I got in the Type 99 long rifle a few days ago, and the bolt is in desperate need of oil, heckin' dry. I also wouldn't have thought taking it apart would be that easy! Thanks for that bit!

I appreciate the clear and concise instructions! A friend got me a Type 38 Arisaka rifle 1942 Transitional Model and I’m very excited but I wanted to make sure I could take it apart first before I shoot lol!

I got my type 99 last week and cleaned it for the first time today; i have snap caps and my ammo will be here tomorrow, and if had watched your video fist, it might have saved me 60 seconds! good cinema, comrade. (.: glad I got this instead of the sportirized mosin, even though the ammo is higher than camel cuchie ).:

Conundrum Contingencies type 99s are cooler than Mosins, but let’s not say it too loud.

Inherited a Type 38 school rifle. It has some kanji on the receiver ring I have never seen before and I have not been able to translate them. Please understand that I understand that this is non firing training school rifle. Took the bolt apart and cleaned and reassembled. As far as I can tell the safety is not going to the 90 degree position. It will only rotate about 1/2 way to the 90 degree position. The rifle is in pretty bad shape but the internal bolt parts look pretty good. Is the safety on a training rifle supposed to rotate to the 90 degree position?

My safety wont work any idea how to fix it it wont fully ingauge the safety mechanism I twist it and If I move the bolt at all or touch the trigger it goes of safety

Idk if anyone will see this but I have a arisaka type 38 and I think my bolt might be a type 99 how do I tell what bolt I have?

The safety on my Type 99 Arisaka does not work. Is this a common issue that you may know the answer too? I believe I put everything together right

Your video is great. I somehow got my bolt stuck. I put the safety plunger in wrong and now I can’t get the bolt out. I can press it in but can’t turn it and can’t get the bolt out of battery.

I have a type 38 a type 99 and a “ last ditch “ type 99 . Thanks for the video , but it appears on your type 38 you have a type 99 safety knob . The type 99 had the groove or valley on them and the type 38 had a ridge that would interfere with you sight picture if you were aiming it
@klee77721
@klee77721 5 лет назад
Question, when dry firing the type 38 does the knob move forward and back rapidly or is it supposed to be like a Remington 03a3 where the safety knob/firing pin is in cocked rear position them forward when fired?

Thanks for the easy to follow informative video.... I was able to easily disassemble/ reassemble the bolt on my type 99 following your instructions..... I do have a follow up question. After reassembly of my bolt the firing pin is protruding in the bolt face. When I cycle the bolt in the rifle just as it is about to go into chamber lockup , I feel spring pressure (I assume it is cocking the rifle ). My next assumption is that the firing pin Is being retracted back from the bolt face just as it is locking in the chamber. I am a little concerned about stripping live rounds from the magazine with the firing pin sticking out and then retracting the Firing pin just before chamber lockup..... My Spider Sense tells me that this is BAD! BAD! BAD! Can you tell me if that is normal bolt cycle operation for this type of rifle .... protruding firing pin strips round from magazine and then retracts just before chambering the round and lockup???? I have a few bolt action rifles and none of them work that way. I don't know if this is just the way this particular rifle works or if there is something wrong with my Bolt assembly.... Thanks in advance..

***** Yes that's it in a nutshell.. I think I have resolved the mystery. After closer inspection of the Firing Pin, it looks like the pin had broken and the previous owner attempted a repair. Welded a new tip onto the end... unfortunately did not bother to measure the original length hence the protrusion.... Mystery solved. I am thinking about grinding it down to the proper length but am skeptical of how long the weld will last. I guess I will be looking for a new Firing pin for my Arisaka...

I have a Series 7 Nagoya. The extractor is worn and won't extract the brass. Is there any way to resharpen the extractor, or is it a replacement thing for the extractor ?
@MrBluegrassfiddler
@MrBluegrassfiddler 7 лет назад
Many thanks. Yes, the leading edge / tip of the extractor is rounded off and, at least they are inexpensive on eBay. Just need to get one that is not ... also ... worn.

Hey I accidentally put the firing pin on the lower notch and reassembled it without noticing, but now when I turn the safety knob the spring won’t come out and I can’t even close the bolt because of this is there anyway to fix this, thanks in advanced
