A very misleading title. I doubt there is a very real Danger of the whole glacier collapse just yet. Even if extinction rebellion would like you to believe otherwise
The Perito Moreno Glacier is a rare growing ice form. Nearly all of the glaciers around the world are retreating, or have disappeared entirely, due to global warming. ... As the Perito Moreno Glacier grows, its tip cuts off part of Lake Argentino. As a result, the glacier creates a dam and pressure builds in the lake.
The people watching close to it, that appears in this video, are in risk. It happened that some big waves after the ice broke swollowed persons throwing them into the lake.
Geoffrey Lee Would you rather have the glaciers just keep coming down from the mountains and take over the whole world? It’s not gonna just sit there in the exact same place forever.
Someone said when the hole opened up and the "river" ran under it it then released so much water that down river a whole place flooded catastrophically
This glaciar -as I know- is the only growing glaciar on earth still yet, because we left behind the glaciar era, and it brokes every 4 to 10 years, not every year, and when that happens the two lakes join together becoming one big lake ( The argentine lake) Thank for the video it remainds me very old times there.
Approximately every two years ice from the glacier obstructs a channel. Water grows more than one side. In summer, the water pressure causes the ice to break. The glacier persists and grows normally. It seems that heating does not affect it. regards
If all glaciers were to completely melt, in summer many rivers would dry out, fresh water would be much harder to get and crops would grow much harder, people would starve. Its impossible that glaciers located under 3000 meters would become ice free in the next centuries if global warming continues to rise as the last 20 years. So there is no worries needed
Your emotions ignore reality. Glaciers that grow and inch forward till they meet water and are turned into liquid water again is what they always have done. All to repeat an age old cycle. Good grief your brainwashing is what is sad:(
thank you so much for sharing with us the most amazing video i ever watched , BUT i wish it was not melting , in a few years the ice bergs will be a history
@@gododgers3491 I suppose you enjoy asking ridiculous questions?? I could break this down in smaller bites so that you'd be more capable of understanding but, something tells me you're an individual who could gives two craps less about the world we live in. You're dumbass as question say your life is all......about you.
@@petrhlisnik2833 Well.....you can be happy all you want and be in complete denial that they are disappearing. There is an ecosystem that revolves around their existence. Once they have melted away so does the ecosystem. That doesn't seem like anything to be happy about.
MrDrewthat The ends of the glaciers come and go as part of an annual cycle. If it weren’t for this phenomenon, the whole world would be covered in ice. Sometimes particular glaciers disappear, other times they expand into areas we haven’t observed before. Relax
With all this beauty and wonder of nature why would the Argentinians make themselves look totally foolish by trying to invade The Falklands Isles, theres nothing like this there....latin temperament I guess.
When Britain invaded the Falklands isles, Argentina wasnt even capable of resisting because they had only just descended from trees. Britain civilised the place , developed an economy and made it a nice place to live, NOW Argies want it....didnt want it before though did they ??????
@@tlonUQBARbabel They were the Falkland isles when you stupidly invaded and they are still the Falklands what gives YOU the right to call them anything else ?????
neinei vercital People need to build at higher elevations. One tenth of a centimeter rise per year is not the problem. Building your house in coastal areas is the real problem. You shouldn’t be able to get wiped out by a five foot storm surge.

It's funny to hear the people laugh and cheer the calving of the ice, because when the ice is gone, humans will have gone extinct as well. It seems odd to cheer extinction on, but to each his own.
