If you want to get even more advanced, you can turn mutation numbers in the ancestry negative by breeding until you get above 2.1 billion mutations (only takes 32 generations or so) then the number flips negative and it treats it as a fresh line as if it was 0/20 on both sides again. Worth doing if you're planning on pushing mutation cap (255 points in a stat)
Hello and thank you for this in depth breeding guide part 1 and part 2 that you have made. You have brought incredible clarity to this guide that others have failed. Genesis 2 launch has now increased max dino level cap to 500 and maximum level ups of a dino to 88. Lets say 498 for safety. 498 - 88 = 410. Through breeding and mutations, you do not want to exceed 410 dino level before any level ups. For now anyway, subject to change in future patches at Wildcards discretion.
Just watched your other video and I want to tell you I appreciate the effort you have put into this as I had no idea how expansive breeding was and it was although repetitive, quite entertaining and I personally don't think I will ever forget what it taught me.
*Really appreciated and well detailed tutorials...* I watched many others but they are so used to breeding that they explain it for themselves and it just makes it hard to understand for someone that has no idea. Showing the process on each generation slowly gets things on your head and clears any doubt, Most of this was converting a female mutation into a male mutation then I was wondering what happens if you get male mutations in a row, then you showed it. This is such a long process that the possibility of any little mistake is overwhelming. I'm so glad I found this tutorial. it cleared many things.

I know that I can greatly surpass the 41 mutations and that the limit will only be the CAP of each statistic... Statement: I'm a new Ark player, experimenting and learning on singleplayer. I had no idea that breeding could be this effective, and I will certainly be using the methods and information you've given in these two videos for my use in dominating the various Ark worlds. Along with a few excellent rifles to leave burning holes in meatbags as well, of course.
the wiki is confusing. lacks clarity. i hear that with the addition of genesis and x-variant dinos, the dino level cap was raised to 500 from 450. so it is unclear to me if this is for all dinos, or is it just the x-variant dinos get the level cap increase? also, i assume this is only for official servers, and doesn't impact unofficial or single player? also, the added levels you can get after taming/breeding reportedly went from 73 to 88 with genesis x variants. i think i read this +88 is only for x variant dinos? and it remains +73 for normal non-x-variant dinos? but in single player the +88 applies to ALL dinos. unsure if modded servers are same as official on that... and final question, for the achievement to level your dino to max - does that want me to get a dino to level 500, or does it just want me to get all +88 levels after tame? i assume the latter.

This is by far the best mutation breeding guide I've seen. Can't find anything missing. 👍 Just recently I noticed I can't reverse breed a base line, which I accidentally lost. But that's not that big of a deal, it's way worse to wait for another day to get the next egg on official settings. A little bit discouraging when you say it took you months. I should target for 20/20 late 2021 😂 But like I said, it's the best guide ever!

Another great video on this! When getting a female with the desired mutation, I usually let the parents continue to mate and make new eggs WHILE I grow-up & breed the female to get a male version. Sometimes, I find a male with the mutation faster, sometimes I convert the female faster, but I like to do both options at the same time. IF the female gets fully grown, and gives birth to a male with the mutation I want, then I'll stop the breeding at that point, so the gen-0 female mating timers are ready when it grows up.
Oh, one other minor tip to add to your video though: when taming your low level rexes to down-breed movement, etc. It helps if you punch the knocked out tame until you get the taming effectiveness down to 0% so that you have better odds of getting a desired low stat.
I just want to say that I’ve seen a lot of breeding videos but I never understood 100% of the process and sometimes felt downright dumb. But your videos were so clear and so well explained and so Thorough that I understand now what to do and I would like to thank you for your dedication. P.S. I would very much like to see a video on a boss fights with your ultra badass rexes.
Was looking for the explanation on backwards breeding and why. Thanks, it was plain in depth. Just wondering do you need to beat down the dino to 0.0% ? It took forever enough and over dozen clubs to get to 0.9%
I started watching this late after breeding many rexes recently started this breed cycle your showing. I currently have a good health mutation female rex at LCL 206 which came from 204 rex. Problem is I'm not sure what would be my base male to convert her with. Would it be the very 1st male I started breeding with to use? He is a tamed wild fairly low lvl. Or should I use a already breeder male with some mutations to convert?
Just some advice for some people who don’t wanna extract the data or for those who can’t (using cloud gaming for example) you can use Dino Storage or Super Spyglass Mods to see the point allocation of the stats in game, in real time.
Have always given up in the past with trying to mutate and breed dinos, the frustration of trying to figure out the differences between Matrilineal and Patrilineal.. You have simply blown my mind with how simple this is, time consuming as well but thats just ark breeding I guess. Thankyou for the amazing videos including the previous to this, I am currently 6/20 on my rex's too and still going strong!

Heres my question, I saw your final base dinos closer to the end and they were not imprinted. Do you not want to fully imprint your dinos whilst breeding for mutations? Thank you
:48 and this is why this game is laggy as sht. 20 different tribes on the map with at very least, this many copies of 1 dino on the scren just for this ill thought out breeding system ☹️
This video maybe a year old but this is the best breeding video this helped me and It helped me breed my mega dinos and I got obsessed with breeding after that not gonna lie I've been experimenting with it too like comparing my x sabers to me regular sabers see which variants will be more powerful.
How is that its mutating on only one stat? Or you just didn't put on video mutated in other ones? Is there way to predetermine stat which will be added? 🤔
@9:50 here as you explained that a male has to breed with a female. No wonder I have not been getting any eggs I have been breeding males to males and females to females. (said with more sarcasm than lvl 20 dodo being filled with fear hearing a giga roar)

