I grew up in the 60's when the radio stations blended all music into their playlists. Rock, Pop, R and B, Soul, Folk, Psychedelic. Nowadays music is segregated into tiny compartments which denies listeners a full appreciation of whats happening in the musical landscape. Broadcasting became "narrow" casting. What a shame. Don't forget, ladies, that this was a song written by a man from a man's perspective before being usurped by the feminist movement. A less sympathetic view was that this track was filler for her break out Atlantic album "I Never Loved A Man the Way I Love You". Five of the eleven tracks on that album were (what's called today) covers!! However it certainly hit a chord and with that superb arrangement couldn't miss 😃 Me? I bought the Otis Redding single AND the Aretha album back when they were first released.
An incredible performance to watch and get goosebumps from us Aretha doing (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman at the 2015 Kennedy Centre Honours. Carole King was there being honoured, so Aretha sang Carole’s song for her as a tribute. It’s sensational.

Could you check out the band "Poets of the Fall" and their music video "Carnival of Rust" They are a very underrated rock band from Finland and my favorite band and while the song is not my favorite from them it is their most successful internationally song by a huge margin. Also the music video was chosen as the best Finnish music video ever made.
This was written and originally performed from a man's point of vieew, by Otis Redding. Aretha's arrangement, I have to say, improves upon Redding's strong original.
Aretha's sister Erma has also recorded some soul numbers. She had a version of Piece of My Heart, also done around the same time as the Janis Joplin recording...in my opinion Erma's was better.
