addison y’all should chill... there’s without doubt something/somewhere called “a black church” and we know it! He was only stating why he loves those kinds of churches... let’s not be too woke about everything! ❤️
