Her voice is so hypnotising and the way her mouth moves when she’s singing I literally can’t look away I’m obsessed with her help

I love how she just throws the "everybody tries" in the middle of all the vocal sturm und drang injecting it with so much meaning

So many singers don't really get the point of this song. Love Elaine's original almost angry with them version, but this was slightly more compassionate with an observing vibe. Timing was flawless.

Nice...a fresh take on it. I always see something different with every singer's version. I think that's what makes the song a work of genius.

This was absolutely amazing. Maybe my new favorite version of this song.

One of my favorite stories about this song is that Elaine Stritch had no idea who Mahler was. She thought it was like a dessert, so she sang it like a throw-away line. Stephen explained to her who he was and what made that line so funny. She didn't care and still sang it that way. I am paraphrasing exactly what she said, but I have always loved that. She was a legend. I think she tells the story on her last special she made.
