I was in Kandahar in 2009. I've long forgotten the names of anything in this area but I remember it all by sight. The beautiful shrine up on the hill, the base next to it, the banks of the Arghandab River, even that traffic circle with the murals on the wall. Afghanistan is a beautiful country. I am sorry I "visited" under the circumstances I did. I hope someday we can put it all behind us and move forward. I hope very much someday to return under better auspices. Peace be upon Afghanistan and its people.
i spent a year patrolling in arghandab 2012. everyone looks alot more happy there now. i met alot of great people there and got some great photos with the kids... im glad to see everyone so happy there.

As an Afghan I can vouch how hard working and tough but also super kind my Mexican people are. I grew up with Mexicans rather than afghans we are pretty similar and look a lot alike plus our food very similar too but Mexicans live their pork! Lol much love homeboy
Afghans are not interested in being leaders to the Muslim ummah. They just want to have safe and prosperous lives like everyone else without interference from others. Those who are interested in ummah leadership, please establish and experiment with it in your own country. Stop advocating for repressive regimes in Afghanistan while enjoying liberties in your own countries.

Your blog reminded me Arghandab war against red army by leadership of mulah Naghib akhond 1984. Red army were surprised how we survive and after so many attempts they withdraw thier soldiers and ee got succes. I didn't know yet mulah naghib akhond is passed away( May Allah bless him and RIP). Ameen.
