I still love watching this. I can only imagine how scary it is to make an Ayreon album knowing the bar has been set SO high by previous albums. But he just went into the studio and made the best one yet, like it was no big deal.
For some reason this remains my favorite Ayreon album. When I heard it the first time (kinda like "meh, Arjen can't possibly surprise me any more"), I went into a trance of listening to this over and over again. What a piece of art!
The doors to music heavan have opend wide once again. Guitars, keys, drums, harmonics, palm-mutes and hopefully a surpricing singers line up. I wonder and can only imagine what the story is going to be about. Thank you thank you thank you so much Arjen. Good luck and greetings to Lori too. It looks like she's taking good care of you, Thee, Milk, Cookies.
Ayreon was what got me into prog music to begin with. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for every masterpiece of an album you've crafted, and I will await this one with more anticipation than I had for Rush's Clockwork Angels. Keep on rocking, metal hippie god!
Man, even after his elbow injury, and his tinnitus, he's still going to complete this album. Arjen, you are my favorite musician of all time, and this album is going to be jaw-dropping!
I'm wondering if any of the (relatively!) newer Prog artists may make the cut this time. Perhaps Tommy Karevik (Seventh Wonder), Ross Jennings (Haken), Diego Marchesi (Kingcrow), or Herbie Langhans (Beyond the Bridge, Sinbreed)? Just a few that come to mind ;) VERY, VERY EXCITED FOR THIS NEWS. Became an Ayreon fan just before 01011001 was released, and this will be my first time on the HYPE TRAIN!!!
Otherwise here some suggestions of awesome musicians I'd love to see: Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Jani Liimatainen (Ex-Sonata Arctica, Cain's Offering), ZP Theart (Ex-Dragonforce), Timo Kotipelto (yes another song plz), Fabio Lione (also another song plz:D), Amanda Somerville (Aina), Till Lindemann (Rammstein), Christian Älvestam (Ex-Scar Symmetry, Miseration) Roland Johansson (Ex-Sonic Syndicate), Sabine Scherer (Deadlock)
Steve Wilson is pretty arrogant when it comes to dissing old style prog (and has mentioned it more than once in the press). His music is too moody and waaaay too self indulgent for my tastes, and his ambient / electronic side projects are not very good. I'm glad he won't be featured on this album. Arjen has more talent in his little finger than SW has in his entire self righteous body. Can't wait for the new album !!
Actually, 'The Theory of Everything' is a book written by Ken Wilber, about "merging" all views, or rather, not neglecting other views, an integral view of all things. In short, everything is true based on the context. So I'm guessing it might have something to do with that, since he already explained the beginning with the coming of the Universal Migrator, the first soul :)
That's what I'm thinking. Also see how he switches from the black jacket (The Human equation), to the hippie clothes (The Electric Castle), and the Silver (Universal Migrator), your theory definitely goes into the theme of the timeline or evolution of existence and life. Should be just a few months away, and I can't wait! :) Ayreonaut for life! \m/
Fifty Space-Bucks says Tobi Sammet will have at least a small role on the album even though he has the most annoying voice in power metal. My dream album would feature Tony Kakko, though. Not that the star power matters. Most of the best performances in Arjen's music came out of singers I'd never heard of.
How is it that you are not more recognized as actual talent? I hear all about artists using autotune and have terrible messages of gangs and violence all the time but no one I know has ever heard of you. Are you just more popular in Europe or something? Maybe that's it, I DO live on the west coast of America.
I screamed so loud the cops came here XD, And they asked what's wrong? So I said: THERE IS A NEW AYREON COMING!!! he: What is an Ayreon? Me: THE BEST MUSIC EVER!!! He: Are you kidding me? Me: NO! THERE IS GOING TO BE A NEW AYREON! He: No... I meant... Where you serious screaming that loud for a new album? Me: Yes :D, And then he walked away :c
I know it's in its early stages of development, and I don't know if you've considered vocalists, but have you though of trying to get Astrid and Wilmer back for this album, there are so many of us Ayreonauts who want to hear more from them. So excited to see this come together. Ayreon forever! \m/
Devin and Anneke have already been on albums. You can't recycle vocalist. What do you think this is, a *common* prog project? :P I'd love to see Steven Wilson, but he's all, "Ooooh, no, aliens, I can't do prog about aliens, that's way too typical for prog..."
Whats your problem? If I ever make a ''GAY IN PROGRESS'' t-shirt, Don't worry I will make it for you Haha and Why do you think you're the best, insulting the other people Why are you called pajaritodelodio? I bet you're a latin/spanish
When will you make a full collaboration album with Tobias Samnet? Ayreon and Avantasia are the best metal opera project ever in my opinion and a collab would make the ultimate metal opera! You will make a lot of fans happy of both projects!
