#DemonsSouls #Playstation5 #BodyTypeA Aris is a huge fan of the original, and weighs in on some of the improvements & changes to the remake. -- Watch live @ / avoidingthepuddle
It reminded me that in Elden Ring it's also body type A or B, yet just a few seconds after Melina refers to you as "Her kind" "His kind" in a cinematic.
I liked the original skeleton enemy design in OG Demon's Souls. They are clearly not "zombies", but crispy and clunky skeletons held together by black magic. That makes them creepy and menacing in a different way than other enemies in the game. The new design in the remake feels like the producers said "oh okay you need some tissues and tendons to move, not just skeleton. That's science". Maybe some would like the new design, which is fine by me BTW.
“You still have the original“ doesn’t fly as an excuse when the original is on a decade old console without backwards compatibility support, and the servers have literally been shut down, which is especially relevant given how integrated into the core gameplay the online functions are in this game.
It hurts my heart that the majority of people that will ever experience Demon's Souls will do so through the filter of souless Californian insect people instead of From Software's original vision that was clearly too primitive and misguided and from such an ancient system as the PS3 to be faithfully recreated. But then I recall that these same people are too braindead to reocgnize that they could get the superior experience on RPCS3 and the sympathy disappears.
The new fat official is the only change that I think is truly bad and ruins the original vision in a way. Miyazaki has said in interviews that no matter what character he is designing he tries to preserve an element of dignity in them even if they’re supposed to be grotesque. The fat officials were symbols of greed and corruption, but they weren’t monstrously and disgustingly gross. They were still well kept and dressed and carried themselves with their own kind of dignity. The new ones are cliched “gross fat guy with putrid boils” type enemies. Completely changes the tone. They were originally unsettling but now they’re just a joke
Yo, I wish they had the mask for the official dude. Like, it would be cool if they had it on him, and as you whoop his ass, it falls off vega style and THEN you see the new face underneath.
@@canevas1017 yeah definitely, that would be really cool. It'd also make more sense considering you need the entire suit to disguise yourself to save Yuria.
I chose type A because the walking animation looked more intimidating and confident than type B....until I started running lol. My character runs like he’s running down a very narrow shit covered hallway and does not want anything to do with making contact with the shit smears.
The worst change in the remake was adding music to the tower of Latria when the original famously had no music. It completely changes the vibe of the level for the worse.
Changing enemy and boss designs completely changes the context of the world. It's pretty disrespectful that BluePoint thought that they knew better than FromSoft aswell to go so far as to grossly misrepresent the original game like this.
Yep. Me and my wife moved to Kentucky 2 weeks ago. I don’t miss California one bit. Never understood the culture there. The homeless situation is unreal.
Why can't body type 2 wear Yuria's hat though? I'm a wizard in real life so I want my character to be a wizard too. Wish they'd changed that from the original
Yep. Personally, I'm so livid I'm literally shaking and crying. I started a change .org petition to change it to - *Body Type A* and *Body Type 1* Just waiting on the inevitable toxicity from the alt-BodyTypeC fascists to start rolling in
I was really skeptical about bluepoint and how they remade shadow of the colossus, and it's the exact same thing here. Updated graphics and new animations are nice but almost all changes in design, music, atmosphere etc. are for the worse
I wouldn't even say that the new graphics and animations are nice. Swings and defending seem to have less weight and recoil to it than in the original. All human characters have this weird flat color skin like clay figures or mannequins. They look like something from Mass Effect Andromeda.
Aris is smoking bong vapours. Vanguard was always piss easy, just strafe to his right and his axe misses everytime. People are bent out of shape by the redesigns because some of them not only go against the old designs they also contradict item descriptions like the crescent axe which mention the officials smiling or characters like Yuria who look like a Skyrim NPC. It's okay if Aris appreciates the game for other reasons than the story, characters, or the voice acting but it's kind of disheartening that he'd be so dismissive of it, even if it's just part of the script.
@@Yautah The problem is that there are people that do this for literally every remake, so when remakes like this have legitimate design problems, they get ignored.
No yeah I think the game is really impressive and they did a great job in a lot of ways, it just whiffs a bit on the like, aesthetic and storytelling of the game a little. Which to be totally honest most people don't value that much, but it isn't quite Demons Souls for me personally. It doesn't have the soul (lol) of the original game
@@Yautah Conversely I could say that you guys come across as sheep but I wouldn't do that because I wouldn't debase you for liking something. For what it's worth Bluepoint changed Flamelurker to be more faithful to his original design precisely because of people criticizing the redesigns, and the game is better for it.
