I'm glad we got to see her at all the ages, decades, styles, blonde, red, black hair, barely dressed, headwraps, wigs and her different weights/sizes. She lived a real life.
Omgoodness Yesssssssssssssssss I'on mean no harm to no other female vocalist but, to me she wasn't black, she was blackady black... Liiiiiiiike back in the day, wheeeeeeew Weeeeeee, late 60's early 70's with her Afro and beautiful African gowns.
I Agree 100%! I've always said that the song I'm Every Woman by Chaka Khan should have been given to Aretha when it first came out, cause she definitely was every woman. Throughout the years of her life she had the look of every woman and also the voice. Even though Aretha's voice changed over the years due to being a heavy smoker until she stopped, if you really think about it she also had the voice and SOUND of every female singer. From the beginning of her career in the early 60's till her passing. No matter what style of music and race, White, Black, Latin or anything else you can hear just about every female singers voice in Aretha's vocal changes over the years. I guarantee you no one can say that about any other female singer from any style of music or generation. That's why I like to say Aretha was the head of it all, and still is.
This interviewer got Aretha to open up in a way I haven’t seen in other interviews. Excellent interview. I love that she has a cheap flip phone . We love you Queen.
Well My Dear 💁🏾♀️ To be Up on @MissArethas Wrk as an Reporter wasn't Really all that Hard to do Especially in those Days were "SHE WAS ENDEED THE QUEEN" as in 😌 Tht Bitch ☝🏾😏 Everything & Everywhere 😌 #IJS 🤷🏾♀️
C-SuiteConnections, that is exactly what I have been thinking for a long time. That she knew how much we all loved her. There are not many entertainers, singers etc that you just feel that they are giving everything they can to you. When I bought an Aretha Franklin album, I knew it was money well spent. She has helped so many people in other ways with her time, talent and money that most will never know about. God Bless her!
C-SuiteConnections I Agree With You Why Did She Have To Die if they had asked Me Who The Number One 1# person you would bring back from the Dead I definitely would say Aretha Franklin Whitney Houston Tupac And Mahalia Jackson and Selena Cruz as far as celebrities
Aside from the Blue Brothers, I wish Aretha would've done more acting like a gritty drama or a comedy. She was very funny and had good comedic timing. In addition, I'm sure she could've played a very serious drama role. What a gifted individual! I will miss her always.
Just a marvelous interview with humility coming from Momma Franklin. Truly she was a beautiful person. God almighty she speaks well. How can u not like the interview.
Aretha doesn't interview much, so what a rare opportunity to see this in-depth chat. She is so humble despite having received almost every imaginable accolade a person could attain. It's because of that VOICE. That rare gift from GOD that has touched so many hearts and souls around the world. Like she said, Never become a star. If some other talents had heeded these wise words, maybe they would still be here with us. So, Rest in Peace Great Aretha. Sing in The Heavenly Choir. Much Love, Gwen.
I will always love Aretha. I can remember how my mom would buy her records on the stereo with big long wooden case. But before that her 45's was played on a little RCA record player with a little dog on it! That was my introduction to the Queen of Soul. Rest In Sweet Peace.
The queen is the queen we know she'll be fabulous but shout out to the interviewer he did a great job seemed he made her feel comfortable didn't ask dumb questions and was very gracious and complimentary. He seemed very genuine
I know right?! She was so real. You should check out her interview on some British/European television show, when her career first took off. She was on stage being interviewed, when she interrupted the guy and said excuse me a minute, she left the stage to grab a cigarette! She needed to calm her nerves, the interviewer didn't know what to make of it, but just continued the interview when she returned puffing away on her ciggie.
Why would she curse? Why would she be loud or wild? This woman was a class act. She didn't have to do any of that. Get a grip. The ignorance is so pervasive.
Jennifer Yearwood .... I’m grieving, I’m hurt, I’m angry., she was my friend....So this side of me isn’t the calm side of me. My “ friends” doesn’t go there. I do. The statement that I had made is strictly directed to the younger generation, like Black Ink, Basketball wives, rappers, etc. when interviewed. Namaste
@@akuapiatas Actually, for years she didn't do interviews at all. She was very hurt by the Time Magazine feature in 1968 -- she felt it portrayed her in a patronizing, stereotyping way , and she felt betrayed -- and it led to a deep distrust of the media that lasted for a long time.
this woman had so much class. this interview and all the rest that I have seen have been marvelous. she was well grounded and confident. World class woman and seems highly intelligent. Wow If only the stars of today would or could have some couth about themselves!
"After people pay their taxes with your money a few times, you wake up and you learn the business." She better speak on it lol. Ree Ree, like a lot of black artists, probably got burned early on and got tough.
About the "got tough" part of your comment. Have you seen any of the pics or video of Aretha when she first entered the studio at Muscle Shoals? Here was this young black lady walking into a room full of more experienced white musicians. Not necessarily racist but they sure weren't going to let this young "upstart" show them anything. When she first walked in she had this look that just commanded respect. And by the time she left that studio, she owned every single one of them. She had their respect, all of them, both as a person and as a musician. I don't know if it was "tough" but she had a charisma about her that made some respect her and others love her. I think they knew not to mess with Aretha early on.
