I love that Aretha was so content being as private as she was. She found a nice balance between being a public figure while not overexposing herself to the world. She's never harsh, but she makes it clear where her boundaries are. Along with her tremendous talent, I think that really helped keep people's interest on her artistry, and not so much her personal life.

Aretha really liked Joan it seems. She was very kind and gracious in her responses to tough questions. I’ve noticed that when Aretha doesn’t feel good with an interviewer, she tends to shut them down .

She looked absolutely beautiful with her hair styled like that. Certain hairstyles definitely brought out the beauty in Ms. Aretha.

Aretha basically said…”Stay outta my bizness Joan” 😭😭😂😂😂 I LOVED this woman SOOOO MUCH 🕊️🥰♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Aretha always came across very classy. She has as lovely a speaking voice as a singing voice. I could listen to her speak all day long.

If you look closely, you can SEE the gears of her mind moving to make sure she represents herself in as respectable and secure of a light as possible.

She has the most beautiful eyes. It’s a joy to see her. And she is so deep and well spoken. Class personified.

She did not let anyone misquote her and she would not make any apologies for her words because they were always genuine and steep and could not be repeated.

Aretha is regal and wherever she went she carried herself as such. Joan was the hardest interview back then. Other artist may have been intimated by Joan but not the Queen. As far as being relieved when you have cared for someone who required that kind of care as Aretha's dad you still feel the loss. RIP to both, the world is different since they both left.

Ms. Franklin was a very wise woman. "God is able."

This was one of her best interviews. She was warm friendly. I seen interviews with the Queen of Soul where she was very short, blunt, no smiles. We miss you Aretha. She was very honest and straight to the point here

It is amazing to me how some people who conduct interviews have such little knowledge about the lives of the people they are interviewing. I wonder if Joan Rivers is even cognizant of what it must have been like for someone like Aretha Franklin who was born and grew up in a nation and environment where Jim Crow and Segregation were state sanctioned. Aretha held back so much and exhibited so much grace during this entire interview.

When Joan said we’re you Relieved when your father passed I cringed a little. but I’m glad Aretha clarified her on that one. I understand totally how Aretha was feeling on that because my mom passed from cancer. She was sick for 2yrs and bedridden for 1yr. I felt no relief when she passed.. That type of questioning could’ve gone way left for Joan but I l on ve how Aretha handled it.

What a lovely lady, I've always loved her music but didnt know much about her life until I went to see the film about her life.

Aretha really liked Joan cuz she let her get away with some dumb questions but some good ones also. Joan wasnt afraid of Aretha & re re obviously found that refreshing. This was an excellent interview,!! ❤🎉😊

I like that Joan asks the questions that she wants. Others would be afraid to ask Aretha certain questions. I like that about Joan. Aretha seemed to get that Joan wasn't trying to be mean or even nosey. Her questions were valid. I miss Aretha too...💕

This interview was really a wrestling match because Joan was trying to get Aretha to open up and Aretha was very guarded and defensive. However, we know that she was intensely private. So I understand that. So in my opinion you had to be a very skillful and tactful interviewer to really get a good interview probably person that very reserved.

The record companies pitted the younger Natalie Cole against Aretha Franklin (8yrs age difference) and the younger Whitney Houston against Aretha Franklin (21 yr age difference. Mariah Carey against Whitney Houston (6 yrs age difference) and the younger Ariana Grande against Mariah Carey (24 yr age difference) Whitney collaborated w/both Aretha and Mariah. Mariah eventually collaborated with Ariana Grande. Sadly, that never happened between Natalie Cole and Aretha Franklin. 3 of these Divas are no longer with us.

Aretha’s natural hair was so thick and beautiful. You see her hair slick back and can tell it’s just as beautiful as her hair piece. This woman was gorgeous.

I think Joan was really nervous here. How ever the legend of Aretha being such a hard interview is probably dancing in her mind at the same time. Aretha has really never been a good interview she's just very guarded. She's so very pretty here.