@@Yautah Nobody is pooping on any parties. Have a good time, play your game. Just know that Bluepoint are hacks who made some REALLY stupid changes to the game most of which weren't necessary. They fucking butchered the soundtrack and a large amount of their interpretations and updates to designs were low tier. Shrine of Storms Skeletons are now people wearing bone shaped armor? False Idol gained 40 pounds? Why? Such stupid changes.
So I guess the next question is which gender is body type A, alpha, and which is type B, beta. Sarcasm of course but even then there is typically a preference to being on the a team vs the b team because alphabetically a comes first. No matter how you play it there's no winning in this situation.
My friend, this is the first time I watch one of your video and I must say... you look like Rick Rubin when he was younger... You got another sub just for looking like Rick Rubin lol
It doesn’t matter at all.... people are thinking to hard into it... who gives a fuck they had gender specific items in the first game or body type they just named it different who cares
@@Ricofyiiamaspy I have no idea where you stand on the gender issue (though since you're basically calling Storm Davis a soyboy I assume you're not one of the nice people). But renaming gender to body type A and B is pretty fair way to dance around the outrage culture of reactionaries on both sides (its a relatively neutral way to describe a typically masculine or feminine body structure), and expand the character creator to be more in line with modern sensibilities. Frankly, people should be more tolerant with this kind of subject. If someone identifies as a man or woman, then they're a man or woman. Gender Identity isn't going to invalidate birth sex anyway.
@@CJojo_13_ except thats circular, just saying you are something doesn't make it so, and men and women, male and female literally mean your sex thats how everybody uses it (except for woke morons) and its the very definition adult human male/female equals man and woman respectively.
@@Jackraiden500 I wouldn't get into the whole "circular logic" arguement when believing sex and gender are the same thing relies on coming to a conclusion (regardless of the existing facts) which stems right back from how they start the argument. Gender is often used interchangeably with sex, but that doesn't make it the same. Male and female is sex. Man and woman is gender. Its that easy. Sex: "either of the two major forms of individuals that occur in many species and that are distinguished respectively as female or male especially on the basis of their reproductive organs and structures." Gender: "the behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits typically associated with one sex." Most definitions will give a similar answer on the meaning of both words. You can argue that people use it interchangeably, but that's an arguement built on anecdotal evidence and is not objective reasoning.
@@NeroSparda99 personally, i cannot stand behind the decisions they made. aesthetically and otherwise. a game's graphics aren't automagically better with more saturation and bloom effects. the opposite.
Yep. OUR TEAM. Yo, don't mind me, homies. I'm high as fuck watching my boi Aris play this badass game I wish I could play but I can't because I didn't pre-order the PS5. But this is the next best thing!!! I xan play through the homie, Aris. This is so cool!!! Yo, let me remind this video because I spent alot of time typing these messages with my thumbs. I see you, Aris. Keep doing your thing. Peace
Lol you're right, spending $500 + $70 for an 11 year old game with prettier graphics and instant load times. Every other PS5 game is playable on PS4 and most upcoming games will still be on PS4 for a while, when it stops coming to ps4 the ps5 will be cheaper.
I wish I wasn't me too; I wanted to love this; I wanted to play it. I was so hyped for this when it was announced only to see them butcher Flamelurker's design in the trailer, turning him into a generic diablo demon and instantly all that hype turned to dread. They fixed that before release, thank god, but they couldn't fix all the other terrible redesigns. I can understand why people like it, it graphically looks amazing and I'm sure the game is still fun. But I can not support the bastardization of the art I love. I don't think they did it disrespectfully, but by god it doesn't even look like they tried to stay true to the original designs.
You're being very condescending, its clearly not about hating something new... If you really gave a shit about Demon's Souls and aren't just trend-chasing something popular, you too would be bothered with, for example what they did to the Tower of Latria. They removed the bell ringing of the Mind flayers, they removed Sir Rydel's moans that echo through the whole dungeon and they even changed the broken queen's haunting singing so now it sounds like background music, rather than a part of the world. They clearly focused on making the remake "epic", specifically for a "current year" western audience, which isn't what Demon's Souls (or any Fromsoft made soulslike) is about, which is why your sarcastic title is objectively right. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you like the game, I'm not against people having fun, but not all of us can just turn off our brains and be happy with shit getting fed to us, just because its shiny.
