While I appreciate Syntac's Support for my Chimera Idea for Aberration it is coming as a Mod now, in the middle of talks with CyrusCreates, but don't expect it out in time for Aberration Cyrus does have other projects to do first, gonna be a couple months

The yi concept art looked rough, but the model looks really promising

I know people are worried about Yi Ling vs Rock Drake, but I see no issue here. Both are similar - clinging to walls, gliding, etc - but thats about it. Rock Drake is more like a flight-capable rex, good for head-on overt combat while Yi Ling seems to be more scouting/hit-and-run focused, with an emphasis on positioning, timing and careful maneuvering However, the only way to know for sure is to wait for when Ab is released.

Something else I would like to see is Megalania on Aberration. The Map would make it finally useful, at least in the early game. Probably up to mid game if the aberrant version is radiation immune.

I honestly don't care about ARK II at all. I was never very hyped, but now, I have absolutely no anticipation for it whatsoever. Back to ASA, I hope the yi ling is hurt by radiation so it isn't very convenient to steal eggs with it. The whole point of an egg heist is to be just that; an elaborate and overthought heist. The yi ling will definitely ruin that

My main gripe with Yi is that the original submission had it as a flier, which is a big no-no on Aberration(it had an ability to flap its wings and gain altitude while using stamina when it was gliding...which is just flying) and I am worried that it along with the Steampunk airships they're adding will ruin the feel of the map.

I was angry about the Oasisaur but was like "i dont care about it" now.. with the jumping spider Im angry again but I DO care about it cause I voted for the Jumping spider in the community vote so many damn times and ... it made zero sense why the 7th place in community votes Yi Ling won the Vote... Now theres Cosmo...with the grappling hook being unable to be used on aberration and adding a paid creature that can do that grappling now... on a movement limited map like ab... hell how much more pay to win can you get? even if they added this as a standalone creature i would be angry lol. So... long story short.. STILL ANGRY

"it's too similar to the rock drake" i said that about the Deinonychus, which I think looks like a rock drake mixed with a raptor. It's a dumb argument as we have many creatures that share traits but with other differences. I don't mind the fantasy-looking appearance as it honestly fits this map better that way. The appearance of the original Yi genus was also strange, and it didn't actually fly, but climbed.

As someone who enjoys ark and understands that it would cost them money to credit the creator. They still could have atleast admitted that Cosmo was inspired by the jumping spider. We know wild card can do good things even against snail games. Even if legally they can say its wild cards own unique creature the thing is its hard to say that in good faith when it was close to winning and some Devs even said they wanted it to win. Then there is the fact what about other mods and creators are they gonna use to make creatures. How many people are now gonna be discouraged from making mods because they fear its gonna be copied by snail or wild card and not be credited.

Whilst seeing the Yi Ling's actual model has improved my opinion of it (it looks remarkably like a fantasy creature), I still think it shouldn't have won the Aberration vote. Frankly speaking, it's too similar to the Rock Drake, who it shares a map with. A spider or amphibian would have been significantly more fitting and unique for the map, with the former likely being able to function as a good pre-Drake movement tame. Which leads into the whole Maevia Eureka / Cosmo debacle.

Many of us were looking forward to having Maevia in the game. But after WC decided to take its image for themselves, it really struck a nerve for us creature submitters. Why make something that everyone loves when no one is going to credit you for it. It's sad that they would even go as far as hiding it behind a paywall. At least we'll have Maevia coming out as a mod in the future.

