Wow, I'm Arab and was just blown away by this piece of music. Hebrew sounds beautiful, I'd love to learn it.

I accidentally stumbled upon this masterpiece when I was googling my name and I'm upset I never heard it before now.

This love poem was written by Avraham Chalfi, in secret, about the wife of a friend and co-actor in the Cameri Theatre Company in Tel Aviv. After he died (by that time, the song became one of the most beloved contemporary Hebrew songs), the truth about the song was made public. The woman that he wrote the poem for requested that it be engraved on her headstone, uopn her death...❤

The melody is haunting and the voices are incredible, but perhaps it is better to not understand the Hebrew. Most Israelis roll their eyes at the bad lyrics.