Lol i like how he triggers near the end. Very funny. btw fog in the swamp was mandatory and without it whole level is actualy sucks. Everyuone in right mind can't disagree with that :P
After the success of this game bluepoint will no doubt we contracted to revamp more sony classics. It's better to let your grievances be known with their development style before they remake a game better than demon souls.
this game and the PS5 are selling like crazy, if anything that proves those changes doesn't bother to the majority of people so if you don't like this sort of stuff things will get worst from here (and for the record, I think the inclusion of the whole body type thing is stupid and pointless)
Yes because demons souls never sold well largely due to almost no marketing. But popular doesnt mean good. Look the lords of the fallen was successful
-Dark Souls Remastered is bad because it didn't change enough. -Demon's Souls Remake is bad because it changes too much. Don't get me wrong, I don't deny any of the *valid* criticisms about the game. The HUD looks generic, the font looks out of place, and the body type thing is stupid. The fact they didn't even improve the AI is more of a flaw than anything. Dragon God's fight is still boring as all hell. But no, Astraea's theme is what's really wrong here. The Fat Ministers got a redesign? Sacrilege!
i dont think the hud being generic or the font looking out of place is "valid" criticism, and why are people making a fuss about the body type thing anyway, just acknowledge it and move on, but i do agree that they should've at least improved the AI. A more valid criticism would be about how outdated the online aspect of this game really is
So I’m not allowed to criticize anything other than gameplay? You realize there are people who like the game for more than the gameplay, right? I loved the designs and music in the original. Big part of what i liked it for. I hate the argument that the music changes or design changes don’t matter since the gameplay is still the same. Makes no sense. Just because you don’t care about those things doesn’t mean I shouldn’t and that I’m being irrational for not liking the changes. I could say the reverse. If i didn’t care about the gameplay but loved everything else, i could tell you to stop whining about the gameplay issues, because I don’t care about them, and that means you shouldn’t. Edit: i want to clarify before someone responds, i love the remake. I’m not so much criticizing it in this reply, I’m criticizing what the commenter said.
Dark Souls Remastered is bad because they didn't change anything lol. Remastering a game while putting 3-4 QoL changes (And not even fixing all of them. Things like backstabs in pvp and quad rolling are still there, let alone major things such as Lost Izalith and Tomb of Giants being awful) and making you pay 40$ for it is an embarassement. Demon's Souls Remake completely changed the game for worse in areas where the original aged very well (Such as art style and atmosphere, now the game lost his original feeling completely and it looks extremely generic in return); but then it didn't bother fixing the clunky, 11 year old gameplay to modern standards. Yes, Astraea's OST and the Fat Official's awful redesign are a problem, because they are parts of a bigger issue.
@@emarusso5758 idg why it’s dumb but ok I agree Twitter bitches shouldn’t have an opinion on a game they’ll never play because they aren’t actually gamers. Still tho I don’t get how people can be so pissed about the letters A and B
@@xXLunatikxXlul because saying that a body with boobs is female and one without is male is sexist. (I don’t really know, my comments are mostly “I laugh so I don’t cry”, but I don’t see other explanations). It doesn’t really matter to me honestly. I just hope they don’t come out bitching about the game anyway.
@@xXLunatikxXlul because why not. It’s 2020 at least let people that don’t identify as male or female make a character they associate with. Idrc but I can see they’re just being kind. Then again, this isn’t something to get angry over. It’s not like they made patches a flamboyant homosexual that has a romantic infatuation with the character, no they just changed 2 words into letters
On one hand I’m mad that the stupid carry weight thing is still in the remake but on the other hand I’m glad bluepoint didn’t change it because they would probably find some kind of way to ruin that as well
Don’t play the game then.... People always find a way to complain about something.... The tiniest things send you babies through the roof with tantrums like you made the game or something.
They made the Crest Fallen Knight black to be PC, body type is A/B now, not Male and Female, the music is generic and I can’t even hear it except on like Old King Allant, and the Fat Official Design, but other than that, it’s a great game and I’m happy to be playing an online better graphics version of a PS3 game.
some of the music is better on the original and some on the remake. its all preference. it would sound out of place I think with the old soundtrack with this new graphic approach and changes.
Almost all of the redesigns are so much worse then the original and it's a shame that you can't really go back to the original because it's only on PS3 without Online (Unless you emulate it). It's just a shame that one of the most memorable Souls games lost a lot of what made it so memorable in the first place.
Body type exclusive armour is stinky. Nobody is going to be able to use some armour if they have a pair of honkers in the way, yes... But there are plenty sets that change shape if used by the different body types, so why not just go full on the "armour molds itself to your body" route?
@@Jackraiden500 I'd think "wokeism" would make all armours work, even if one was a bikini and even if a character was circle shaped, or stickman shaped. No..?
It does sometimes. I also think a lot of the graphical "improvements" make it look kinda soulless and sterile in a way compared to the original. Sue me. I think this is definitely the way to play the game if you never did back in the day though. Would definitely be an awesome first experience with Demon's Souls.
