Argos renames the catalogue ‘The Book of Dreams’ as a dad’s childhood dreams are awoken when he sees the drumkit his daughter has circled. You can shop your own dream gifts: www.argos.co.uk/events/christmas
I am Nandi Bushell the drummer girl in this advert. Making this advert with Argos was AMAZING!!! I had so much fun and made some awesome friends! Argos and The&Partners thank you for casting me. This is the best advert ever!
Good Morning Nandi. It was a pleasure working with you and we are delighted you are in our Advertisement. It is the best advert ever and you rock. Lillian
the fact the directors of this ad actually respected the drumming community by hiring actual drummers to mime on the toy drumsets to make it as legit as possible is honestly impressive of course the toy drumsets don't make that sound but with how well it's mimed, you could almost believe it
No advert I have ever seen has moved me like this one has. The energy, sense of fun and joyful ness shines throughout. Enough for me to seek out this longer version, can't believe I've done this. Awesome!
Brilliant ad. Absolutely love this song too. The great Mel Gaynor played drums on this track. A little snippet of trivia is my dad taught him how to play when he was younger.
Being a drummer for years, I think this advert is absolutely fantastic!! First time I watched it I had the biggest smile on my face.... great song choice, great band, and all very tastefully put together.... wow a double bass drum child’s drum set... fantastic!! Well done Argos and well done to the actors playing the drums in the add.... this is one Christmas ad I WILL remember
What nasty remarks there are on here, shame on you. If you don't like it. move on. Personally, I think this is one of the best Christmas adverts I've ever seen, it NEVER fails to make me smile. I don't give a damn what colour they are, single parent, frizzy hair (that wee girl is gorgeous!) or the like, they are thoroughly enjoying themselves and it shows. Well done Argos, that kicked the lorry into touch lol!!! A very Happy Christmas to you all :)
@Alice Rabbit Why so racist Alice??? The advert is good honest fun regardless of the colour of the people in it. Sometimes you just have to enjoy the message instead of concentrating so hard on trying to make a futile point. Also, I am not 'sick' thank you, I obviously have a far higher level of tolerance than you. Now please go away and find something else to whine about.
@Glenda "kicked the lorry into touch" i never heard this phrase before - lorry of diversity ? Like one that ran over 12 at a Berlin Christmas market or 86 in Nice, 5 Stockholm, 8 London or 14 Barcelona
I'm in the US, and have never heard of Argos until now - but as a drummer and a father, this is the coolest thing ever! LOVE IT! Wish you were here - I'd shop!
3forparker I think it’s good but it’s the drum kit itself that bothers me and the song they chose. You can’t play don’t you ( forget about me) on a 3 piece drumset.
This is unreal. I have only "felt" something when I've watched ads maybe 2-3 times in my life. I've never felt so emotional (yeah, I'm a dad) on so many levels after watching this. This is not just my favourite commercial of all time, it's my favourite thing to watch of all time. Period.
CRY. I couldn't stop the tears from flowing. This is the third time I see this movie and the third time I cry. I have a 1992 recording on k-7 (not sure) where after getting unemployed and trying to set up a pirate rock fm radio (totally unsuccessful as it was clandestine), on the last day of that radio's life, my daughter who had At about 3 years of age, sat in the speaker's chair. I put a tape of children's songs in the air and opened the microphone for her. I have it stored up to this day. It is a gem. My daughter speaking the name of the radio: "PRISMA FM, 98.5". I cry watching this movie and I cry listening to the tape. IT'S A VERY CUTE COMMERCIAL. I DON'T KNOW HOW SOMEONE CAN CREATE THIS ENTRANCE WITHOUT GOING FOR SOMETHING. CONGRATULATIONS !!! Tradutor Google
Absolutely love this advert! The actors are great and look like they are having such fun. The Simple Minds sound track is amazing. I get quite emotional and nostalgic when i watch this.
What a strange comment! The two actors in this are both professional drummers and the little girl is actually well known, I believe she recently played with Lenny Kravitz. I come from a family of actors and musicians. You seem to know little about either. I simply like the advert end of!!
Can't believe I was showing my daughter drum covers of the minds song don't you forget about me just last week and to my surprise I see this advert how cool. Hopefully this will get simple minds a new younger audience 👍
CHOREI. Não consegui fazer com que as lágrimas parassem de rolar. É a terceira vez que vejo este filme e a terceira vez que choro. Absolutely amazing ad. Always looked forward to the Coco Cola Christmas ad but this is simply the best. Maybe because I am a dad and adore my son. Always feel emotional watching and rewind it. Omar and Nandi are Simply Mind blowing. Well done guys and Argos, you will have a tough job to match this next year. Well done Argos.
