Honestly, when I was learning English I used to speak to myself in the mirror. That is how crazy it got for me, so hearing little comments like your English sounds like a native speaker is gratifying. And then you have the people that try to put you down by saying comments like your accent is fake. I am sure it works all the same with all language enthusiasts across the globe. Keep it up, Nate. We aren’t an off-brand Italy. Argentina’s infrastructure had in mind France. And many things more, because politicians of the late 1800s viewed France as the ideal country and Italy as... well let’s say they didn’t like it. Italy’s footprint is primarily in the language, food, customs, and the people itself because a lot have italian blood. Also, Argentina received people from Spain, Germany, France, England, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Poland, and other places.

Argentina no copia a Italia. Ellos inmigraron aca y por eso hay muchos italianos, se puede ver como dijieron en nuestra cultura, lo que ellos estuvieron viviendo aca su cultura se hizo parte de Argentina. Claro, Argentina tiene mucha diversidad de culturas y no simplemente de Italia o España. También de muchos otros países. También cabe resaltar que el hecho de tener tantas cosas similares a Italia es por la cantidad de inmigrantes que vinieron a refugiarse tras la guerra.

@@martinaitonaga no, Argentina y Costa Rica son los países latinoamericanos con mejor nivel de inglés en la región, que México esté al lado no significa nada. Aparte en Argentina (más en Buenos Aires) hay mucha influencia de la cultura inglesa y lo podés notar en los nombres de los equipos de fútbol (Boca Juniors, River Plate, Newell's, etc.) y en barrios de la ciudad (Wilde, Banfield, Longchamps, Temperley, Hurlingham, etc.). Aparte desde pequeños a los chicos se les inculca mucho el inglés.

Claro, pero súmale a eso que la gran mayoría de la población argentina es blanca por naturaleza. De hecho, ellos no tienen la mezcla característica del resto de los latinos. Particularmente por sus fuertes lazos con Europa. El 'look' de Nate es bastante común en Bs As, por ejemplo.

Everyone is like: wow she's so good in English. But if you think about it, it's not that surprising, she has family in the United States, so when she was little she had the opportunity to be surrounded by people who speak the language(kids absorb all knowledge faster than adults and they sound like natives, cause' they don't have a definitive language yet), it would be very shocking if she learned without having any type of contact with foreign countries, but still, she seems so clever.

it's very common to find bilingual people here in argentina whether if they have family in the states or not! it's the language that most schools teach, my first english class was when i was 5! also i've never visited usa before 😂

@Lu M Maybe locro, but I sometimes eat it when it´s very cold. I usually eat pasta, salad, chips, milanesas (breaded meat) pork, sausages, eggs and I sometimes eat asado hehe. I never have locro. I should eat fish more often. My city is by the river. Surubí is my favourite fish.

jaja me pasó lo mismo hace unos años, con los parientes britanicos de un amigo que vinieron a pasar las fiestas en la argentina. pasé la navidad con ellos y durante un buen rato, yo mudo.. aunque entendia todo lo que hablaban. de un momento a otro me puse a hablar, todos me miraban como "WTF???". Y despues me decian que tenia perfecto ingles jaja. Asi que ahi gané buenos amigos y aprendi muchisimo de ellos. El abuelo de mi amigo, un irlandes criado en UK, me tuvo doooos horas contandome historias atrapantes de cuando estuvo en la marina. hasta que luego lo pudo el gin tonic y se durmió. eran las 3am y estabamos a los gritos cantando canciones inglesas que ni conocia. Una gran experiencia que jamas voy a olvidar.

Traveling through South America I’ve met many Argentinians, and most of them spoke fluent English, but with a REALLY strong Argentinian (mostly porteño) accent. Some other people I’ve met from Chile, Mexico or Colombia also spoke English but with a more neutral or even “American” accent. This is the very first Argentinian person I hear speaking English with 0% accent. I wonder how many years she has lived in US and Argentina. I love South American culture. Saludos desde Sudamerica.

