Roosevelt lake was a great resupply spring 2022. The “hiker-shed” had a good selection of hiker-box options and the shed was open for charging electronics. The gals in the restaurant/bar even let me top off my phone on the register after the sun went too low for the solar power at the shed. They also have a thru-hiker camping area off to the side by the shed. They do charge a $10 holding fee for your box if you send one, but I thought that was reasonable to ensure a full food bag for the next several days. All together, I was real pleased with the friendliness and services the marina folks provided

Hey Stefan, thanks for all the valuable info. I went to Coronado High School and then on to ASU back in the day; I'm in San Diego now. I have a few JMT's to my name but haven't earned my stripes as a 'through hiker' yet. Have my eyes on the AZT. I am wanting to supply my entire hike with boxes so I really appreciate this video. I am wondering, since I can't ship ISO fuel for my pocket rocket stove, what would you advise me to do if I hope to rehydrate a meal each night? Aside from the REI in Flagstaff, finding fuel in these little towns looks doubtful.

Your videos have been exactly what ive needed dor information. Maybe youve said it in another video but im curious, when you say "light resupply, moderate resupply, full resupply, top off" what things other than water and food do you find yourself neededing? Just wondering about your rate of consumption for things and what generally you pick up on a top off or light resupply vs a full resupply. Appreciate any info

I eat 3000 + calories per day. So try to achieve that number is my goal. A top off means just to grab a small amount of things to continue to a larger store that will have a full resupply meaning a store with everything like a walmart. A moderate resupply means they have a small selection of items for purchase. What each person eats is truly different. Im cheap so i buy with that in mind. CALVES

@calveshikes thank you. Planning to do a northbound this time next year. I also like to operate efficiently so cheap is good!

Great video. Very helpful. For the towns you mention do you have your preferred road crossing, trailhead or way to get into those towns? From the FarOut app it looks like some towns have multiple access points.
@calveshikes
@calveshikes Год назад
If you want to get into Oracle i wouldnt do american flag trailhead, i would do highway 77 mile 208 and for payson i wouldnt do mile 385 on highway 87. I would hitch in at Pine, Arizona at mile 456 (much easier and trail angels available to help)
@calveshikes

If there is a town your referring to specifically let me know. I put the two that have options farout will set you up for failure on this trail, i find its best to have a altenate offline map, like maps.me so you can see where everything is thats not on farout/ guthooks
@calveshikes

Id highly recommended downloading a offline app like maps.me so u can find everything off trail. GUTHOOKS stinks for this

Where would you absolutely send a box. I’m trying to re supply as I go as much as possible.
@calveshikes
@calveshikes Год назад
Mormon lake, there is nothing there. I've also would consider is roosevelt marina, if your not keen to hitch to punkin center for the dollar general. And another option would be south rim. I've been lucky each time and they were fully stocked but if you hit them on a down week it could be difficult to resupply. Thats my thoughts. Mormon lake 100% u will need a box

Maybe, try calling the general store and see if they will let you send a box. There is also a post office but dont know the hours and I would assume they will be limited
