Pretty darn cute, and a simple way to mimic argyle. I have used twin needles when sewing garments but wasn’t sure they would go through all the layers of a quilt. Now I know. My mom’s sewing supply included some very tiny bias tape which I thought I would never use. I like the wider tapes in order to be sure to catch all the raw edges inside when making aprons, hot pads, etc. Now I think I’ll just go find a monochrome charm pack and use up that tiny bias of hers. She passed away in August of 2018 at the age of 102 and I’m just now trying to work through her things and finding ways to use what she had. I’m also going to try to repurpose some of her cotton and denim clothes into quilting of some sort. Thanks again for your time dedicated to making videos for our inspiration.
Oh Laura, This quilt screams soft and feminine in its simplicity. I am soooooo glad you used pink. I made a face when you put the black up. LOL I have a twin needle which came with my machine but thanks for discussing the numbers. I just put the needle points down & eyeballed it not thinking of a number. I've been slowing down until I see a hand Dr. I hope it's fixable so I can resume my sewing hobby without pain. Thanks for the tips & sharing your method. Be Blessed!
I am a VERY new quilter having just really starting late last summer. I am 73 and have a lot to learn. I have sewn all my adult life, but not quilting. I have a 1630 Bernina, a 780 and just purchased the q 20. I haven't gotten it yet. I just hope I can learn to use it. I just got over 20 charm packs from a friend and this is the perfect quilt for some of them. I am working on piecing my 12th quilt. Thanks so much for this great tutorial. Thank you Laura. It so happens that I am making a quilt that will look like a stain glass window and you brilliant idea of using a double needle is just what I needed, and of course I love your quilt 😉
I made this quilt with your easy directions and my niece was thrilled! She is expecting her second baby and was so excited to receive her baby gift early! Your tutorial made that possible! Thank you so much for the pattern and tutorial!
What a lovely quilt! Thank you for your videos. I know when I first started quilting and hadn’t yet found my footing, your tutorials were very needed. You have a great teaching style and explain everything thoroughly. Thank you again.
This is such a clever idea, Laura! I LOVE IT! I think your black bias tape would look gorgeous with some jewel-tone fabrics. I'm thinking it might come out looking like stained glass :) Thank you SEW MUCH for sharing your talent with all of us! You rock! :)
Hello! I'm just now getting to sit and hand quilt! I just love your joyful positive energy! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! Such a beautiful quilt that looks difficult, but it actually rather easy. I think the hardest thing would be making that tiny bias tape and the sewing it on. I didn’t know you could use twin needles to sew bias tape! Another Wow! Thanks.
I agree with others this is a gorgeous and fairly simple quilt to make. Love the trick of using the squares rather than the triangle, those bias edges can really be frustrating. This is going to be my next quilt for sure. Thanks Laura!
I love this idea! I've made quite a few quilts now, but it's been over quite a few years now, so although I'm no longer a beginner I wouldnt say I'm advanced yet but this will still give me the little challenge I need. Thank you so much for such a thorough presentation!
What's not to like about this pattern? This is such a great idea and you always make it look easy! The fabrics you chose are so pretty and would make a great baby quilt. Thanks for sharing 😀
I LOVE this Laura! This is for sure one I will be making. I wonder....how do you think it would look if I used Chenille It for the bias binding rows? It could be a fun texture on a baby or child's quilt.
So pretty! I have been looking for a baby quilt pattern and this will be perfect. I think I’m going to use Chenille It for the bias tape to give it some added interest and softness. Thanks for the great tutorial and inspiration!
Thank you. I did an argyle in diamonds made of two trriangles and almost lost my mind. Nothing on that quilt is really in line but I finished it. This idea with charm squares looks so much easier. Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic. Like using the bias tape with a double needle 🧵. Especially love your Mettler thread cabinet on the background. Mettler is my go to thread 🧵
Hi Laura, I REALLY love this quilt. I've never thought of an argyle quilt. I think my son would really like one because he wears argyle socks! I have black and white fabric that I've been saving, I think it'll look great in argyle, I'm thinking a red to make it argyle would be perfect. Thanks for such a great idea. Sharon Martin
Super sweet quilt Laura! 😀💖 I've got it on my ' Quilts I'd ♥ to make list' Good for going for a change when in the project! It often goes that way doesn't it lol!😊
Very pretty quilt, and a great idea. I love smaller quilts that use one charm pack because I have a lot of them in my stash, and I know I can find one that will work for this project.
That turned out very nicely! I love that you chose to make the argyle stripes in the pink instead of black. I agree, it softens it. I may just have to try this technique!
Beautiful! And you made it look so easy! I have 2 quilt tops I hand embroidered that I need to quilt, and 1 that I embroidered that I need to see the squares together and quilt.