Something few realized is that the Queen was a master of PR. She rarely took interviews, but obliged at just the right moments & always remained relevant! Always left us wanting more! RIP
The host voice is excellent! This interview reminds me of a time when journalism was studied and taking seriously. My generation dropped the ball. Now it's almost a list art. I appreciate every aspect of this production. This is probably the uncut version but I love it! I learned a lot about the Queen. Excellent questions. Thank you Aretha for sharing your life. R.I.P
I"m gonna miss her speaking voice and how funny she really was as a person, but needless to say,her incomparable singing voice will be here forever to inspire generations.
I love this interview; the questions so on point. She is the one and only Queen of Soul! This interviewer did an amazing job. Larry Franlkin, his voice is so smooth on the Voice of America and he's in awe of her and been so gracious with her. Thanks for this interview. Marvelous.
Very good interview, she seemed in a good mood and was actually humble in a few parts of the interview. She's far more knowledgeable than you realize at first. Witty and funny too. Outstanding interview.
Her look reminds me of my mother before the cancer and her death. My mother died from cancer and I believe one day soon cancer will die and we won't have to lose the ones we love to this disease. By the way she's was my mother and myself favorite female artist.
I wish I could play piano like Aretha did. She was super awesome!!! Every performing art school should ask to use this video. There a lot of pertinent information in this video.
Wow, That was the best interview I've ever seen her do, and I've seen quite a few, I found this to be very interesting, and realy informative. I also give credit to the interviewer who asked the right questions and made the right statements to encourage her to answer more in depth. Thanks to the uploader for sharing this video. God Bless...
She was so Sweet, Kind & Down to earth, she reminds me of My Grandmother (who passed away last year) I asked if she loved her too she said yes! I hope they got to meet & sing together in Heaven. R.I.P Grandma & Aretha.
I just love this interview!! He is a gem! How many interviews do you hear when everything is so positive! They get along so well. I just love it! Aretha is so sweet and humble and intelligent! Aretha Franklin , we love you and will miss so much!!!!! Thank you for sharing your gift from GOD!!!!!! R.I.P. our beautiful Queen. You will forever live in our hearts. She looks so beautiful!!!!!
Sharon Gray, Dr. Franklin received HONORARY DOCTORATES from the Berklee School of Music, Wayne State University, University of Detroit, Bethune-Cookeman College, Harvard, Yale and Princeton.
Aretha knew who she was. Like her humility and honesty. She was of course very talented. Aretha was the real thing. Very practical person. I like her directness but yet she was humble. She earned her title: Queen of Soul. Although Aretha always struggled with weight, she was a very attractive person. She was a women of Faith which shows in her countenance. Thank you Aretha for the Love. She really was a sweet lady but no push over.
This guy can interview! This one of the best interviews I’ve seen with her. The interviewer seemed very grateful to interview her. It seem like Aretha enjoyed this interview as well.
I love that she never blushes when recieving compliments. she accepts them graciously and graciously and politely thank the complimenter, without stwich or a blink, I love that about her, after all she is the Queen isnt she.
👑🌍👠💅👄: What I love about Mz. Franklin is she always HUMBLE! and to me she was and will always BEAUTIFUL! TYPICAL ARISE ! My late mom always played her music Mz. FRANKLIN WILL ALWAYS APART OF OUR UNIVERSE * LISTEN TO HER WISDOM! JUST LOVE MY BEAUTIFUL ARISE SISTER 👑👄
L Bell yeah Jill Scott I am disappointed w the selection of Jennifer Hudson instead of FANTASIA who she was ARETHA's 1st choice she endorsed her publicly to be her n any movie about her life
Jill nor Jennifer nor Fantasia would be able to fill Aretha's shoes. The actress who plays Aretha should be a "an introducing!" She should be her height, her skin tone and soft spoken. The problem is people will see the movie and see the actress as Aretha. There is no resemblance between Aretha and the ladies listed above.
Aretha you were not supposed to die until I died and I was going to will myself to live forever. Aretha I love and worship you your not dead because you live in my heart all ways
Sooo crazy...can u imagine the shaade??? We would have gifs for days . Seriously though, she would give REAL constructive criticism. Not the bullish they do on that show. Haven't watched since Ruben's year..
Awesome interview. He is very respectful and is able to get the Queen of Soul to open up and feel comfortable. We were blessed with hearing her speak about her life due to this interviewers timing, questions and professionalism. Bravo.....probably the best time she's had with an interview. Love you Mrs Aretha Franklin. Thank you for sharing your gift with us for over 40 decades. Rest in Heaven.
Is this a jigsaw puzzle?! Lol.. She was getting a little aggro.. Lol Wow and 6 Doctorates. Amazing! Her voice really was, is and will always be a natural resource. Rest In Peace Madam Franklin.❤
@Jennifer Yearwood I'm understand that. I'm speaking about those that come with negativity. Her hard truths are none of our business. Nobody has to agree, it's just how I feel
Such a legend, but more importantly, she was SUCH a wonderful person!! She was not only musically talented, but she was brilliant, kind and a rooted humanitarian!
Aretha, you know, when she sang , she command attention like ❤️ a queen 👸 .You give her rose 🌹 .One of the singer on the pop/r and b music 🎶 chart, one the great singer, of the 20 century!🔮🔮🏠🌇🌇💲📜🇹🇷🇹🇷📽🇺🇲📥🕯🕯📥💰🇹🇳💰🇻🇨🇻🇦📳📳🇻🇪📀🌎🇻🇪