Hey! Maevia Author here! I want to thank you for covering the issue and showing your take on it! At first I was afraid royalties? (I think that's what they are) could be an issue, however they do actually own all of our artwork, ideas, and assets overall! So legally I don't believe they would have to pay anyone anything and besides, the other authors weren't really credited at all, at least all that I know of weren't, and I do want to say though many saw it as an issue of crediting, for me ultimately it was hurtful that they took something I worked with the community on, knew they could profit off of it (heck, the popularity says it all) and then gave it back to that very community with a price tag on it, which... really kinda makes those of us who pour so much work into making the submissions feel completely *used* for the sake of profit, the same can't even be said for the other creatures, as those were either put into the game for free access to the community or they simply lost, and honestly that was totally chill! At the end of the day, it's just an unfortunate situation and like you said, with totally different entirely reasonable perspectives to see it at, I'm currently gritting my teeth at the thought of another creature being thrown in for cash and changed a lot from what most had originally voted on it for, with another author feeling incredibly used, I feel as though it would be too much to ask for some form of clarity, that this is not the case in the end. I was genuinely bothered by it due to how altered it was from what the community had fought for, between the name change and ability changes being so drastic and not a word or minor explanation, it has really felt more like a deliberate rip-off than simply their version of Maevia... Like they took what the community fought for, all the work I did as well as the community, and made it their very own thing, which yes it truly is theirs from the start, but people voted for this, and now it's not really what they voted for. Some abilities were shared from Maevia such as shoulder-buddy light pet, grappling hook when on shoulder, which are absolutely awesome to see, at the very least. After all is said and done, it's a smart business decision, use a part of your community to find out what the rest of the community wants, and then bingo, you've enticed a tonnnn of players to purchase the DLC that haven't yet.... and possibly far more than just a DLC in the future.

@4:35 The issue with not crediting the original inspiration is that it is very short sighted and will turn away future mod authors.

6:45 Maevia's creator has stated that they would not be liable to pay as Maevia was not copyrighted. A simple "inspired by Maevia" would've sufficed.

I'm kind of worried about the Cosmo spider. The dossier says it "can" recycle spider webs and "then" do most of its functions. If the only way to really use the Cosmo spider is to get splattered by spiders it's going to be a quite niche tame that only works around spiders, or be tedious that you have to keep finding spiders to replenish ammo. I really hope they make it so that Cosmo can replenish its webbing at a slow rate while getting webbed recharges it faster.

Ark 2 is making ASA's development so much worse; I wish they just cancelled it at this point and actually focus on ASA. No more P2W Fantastic tames or Bob's Tall Tales dino stealing. If they want to ruin a game, ruin Ark 2, not ASA.

Yi Ling will make you question if you want a rock drake or not due to the creature’s spiky feather ability plus the mushroom types will affect the ability too seem more lighter and faster and more easy on the gliding while rock drake is a bit heavy and slightly difficult to glide due to its massive size. Cosmo must’ve been Bob’s shoulder tame that saved him multiple times in dire situations in aberration. And the grapple may not be the same as Atlas it will feel like the grapple from Ark, just aim shoot and reel in. Ark 2, wildcard is actually keeping us players busy with the aberration map allowing them to continue working on Ark2 since it’ll have a lot new mechanics something that the original game lack, despite taking long, a huge game like this takes time to publish or to give us a sample on how the game will play out

I firmly believe Microsoft would buy wildcard if snail liquidates they’re company cause they’re not saving they’re stock I hate to be that guy but look at they’re stock IT HAS ONLY GONE DOWN SINCE IT STARTED so I hope Microsoft to buy wildcard

I mean... I personally REALLY wanted the Ornimegalonyx (giant flightless owl) to win the Aberration vote, and I was a bit disappointed that it didn't, but I will admit the Yi Ling does look cool. I'm hoping at least it will be fun to use, and that it won't have a super annoying taming method. XD

People really don’t seem to get what happens in ranked voting. Basically, few people got their first pick, it must have been a close race between several, and the yi qi happened to have more back up votes collectively than the spider.