The great thing about learning this great news so late, is that the release might not be too far away...! We are very much looking forward to your new work, Arjen! Warm regards from the cold north of the Netherlands.
A few suggestions for vocalists and musicians. Jari from Wintersun. Peavy and Victor Smolski from Rage. Karl Sanders and George Kollias from Nile. Hansi of course and Tobi Sammet :D You can pick the women, we trust you Arjen :)
Cant wait to hear how the story continues Everything about the Ayreon universe is awesome, the music, the story, the atmosphere, the artists. Well at least we know what the best album of 2013 is gonna be :D
Oh my... I do so hope you will release the new Ayreon in the same manner you did with your solo album (which I loved!) Signed copies, t-shirt, poster, stickers kind of packages :D This video made my day at work see the light.
Saw this video first on my smartphone in a metropolitan area between thousands people doesn't know nothing about the best music news since 2008. Can't wait to have my preorder signed copy between the others.
You all know Arjen doesnt like to do Concerts :-( it would be too expensive to do it I think.... but we don have his music, masterpieces, each and every one of them... I cannot wait for this new album
over two months since and I can't go a week without listening to the little audio snippets in this video again. Needless to say I haven't been this excited for an album since Clockwork Angels.
hm, well im excited, im always interested...i for one am hoping for Human Equation part 2...to me the storyline was the coolest thing in any album that i've ever heard, and nothing has ever matched it
From the begining i was smiling. through out the rest of the video and up to the point where he circled PROG, i believe my mouth hit the record for biggest smile, like i was going to eat my own head.
Awesome!!!! I'm sorry to say that I didn't like his last project Lost in the New Real. It's the first one of his projects I actually didn't like. Very much looking forward to this one!
how is a artist like Arjen forced to eat of a plastic spider-man plait (1:25) ? If this was a fair world he would be eating his biscuits off marble plait encrusted with pure awesomeness.
I guess I will have to wait until it comes out to see if you used any of my storyline continuation suggestions or something else entirely new that I end up liking better.
OK so I peed a little but don't judge me. Have you ever seen a doggy so overjoyed to see you that the tail wags furiously and he/she pees a little, same thing here.
Now where did I put that time machine??? Sounds great Arjen (I thought it would be a new Ayreon) although you could be reciting a phonebook and I'd still love it.
I just shat myself. After 01 and the subsequent compilation album and Epilogue I wasn't expecting Ayreon anytime soon... or ever again. Pleased to be wrong. =)
Fantastic news! :) Oh man how I would like to hear Ray Alder from Fates Warning in Ayreon...I know it´s not gonna happen, but I´m a dreamer :) All the best, Arjen!
This is amazing news! I recall Arjen mentioning that it could possibly be 10 years until the next Ayreon. Really happy to hear it's coming out next year!
That's great news! I wonder what singers you come up with this time. If I may do a suggestion: get Tommy Karevik (Seventh Wonder, Kamelot). Great voice!
4 vocal requests: 1. Devin Townsend - You all know why. His "singing" is stronger than ever now. 2. Anneke van Giersbergen - Again, obvious why, she's the vocal queen. 3. Christian Älvestam - If you want awesome extreme growls and bluesy clean singing, this guy is a machine. 4. Adam Lambert - Yeah, he's a pop star but he is an exceptional vocalist and he'd be the PERFECT fit for a prog rock opera. Any honest person will admit this especially with his musical background and character work.
Ayreon recycles vocalists all the time, Damian Wilson has been on about 90 of them and I hope he is on this too. Hell, if not Devin then the Ziltoid character, lol. If I had to pick two though, it would be Christian and Adam Lambert for the freshness I guess. Those two would be perfect for a character driven music project like this with their versatility.
:D My only guess is where in the storyline will this take place... could it be a prequel to 01011001 (Age Of Shadows)... or maybe the construction of the Dream Sequencer... maybe the war of 2084? Maybe even the New Migrator travelling back to Planet Y (a sort of "Universal Migrator Part III")?
there are some pretty creative songs there, similar to Ayreon. I like how he can bring nearly any instrument to prog and they fit so well! At first I thought that album was kinda unimaginative and repetitive, but for the 3rd hearing it stuck in my ears :)
"Universal Migrator I and II" are coming out on VINYL, woo-hoo!! Please re-release "The Final Experiment" on vinyl too, it's my all-time favorite Ayreon recording !! Can't wait for the new recording too. Arjen is such an amazing talent !!
