Once you love Arjen you can't unlove him. The guy is awesome, his work, his personality, his ethics... To be absolutely honest, I didn't like The Theory of Everything album, but this new album is one of his better works, The Source is perfect. It doesn't matter if you play Ayreon, Star One, Guilt Machine, Ambeon, The Gentle Storm or his solo albums, Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a genius.
Arjen's reason for calling the first Ayreon release The Final Experiment reminds me of Square's reason for calling it Final Fantasy & now they're up to the 15th one! Let's hope Mr. L can do that many.

Thank you for this interview. It is still relevant even after one year :)
Appears as if Arjen's got a skinny upper body with muscular legs! I hope Mr. Postman delivers The Source today. If not, I'll make due with the new Barock Project and Big Big Train albums. Masterpieces bloom like madness in the Spring. Oh no! I mixed Ian's metaphors!
I'm almost shocked that Arjen has the same view of music, especially at OUR age (I'm 54), just about every aspect of it we are similar, and that we just can't stay in the 70's thru 90's, music evolves - the newer music has value too. I would LOVE to buy the guy a cup of coffee and just talk music and what we think of the world today. And yes, his hidden opinions do make it through all his albums, but in a way that we can learn and understand one another without being soo angry and hostile . . . we can only hope. Great interview! - Thank you :).
