Like its title, it is an Italian styled very graceful aria. You will maybe have the impression that you have already listened to this piece because it is a simple song, easy to follow like a pop song. The beginning of the minor passage(1:54) reminds somewhat "la Cupis" by Rameau. :) But at the same time, we are amazed how Guignon succeeded accomplishing the "complete" beauty out of such limits! Not even using a double stop which can easily fill the missing harmonies....

The most common name today is Violoncello da Spalla (small-big bass on the shoulder). And so far we found: Fagottgeige, Schultergeige, Schulter viole, Basset geige, (Bass-Geigen), Bas-Geige de Braccio, Hand Basse, Brust-Geige, Bassettgen(JSBach) "Bassell oder Bassette"(L.Mozart) Viola di basso, Viola (di) fagotto, Viola da Spalla, Bassetto, bassetto viola(Colombi) Violoncello da collo (Pallavicino opéra) Violoncello da (di) Spalla a la moderna(in 5ths, Bismantova 1677), Viola di collo, Viola Pomposa, Viola di Pomposa, Violoncello Piccolo, violonzino, violoncino, Violoncello da braccia, Viola da Brazzo(in bass clef, Legrenzi 1673).....One called it as one liked!...🥰😊