I think ASA Aberration is going to be very different from ASE, and I think they will make a open roof on Ab to fly your airships

Peacock spiders are a real thing in the world right now. Giant riding jumping spiders are different, and it doesn't shoot webs. I like the Raptorbat. Ab needs a medium-sized glider. Hope it's radiation proof and has some type of weight reduction like an argy. That would be awesome

I’m still chimera gang. That scorpion would’ve been flawless. Really any of the creepy crawlies would’ve fit the cave theme perfectly. Even the flightless owl would’ve been cool because of how unique it was. But no. We got a rock drake lite. I will concede the final version of the Yi Ling is much better and about as good as it could’ve possibly been. But I’m still upset

Honestly I'm very pleased with the final presentation of the yi ling. Its design now looks FAR better than its concept art, I do wish they kept the long tail. I do believe it will be a raptor on steroids in terms of speed and agility

People say they want Ark II because of ASA but they seem to be forgetting that ASA was supposed to be a "fixed" version of ASE yet still has a huge number of issues, problems, delays and old bugs that were never fixed. I'm not sure how that gives the impression that Ark II will somehow be a completely different and better affair. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we're already seeing some of the ideas of Ark II already being used in ASA as a test bed. It will be interesting to see what people say when (if) Ark II actually comes out or even when we get any more info.

I really want to love ASA again, I really do. I'm still holding out for the Aberration drop in September. I don't think it'll make the 4th release date, I think it'll get a small delay, as is a trend with WC. Aberration is my fave Ark map so really hope they don't mess it up.

Another great video from someone on Holiday 😂. So, for Cosmo, like you say, although I can see the reasoning of the controversy, I don't agree with it. The new AB creature sounds alot more now like the Deinonychus, but with a ranged attack instead of melee bleeding. Between them and the AB version of raptors pinning down as well as Ravagers bleed... this will be rough...and I'm here for it! Lastly, Svartfalheim's theme just didn't do it for me, but this new ancient Greek theme fits perfectly with Ark lore and all I can say is... take my money!!!

I've played Ark since it came out as an Early Access on Steam, and even when it only had a handful of dinos/animals and my PC was terrible, I loved it. Over the years, I kept playing it on and off (mostly single-player), and I got really excited whenever new creatures like the Wyverns were released, as well as when new maps came out. I was okay with occasionally paying for a new map with new creatures because I knew it was something people still had worked on. After a long time, I decided to buy Ark Ascended as well. I finally had a better PC and was excited to try playing Ark on it with some mods. Ascended was on discount too, so I thought, "Let's give it a try." In short (because I don't want to start raging again): I still like the idea of Ark, but this game is so full of bugs, and the decisions made by the studio behind it… It makes me so angry. I was actually yelling at my PC when I saw that Oasis Dino Crab thing walking around with a big €30 price tag on it WHILE I WAS PLAYING THE GAME - you really don't want to know how mad I was back then... I don't care about the Pyro Mane; there are way cooler modded creatures out there. But the audacity of letting them spawn with a "You can tame me if you pay another €5" sign, whether you want it or not... How low does a studio have to sink for that? 💀

I have had very strong opinions regarding ark recently, but I feel like the Yi Ling is just something they are going to absolutely get done well. I feel like the Yi Ling could be a tame to bridge the power gap between available Abb tames, instead of getting spinos, sacrificing them in the red zone while getting a drake egg, and moving on with your egg, the Yi Ling will just remove that sacrifice, and much difficulty in general going through the red and blue zones.

I might actually consider testing this 1 for drake eggs, maybe in combination with the spider When we got on aberration, on new servers, my m8 used to jump with climbing picks and i tamed karkinos for the job, but adding a bit of variety will make things more interesting than having to do the same old things all over again To be honest, i do believe that some change is neccessary. Aberration is *by far* my favorite map, i've spent the vast majority of a 5 digit hour count on there and i really want to dive right back into this addiction But i'm afraid if i do the same things i did before... It would just get boring after mere days Can't wait for this to drop, i got vacation for nearly 3 weeks in september, let's hope this drops in time 🤣

If only we could just get the grapple without the gross arachnid.

Great video raas! Personally i think the jumping spider will work a lot like how the blood stalker grapple capability works honestly, hopefully it will be a little cooler.

Dino behind paywall would be fine if it was literally a PACK of dinos, paying for 1 dino everytime adds up a lot and very fast if people want to get all of them. The Yi Ling sounds like a hybrid of rockdrake and reaper/thorny dragon don't you think? with there abilities and all, I do love the look of it though, it will definately be an interesting new addition to the new map

Look at GTA6 for example people had to leak the game for the developers to even acknowledge that its in development after 8 years and still took them like what 6 months to get a trailer out for people to watch lol...