Bueno, en mí caso se inglés pero no sé si podría entablar una conversación fluida. Y si bien Argentina es uno de los países de Latinoamérica dónde más se habla o se sabe inglés, aún así no creo q sea bastante comun. Quizás en las grandes ciudades.

In Argentina there was a lot of Italian migration, that is why Argentina is a Tano country. For example I have Italian descent and I have citizenship. And when you hear Argentine imitations from other people who are not from here, they sound very Italian. literally, we have their accent but in Spanish. Saludos desde Argentina🇦🇷

Now I wanna talk to you in English being an actual Argentinian that never went to USA or any english-speaking country. Lo unico es que voy a hablar con acento argentino y con mucho SLANG pero de aca. 😂 Pd: Lo que dijo la chica no es asi. Argentina es MUCHO mas diverso que solo italianos mezclados con españoles, tambien somos descendientes de los pueblos originarios argentinos (mapuches, qom, diaguita, etc), descendientes de Portugal, Rusia, Alemania, Turquia, Ucrania, Polonia, etc, muchos judios hay aca... No me gusto para nada como lo simplifico la chica. Y tambien diria que la arquitectura no es tan italiana que digamos, es mas bien francesa. Bueno en fin, somos muy diversos.

Mal que le pese a los racistas colonizadores que "fundaron" mi querida Argentina, ellos no pudieron borrar del todo a los muchos pueblos nativos ni a la población afro que trajeron esclavizada. Todas esas etnias están también en nuestro ADN, no somos tan blanquitos europeos como a alguna gente le gustaría pensar. Sí tuvimos muchísima inmigración europea pero eso no lo es todo. Somos latinos, les/nos guste o no. Si no vayan a Europa, a ver si les tratan como europeos.

Im so sorry. I think as argentinian (and having italian heritage) and knowing that the numbers of italians and descendents of italians is really high in the country i still think that the conception of 'Argentina is the copy of Italy' is mistaken, maybe that seems a lot in Buenos Aires but outside that (even in Buenos Aires) the predominat is not italian is white (european and etc heritage) and POC (racialized people...indigenous, negros, asiáticos, and obviously mixed people that is not white, etcetc) and a lottt of native american communities and etc..

Yeah like in the far north you will see indigenous people, or maybe if you go to Misiones or the south you will find people with German Heritage, in Buenos Aires is predominantly Spanish and Italian, also in Cordoba they have an Oktoberfest, in Mendoza I have seen a lot of Italian descendents, while in Santiago del Estero, Jujuy and Salta I have found much more indigenous characteristics. Also, you will find people with Korean, Chinese, Lebanese, Syrian, etc. Argentina is full of different people and we should appreciate that. I am glad we are pretty "diverse", not so much, but in some way we are.

Argentinians usually have a good accent because we usually use loads of english words as "slangs" and we are also used to watch movies and series in english. (Usually with subtitles)

@@nayra_amanecer Usamos mucho "same", para decir literalmente que nos referimos a lo mismo. "Sandwich", "on line", "wifi", "bff", "baby", "sweety", "please", "hello", "sister", "shopping", "outfit", "delivery", "fashion", "sale", "e-mail", "bye"... Hay un montón de palabras que ya están incorporadas en el vocabulario. Además de que hablamos muchas veces usando muchas expresiones en inglés, muy en general.

Las demás las considero palabras usadas a nivel global (email, sandwich, outfit, wifi, etc.) difundidas por los medios y las empresas principalmente, no lo considero algo que se de particular y diferenciadamente en Argentina.

I live in Miami where you run into truly bilingual people every day - they sound and speak two+ languages as a native. The awkwardness is not that they speak another language, the awkwardness comes from having to decide which language to speak in groups of three or more people so everyone is included in the conversation.

I'm guessing you mainly chose to put the Spanish subtitles in case we couldn't hear people so well. But, I very much like being able to read the Spanish while I'm listening, so I can differentiate between individual words to help my subconscious learning. So, I'd love if you kept doing both just like the Easy Spanish channel. Great video!
