Fafita was running for his life the entire game. To say BYU doesn’t have a pass rush isn’t entirely accurate. They may not be getting huge sack numbers, but they are pressuring QBs into making poor decisions.

Dudes, BYU Homer, dyed in the blue wool here. Hearing you not being able to say enough good about the Cougs is so uplifting to me. I live in Florida and woke up after Milton paid my town a quick visit. Thankfully not a lot of damage, but after four days without power, no phone, no internets, I know it's internet, and no way to know what happened in the game was hellish. Finally a rep from FPL came by the house this morning and said power in 10 minutes. First thing after powering up my phone and tablets, I call my gf and then went to RU-vid to find out what happened in the game and I watched your video first...and all is good for right now Honestly, I thank all y'all so much. Life is good. 🎉

As a BYU fan, I appreciate the analysis. You mention the Cougars might be the least flawed team in the Big 12. I don’t see many (any?) flaws in Iowa State. They might have a better defense than my Cougars.

As a BYU guy... REALLY well said. Thanx for doing our staff & kids justice. Wish we had the big-time NFL talent on either side, but I kinda doubt we got that in a single player this season. (Though we certainly have a couple borderline NFL guys on both sides. And some absolute dawgs in guys like Jacob Robinson & Chase Roberts, etc. -- & grit & motor in spade-fulls across both the DL & OL; really, this is the most disciplined BYU squad I can ever remember, as well). As for Jake Retzlaff -- he is NOT talented enough to be an outa-system guy at this level of ball -- YET that is the type of QB he was in a dominant way at the JC level. So I'm really proud of him of cleaning his game up to the level he has. Cuz he's done a good job of finding the balance of playing clean, but of stepping up & playing large, too. AS for conf predictions -- IF the conf were to square off in a title-game match right now, I think you gotta put KState & Iowa St as the favorites (both REALLY good teams -- & with the marquee talent). But we & TTech are certainly capable of winning it all, too. IF CU continues to improve & clean things up -- I do think they're still in a position to crash the party with their sheer skill-player talent & depth. I actually thought KState was gonna run away with that game when Hunter went out -- but in the 2nd half last night they showed a level of heart I didn't think they had. As for KState's top-shelf guy -- man, Giddens is an absolute nightmare. In retrospect, I'm really proud of my Cougar D keeping him in check as well as we did (NOT that he didn't look unstoppable at times against us, too). Between his power & Johnson & Edwards's speed -- it's hard for me not to see them as the favorites to take home the title. I'm still a bit in shock that we were able to get their wheels to fall off in Provo.

BYU did look good everywhere last night, not great but solid and a team like that is tough to beat.

I agree with your analysis of BYU, and would add this. BYU is not killing them selves with penalties and turnovers like last year. Also they are not playing from behind, which led too turnovers. Retzlaff. Is doing so much better protecting the ball and improving every game. The star of the Defense is Coach Hill.

Pass rush? They had 15 QB hits! 15. A Sack fumble. 3 picks (from pressure). Held to 27yds on 7 carries. He was running for dear life all game.