Although the new abberation creature looks cool, if it can fly, It will essentially get rid of part of the challenge of abberation.

I was almost happy about the spider being put in but... well yeah Also thank you for accenting the issue. Legality is not the issue, it's an ethical issue. They literally could've just mentioned taking inspiration and people would not be as mad. There'd still be argument about putting it into a paid DLC, but ... frankly I think it would've been way more justifiable. I have thought about if they'd be liable to pay the creator... I don't think they would. At least, not much. They haven't been for any other creature vote. Unless the person made it into a mod and then they integrated it. It is a bit more complicated bringing that in but I just really would've preferred it if they mentioned it or came up with some other creature on their own

A bit of a random question, but how long was the Nitrado deal? I want to play Ark again with my friends when Aberration comes out, but having to pay for a 10 (or was it 20?) slots server seems insane, especially considering when we would like to go to SE, we would have to buy another 10/20 slots server. Pretty sure you could get a 5 slots server with G-Portal so we could create a cluster for the same price we are paying now…

I don’t really care about ark 2 until it’s out I just want ASA to have all the maps, Dino’s, and mods I’ve come to love with ase! Also I’m not upset with bobs DLCs actually like it but I mainly play solo or a dedicated server with a couple friends so it doesn’t feel pay to win in that sense just new creatures to use! but it’s not right for them take work others have done and make it their own but also at this point in gaming it’s hard to name a mechanic or idea that wasn’t “inspired” by something else

You guys can go and play Ark Souls Creed when it comes out. I'll be playing ASA and enjoying first person combat, instead of dodging and rolling from T-Rexes with telegraphed Dark Souls boss attacks.

I'm cool with them taking a long time with Ark 2 as I hope it to be alot smoother gameplay than Ark, I know.... I'm reaching with those expectations but still!

I think the Yi Ling is gonna be way too similar to the Rock Drake and Deinonychus. Because just by listening to others like Raasclark talking about it or even reading about it yourself. It does basically everything both of those creatures do, that's not to say i wouldn't end up liking it but it's in me meh listen for now on creatures i want to tame.

As a graphic artist who’s delt with stolen content. Wildcard has to have something in order considering the jumping spider, and the originals maker. If they don’t they are flirting along the lines of a lawsuit. I don’t know if it works that way exactly with mod creators. But if I created that spider first, id feel hard done by. Interesting if the mod maker has anything to say about it.

Don’t get me wrong I voted for the jumping spider every post, I’m loving the idea of cosmo though as someone that’s one missing swinging around the maps like I used to with a bloodstalker, but also there is a mod out now of the jumping spider, so why would ark dupe the hole thing who knows maybe if the jumping spider mod didn’t exist it would legit be the rideable jumping spider we saw originally, and not cosmo, but now we can have the best of both because I’m definitely gonna be having cyruscreatures jumping spider and gecko on my Abberation playthru plus the adorable cosmo

i think the noglin was inspierd by the jumping spider has the same face.

the maeva eureka has been in most ascended votes iirc it never won once and im pretty certain thats the reason why the dude took it into his own hands to make a mod for it and then WC just makes a jumping spider in the game *after* the mod was being made and being published they cant credit him for exactly what the creature is, but they could even mention in a community post which introduced it that it was seen a lot in creature votes and they decided to put it in thats even in itself enough of a credit

I think the cosmo complaints are kinda bs, at most you could say they decided to add a jumping spider because they knew the players liked it due to the Maevia Eureka submission

I'm perfectly ok with the timeline where ARK2 never drops. If they would just abandon all their other projects and focus on ASA, and making it as good as we all know it could be, then there wouldn't be as many people on ASE still. There would still be some, as there have been enough major errors on their part. No cryofridge on platform/raft, pods require cryofridge near, the issue where any dino that could use a plat cart couldn't board a plat/raft(fixed a few patches back), or even just waiting for the map that has what they want(cough cough INCUBATORS!!!).
