The new owner of Aretha Franklin's Detroit home talks with Stephen Henderson's about his vision for the historic mansion, the importance of preserving Detroit homes, and African American home ownership. Episode 4703
I just read that Ms. Franklin's home went back on the market for $750.000, after being sold 6 months earlier to Mr. Kellum for $300.000, and with little to no upgrades! I'm curious to know what happened? Why wasn't the property fully renovated as planned by Mr. Kellum before placing it back up for sale? It truly is a beautifully situated home with tons of historic beauty. I hope that someone buys it this time, who actually sees its value, renovates and modernizes it to suit some perfectly suited family, and donates the historic items left behind by Ms. Franklin, to a museum of some sort where they can be appreciated.