@@kerkvlerk4720 The side on which it's on does not matter for the offspring. That's a common misconception. The only number that matters as far as mutation chance goes is the sum of both sides. If that number is over 20, that dino cannot inherit any mutation. In your case, your male cannot inherit another mutation, but your female can, since it's under 20 in total. The two sides just give info about what happened so far in that line.
@@kerkvlerk4720 You must breed your 20 out of 20 male with your base females, it must be on the maternal side in order to gain more mutations. If you get a female, breed it with the base mail, that will switch the stats over to the patrilineal side.
Im playing on a boosted server on gen 2, every 10s i get a egg, and i can raise it in a minute and its still taken me hours to get a few mutations, its gonna be worse when when im past 20 and start stacking😭

Hello! I'm playing on an unofficial server and we have s+mutators, is it ok if i just switch the gender via mutator everytime i get a female baby instead of breeding it with my base male until i get a male?
I must say. You make this look super easy, but because of your vids on breeding I actually get it some what now. I just can't seem to get lucky with the stat mutations.
@@seeshellgaming6883 with your breeding tut i am up to 21/40 must between health/stam/dam and i also got one in movement i got lucky with a double mut on that one.
I may have missed this if it was already covered, either in this video or the previous one. But why can you not take your initial 20/20 melee Rex and breed with a base until you have a male and female that are both 20/20 melee and combine that together the way you combine the 20/20 melee with the health or stamina? If that works the way it makes sense in my head that it should, that would short cut this entire extended process you just took to get the 41 individual mutations one by one. Now I obviously haven't spent near as much time breeding in ark as you have, and in fact I found these videos prepping to get started, so I'm assuming I'm wrong and you didn't just miss this easy shortcut. But it doesn't make sense to me why I'm wrong. It seems like that should work, no?
If you breed a male with 20 melee mutations and a female with 20 melee mutations, (i.e. the same melee stat), the babies will simply inherit that melee stat, so will be exactly the same as the parents. You can't stack stats like the way you suggest, that's not how it works.
I just want you to know, u did an amazing job with this as it explains everything from line 5 points of view and basically saying the same thing different ways 5 times over to make sure everyones point of view is covered.... But its to long of a tutorial that could of been trimmed, dont want to sound like I'm judging it bcuz it definately gave me the knowledge I was looking for, from a viewers stand point I want to help u help us as expiediant as possible 😆, again thank u for the knowledge it will not be taight in vain I promise that😁
Great guide, my question is how do you breed clean females? I get always random dino babie levels, i have two max Bionic Rexes but they'r babies always have random lvls.
i have a question. Imagine that i have a 80/20 mutated damage rex and is in level 439. The question is i can do the backwards breeding to decrease the level of my rex to keep going on the damage mutation?
yes and no. you really don't need to go past that. 80 is ridiculous. also there is a stat cap on the dinos taht is about 140 or something like that. so keep in mind that everytime you do a mutation if your base damage was 40 points and you have done 80 mutations that adds 160 to 40. you need to stop at some point. but yes you can backwards breed at any time. don't keep going with your mutations. that is too much. at some point ark won't allow you to add any more points or levels.
i would recommend dino storage v2 (mod) since it safes you a lot of time automatically soul trap (cryopod alternative) babies and showing their stats and mutations, who their parents were and some other things when hovering over the soul trap. you can also make it so they can grow up in soul traps in order to reduce the number of dinos standing around.
So you basically you breed your mutated male back too base females...so how long does it take too get 21...ive been breeding them along time now...i have 54 base females
it is all down to luck. it is also all down to what your server settings are. I had an extremely boosted rates like about 50x. and was forcing my babys to grow up into adulthood. going from 0-20 in stamina melee and health took a month
lol please update your knowledge you can get all stats other than movement to 255 points mutated. I have put 255 stam and 255 health on my Wyvern egg collecting pterranadon, and this works for every stat. Its just about stacking all mutations on a male
Awesome stuff!! not sure if you did say this or not but can you make the other stats 40/20 then breed them for higher stats again? Of course I don’t think anyone has that much time 😂😂😂
you can breed stats pretty damn high. the only thing that you have to worry about is max level dino cap for official (which is going to end very soon for unreal 4 engine) but there is a stat cap. i can go over this more with you if you wish. I have a discord that you can join and talk to me when i am online if it helps to talk about this in person
Just at the beginning of this video, but as a suggestion: You can also just use a mod called Super Spyglas. You will have to manually catalogue (or make a screenshot of) your dino, but I found that the ARK Smart Breeding App is not always accurate either; especially when you don't have full control of the server and its settings (i.e. when you are playing on a private or official one). I.e. it often gave me the "I can't scan this, restart the server for accurate settings or change the things in this app."... even WHEN I put them in manually. So, yeah, Super Spyglass is a wonderful thing
Great video! Quick question, why do all the base females have to be the same? Can I have a variety pack or what was the reason for having the females all with the same stat?
if they are the same then that means that they have the same stats. movement speed in Ark survival evolved is actually a 'hidden' stat. you dont see it but there are points in there which can affect the level of your creature. just make sure your femals and base male are all the same level
There's a mistake in level number in your video at 1:09:25 You mention there should be 449 but it shows 499 which can make ppl slightly confused. Overall very good guide. Clearly you gave an instructions about how to do it step by step which lacks in plenty of guides in YT. Watched this and previous one to the end and now i fully understand how mutation works in Ark. Almost 4 hours of both videos but worth spending that time for such important informations! Cheers
I’ve watched both your guide and this far I’m into lv 12 DMG mutation and 11 for HP. Really thought I’d be done when I reached 20 on both but daaamn I have a long way to go still 😂 Would’ve been so awesome to see that boss fight btw!
