Something that you didn't really cover when comparing the Spino to the other large predators like the Rex and Allos. The Spino's stamina drain is hilariously low in comparison, combine that with the speed it has, and it makes for a pretty speedy way to get around large maps like Ragnarok, while still providing a more than capable combat mount for most any non-boss/non-giga foe.

I have a high-level Spino which I use far more than my high-level Rex. Two small downsides are the weight and the fact that it only eats fish. Big upsides: speed, stamina and water buff

I get silica pearls easily bc every hour or so about 9 beaver dams spawn and within 20 min or so I have about 120 pearls and I pick up clam shells on beaches for pearls

@@samuelrs5138 no, a beach is the entire sand/rocky part. The shore is the very edge, right next to the ocean. But they are very similar and almost the same

I remember back into 2016 when I first tamed a spino on normal settings. It took a long time, and I had to keep killing bronto's and making narcotics.

The spino and bary are my favorites, they are good all-rounders that have gotten me out of some sticky situations in the past, and are overall extremely reliable, it might sound weird but in ark I'd take a Spino over a Rex any day

That’s not weird bud, I wish good lives for your buds. I’ve recently only learned about these dinos from Ark. After doing other research to learn about them they’re some of my favorite extinct animals. (Bary are also Spinosaurids therefore related the Spinosaur)

Definitely not subpar to the rex I’ve been able to take out high levels wild Rexs with a few swipes and kill it just before it finishes roaring. I’ve even been able to take out alpha trexes without taking to much damage.

Spino is Jack of all trades, master of none, generally the speed and stamina means you can actually get as much meat as a giga in some cases, giga kills faster and collects more, but it's a lot less mobile and fast

hi phlinger! trick: build foundations/ceilings on platformsaddles with the dinosaur parked on a foundationplatform on the ground. the foundations underneath the saddle act as 'snap'point for the saddle (like your pillar-less bridge-trick). with this method you can make a long ramp from the back of a bronto all the way to the ground or a HUGE platform for your quetz. i'm not sure if it works on official servers, but it works on solo-ark :) thx for the great videos!

Once we started a temporary base on the island in the foot paw and there was a spino down the river, sage distance from our base, but it got closer and then got to the right side of our base, we were hiding in it but it smelt us or something, starting running around in circles attacking the base, then we just got sucked out like it was a fucking tornado.

I would suggest to find a cliff for strong animals like spinos, if you can get on a high enough cliff you can just shoot at it until it starts running and chase after it

I tame my Dino’s like spinos, rexs, allos, etc, in the stupidest ways. I don’t use a pen, I don’t use the best food. I just use my longneck rifle and my cross bow and head straight at them. Although, for my spino, I used my sarco to swim away when it got close. I’ve died only once to the allo, none to the spino, and almost died to my rex which I am currently standing on top of her unconscious body waiting for her to tame.

I actual tamed a spino early game around 40 - 50 and having it in my arsenal even though I wasn’t able to ride it it was very helpful for protecting me and my base.

18:46 Phlinger is walking with the Spino on where I put my base on the Island. Had to build some pillars a few places because the ground is uneven. What sucks is that I can't build near or on where the loot drop is. Can I disable the restriction on Xbox One, I went through the options several times and think I clicked on everything to let me build better.

If you put PveAllowStructuresAtSupplyDrops=True in the ini file you should be able to build there. Hope this helps

@@zangetsu8639 shame, think you should've given it a chance. Try it on single player boost your game slightly, it's much better (that's if you havent already). If you're on dedicated servers they're made for team play. Everything takes ages because of it. In solo player you have the option to use single players mode. And if you lose a favourite dino, you get to spawn the exact same level one 😉

Me too, but in real life it's the Velociraptor, and in ARK, my top 4: Ice Wyvern (number One), Sabretooth (number Two), than The Overseer (number Three) and than Spinosaurus (number Four). We have Utahraptor, Troodon (also a Raptor!!) And Deinonychus (only in Valguero) in this game, but not the Velociraptor. So, The Ice Wyvern is my number 1. Why not the Velociraptor?? 😥😥😥😡🤬

Spino easily out classes the Rex in my eyes. Damage output is similar, but better stamina economy and they're much faster even without the hydrated buff. Rex has more knock back, but for daily running around, my Spino wins hands down.

Just went on an expedition to try and hunt for black pearls and brought my Spino to provide backup. It was all going really well given the loot we had acquired but then we were ambushed by a pack of maybe 10 manta rays. She died in the fight and I couldn't kill the manta. Had the Spino for years since I was maybe level 20 or so, I progress very slowly. So now I'm going to get revenge against the ocean.

I was in a normally VERY safe area for beginners... i had a trike, a pterodon parasuar, and a few dodo’s... A spino way to came close to my base... so i made all my dinos attack him- he killed them all almost instantly- i used my crossbow and did nearly nothing- i had very high ground and yet it killed me and camped my base ;-; I deleted that save...

Hey All ! I'm brand new to the game. Long story short... I'm level 11 with a level 12 Spino. I got caught in the dark in a huge battle in shallow water. What equipment I had broke and I was trying to get away. And then the tame box came up. (lol) So I guess my main mission for the next 60 levels is keeping her alive. Thanks for the help Phoo! I hope this isn't a normal thing ! :)

My first spino tamei used a tiny 3 wall tall cage i usedfor trapping therazinos and i swesr to god it was the most terrifyng thing when he slammeshis wholebody into the cage trying to reach me but couldnt fitin the cage xD i just figured putting it between me and him was the smartest idea since he spawned litterallyright next to my base and i didnt have time to build a proper pen ._.

I really love Spino's. Don't ask why, I don't know it. ^^ But the video was pretty helpful and interesting. I'm really curious if it's possible to kill a Giganoto with a Spino. Doesn't matter how. I know the Giga normally is stronger than the Spino. He makes more damage and has much more health. There must be a way to win the battle against a Giga. And maybe, if you want to, you can make a video about that. Would be very interesting for me. ;P

if you’re by the coast, you can pretty easily retreat into the water. A high level hydrated spino can solo a giga, and you can easily retreat to deeper water if you’re still losing. A hydrated spino regens waaay faster than a giga, too so a war of attrition works.

Spinos are better than rexes to me lol. Also, 4 small stone gates and a large bear trap is more than enough to tame a spinos. Can use this with almost anything large too. Rex, bronto, spinos, paracers, and metal ones get gigas and rock golems great too

I have a spinosaurus but 1 dinos of mine died during the taming it was a tapejara i had 2 tapejaras in my base and the other one died rip tapejara

i found one stuck in woter but he didnt drown just like my carne he was in water but he didnt drown

Sp mode... hibernation wild dinos won't spawn so if have to respawn the whole Ark sometimes... once I had a tek rex fight a spino RIGHT in front of my base... Spino won... then ran into the ocean and got eaten by 3 megalodons... the chaos of every wild dino respawning lol