Something different that captures the excitement and spirit of Christmas and I love the fact that people still use the Book of Dreams to create their present lists! Finally an advert to match John Lewis!
Great song from the 80s...great Argos Christmas advert...great little drummer girl...great man in the drums...in all...I will never forget this Argos video...never...amazing!!!!
This is my favourite advert ever. Honestly a masterpiece. I get bored of the John Lewis/Coke adverts every year but honestly it's only 6th November and I can see myself listening and watching every time this advert comes on. Don't think it'll ever bore me. Well played Argos, well played.
We can see how much fun you were having and that's why your Christmas ad is the best by far. Happy Christmas Nandi you cheer us up every time we see you on telly.
Being a drummer I love it! esp the drum battle...Phil Colins and Chester Thomson would have been proud of it! You captured the fun you can have playing drums! Lets hope it inspires a new generation of players.
This commercial is absolutely amazing!!! I've watched it so many times. Besides the great music, it brings up so many emotions - Father and daughter having fun together living out a drummer's fantasy and reliving my youth of the 1980's when I was young and healthy. This ad really pushed all the right buttons in my life!!! Kudos to the advertising team that put this together. You are a genius!
Great ad. Fun to watch, feel good factor. Many years ago got my son Xbox and guitar hero from Argos for Christmas. He got into music so well he now plays guitar beautifully. Well done... great drumming Nandi.
What a great commercial. Well worth sitting through the almost 3 minutes that it runs. Too bad it's not on in the States. The ad agency that did this should win a bunch of rewards for their concept and execution.
Good acting, camerawork and on top of it all, it was FUN. Too many heartfelt adverts nowadays which might not be bad but Christmas is also about having FUN. Definitely a contender for ad of the year
I have so much love for this, not just cause of the drumming and 80s music and just being a little outside the box, it's just the nostalgia from going through an Argos catalogue and circling what you want and your parents having to look through it deciding what's the best and most affordable thing from your choices can they get! The best part then majority of people remember doing at Christmas as a child
...great to have firsts 1st time I've ever looked for an ad on you tube... utterly brilliant , fed up with the reduced tv ones....came to pc to look for the extended version.... and oOooOooooo so enjoyed the Teddy in the crowd now! ! wonderful ad xxx the little girl; the drummer; the Simple Minds song, well done and thanks to all involved, so enjoyable xxx
Difficult to explain or put into words that childhood feeling of picking up an instrument and having a bedroom concert to yourself. But this add does it perfectly. Awesome.
Wow, this ad is incredible. It was SO unique to have never first seen the ad, and watched only the behind-the-scenes views on Nandi's personal channel... and wondered all along HOW it could become (a completely-appealing picture SURROUNDING Nandi)... but it was a touching sentiment, a familiar and popular song, and the mere 'sum of its parts' I first (admittedly only got 'snippets' of) was greatly exceeded by the complete product. Whoever first conceived this ad (has probably done hundreds more just like it in terms of detail and sentiment, but I still think it merits mention that he or she) is brilliant... and "resourceful" (in the way of Nandi, too). Well done!
@@rebeccateece9292 What eloquence. Truly stunning. Truly a testament to the vaulting levels of effort and articulation produced by our education system.
Love this advert. Every time the music comes on it reminds me of my father. He passed away this year and I made a video celebrating his life at his wake and use "Don't you forget about me" as the background music.
Your comment reminded me of when my son was about 3 and my sister bought him a drum for Christmas. The noise drove me up the wall all day. After he'd gone to bed I hid it in a cupboard. I got my own back the following year when I bought her daughter a harmonica.
Saw this advert yesterday wen. It came. Out and loving it so far!!!! Xxmy fave advert of 2019!!! And love the song of the ""80s"" ❤xxx and the awesome drumming skills amazing!!!!!! Wowxx👍😆😁✌✌🎵🎶🎵🎵🎛 looks so much fun to. Make and do!!!! Xx love it!!
Honestly, not fair AT ALL... Watching this again after God knows how many times, and it just made me cry tears of joy YET AGAIN... Surely this shouldn't be allowed... not fair, not fair at all!... :) xxx
